Baby Picture Sundays – Mother’s Day

Debi hosts the Baby Picture Sundays. Hop on over there to see who’s playing, and join in too!

Today’s theme is Mother’s Day.

For Mother’s Day I got a lot of cards from the kids…Mike helped the kids pick some out, my nanny helped the kids make some, and the twins even made some at school!

Mother's Day Cards

I received a hammock a week early because Mike knew I’d be on vacation the week before Mother’s Day. I LOVE it. Unfortunately, the kids do too 😉

My Mother's Day Present

My Mother's Day Present

Or is it for the kids??

...Or is it for the kids??

It folds up for easy storage and to keep it dry (if I remember to bring it out of the rain…oops!) and it attaches to the frame with two chains on both ends, so it doesn’t flip! Perfect for if you have little kids (or if, like me, you’ve flipped out of a regular hammock too many times to count…)

My other Mother’s Day present is huge. HUGE I say! You’ve gotten a glimpse of it in my last Fx4 post. More to come!

I Know it’s Nature…

I was happily munching away on my artichoke last night when all of a sudden I see a hole in some of the leaves. Huh. Wonder what THAT is…I poke around a little bit more and find a lovely little green worm. In my half-eaten artichoke!!! Eww eww eww eww eww!!!!!!

I know that these things grow … outdoors even … and I shouldn’t be too surprised to find a little critter every now and again, but it doesn’t mean I have to LIKE it.

Friday’s Foto Finish Fiesta

Candid Carrie sponsors this one – head over to her blog and find LOTS of links for bloggers who’ve joined in! (You can join in too!)

It’s amazing what a new set of curtains can do for a room.

I forgot to take a “before” picture before putting the new ones up, so I found this photo from a previous post…not a great one, but you get the idea.

Before

These are the new curtains…a first step in our kitchen makeover – stay tuned for more!

And YES. The chickens will be leaving us when the renovations are complete 😉

Most bizarre search that found my blog: “Spanking Burke Video”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Happy Birthday Grandad! I can’t believe you’ve been gone for almost 20 years now. I used to call Grandma on this date every year – even if I’d just talked with her the day before. It’s really strange to not have that opportunity any more either.

Thursday Theater – 30 Second Rule

Goddess hosts Thursday Theater. Wanna join in? Go add your name to the list!

This week’s challenge is to tell your video story within 30 seconds. Oh, and apparently you’re a cheater if you don’t edit the video and just take one that’s under 30 😉

So…apparently, OneTrueMedia puts watermarks all around your video if you don’t want to pay…I swear, the video itself is only 30 seconds…the crap around it added about 15 more though!

Lots of Reminders!

Wow…a lot going on here.

First, a reminder to check out the Spoonfuls of Stories giveaway. You have until Sunday night to enter!

Second, same post…are you yearning to be a children’s book author? Go check it out! There’s a $5000 first prize reward and the chance for a book review by Simon & Schuster Children´s Publishing. (Cool, right??)

Third, the Fishful Thinking $10,000 scholarship giveaway is still going on! All you have to do is create a cute little Fishful Thinking story (with guidance) and then fill out the form. Yep, that’s it!

Fourth, I know you can see the Fishful Thinking links over there on the left-hand side, but I’ve also created a Fishful Thinking page. Right now it’s pretty much the same links, but in all my spare time (ha ha), I plan to add to it. And I’ll be keeping it up-to-date all summer with the new activities that come out weekly. The page lives at the top of my blog…see? Up there where it says “Go Fish!”

Have you been doing the Fishful thinking activites? Do you like the articles? Drop me a line and let me know! I’m dying to hear what you think 🙂

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

These pictures are from 4 years ago: May 28, 2005. The kids were 4 months old.

Entertaining Food

We took the kids to the local Japanese steak house for dinner last night. I was a little worried about burnt fingers since they cook the food right in front of you – but it was all good.

The chef was very entertaining. And while Maggie did hold her hands over her ears while he was banging throwing the knives around, all of the kids definitely enjoyed themselves. They were transfixed the entire time he was cooking. He made lots of fire (a little scary, but cool), and a volcano, and other fun stuff. I think they were most impressed when he flipped the egg shell into his chef’s hat though 🙂 We all clapped when he finished.

Logan went to TOWN on the food. Especially the rice. The little guy couldn’t shovel it into his mouth fast enough LOL. Burke (a.k.a. Mr. Picky) tried things, and even ate more than one spoonful of rice…but didn’t love the chicken or the steak. Maggie was a pro with the chop sticks! (I think I could have been if they’d used a rubber band on mine too though 😉 )

And of course, all three kids loved the “fried” ice cream. (Fried? Really?? Seems to me that it’s just vanilla ice cream rolled in some cornflakes. We can do that at home!)

All in all – a good trip. Maybe I’ll take a tip from a friend and we’ll hit the Fondue place next time!

Blog Farts

Blog Fartsnoun. Def: Crappy ideas that are too short to make a real blog post, but when combined, join forces to make one unified, albeit half a$$ed, post. see also: memes, surveys.

I saw Blog Fart Fridays over on another blog. I love the term, but a.) it’s not Friday, b.) I don’t think I could do it every Friday, and c.) there are too many other things going on each Friday…so I’ll just “borrow” the term and give credit 🙂

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Why do I have to wake the kids up at 7:00 on the days we have to go to school, but every other day they wake up on their own at 6 or 6:30??

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

While going in to comfort Logan at 3:30 last night, the word “Gargamel!” screamed through my head. No idea why. And no, I don’t think my youngest is an evil man plotting to rid the world of Smurfs.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

It’s incredibly hard to sing “The Goodnight Song” while hiccuping.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I really enjoy the “hoopla” of Mother’s Day – but when I really stop to think about it, I’m super spoiled because I’m treated to a “Mother’s Year” by my family.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I tried parking the stupid van in a tiny little spot at the Costco Garage last weekend…and finally just got out of the car to let Mike do it. Apparently, when Mike opened the door to let the kids out, he was mumbling something about how mommy had the car all kerfickled. (Pennsylvania-Dutch word??) Now Burke seems to think that I’m ‘carfickled’ (can’t park the car…)
