Giveaway: Add a Little Spice

Sorry, this giveaway is now CLOSED.

Four or five years ago, Mike received a gift box of grilling spices for Christmas. A family member had gotten it for him…not knowing that the store was about a mile down the road from where we lived at the time. We didn’t know that either…

Penzey’s Spices are AMAZING!! They are so flavorful…once you use them, you’ll never go back. (Okay, so that isn’t 100% true…Mike uses a lot of garlic while grilling, so we buy that in bulk at Costco…but the Penzey’s garlic a definitely better.)

We just made a special trip to our old stomping ground to restock:

Because I love these spices so much, I want to share the joy. I’m giving away one spice bag to a lucky winner!

To Enter to Win the spices:

Go to penzeys.com and browse around a little. Then come back and enter to win!

There are multiple ways to enter. Only one of the ways to enter is mandatory, all of the others are optional – you do not have to do all of them to be entered! Please leave a separate comment for each entry – it’s easier for me to count them that way 🙂

You have until Midnight on Thursday, July 15th to enter. The winner will be posted on Friday the 16th.

Mandatory – 1 entry:

  • Do you bake? Do you grill? Do you just like to add an extra kick to your salad? Which spice from their website looks the best to you? (And what would you do with it?)

Optional – 1 entry each:

  • Do you have a recipe you LOVE that uses one (or more) of the following: sage, savory, nutmeg, cinnamon, seasoned salt? (These are the non-grilling spices I have on hand, so I’m looking for more ideas 🙂 )
  • Do you already use Penzey’s spices? Do you have a favorite spice/recipe idea for me?
  • Tweet about this post and leave a comment with a direct link to your tweet.

Optional – 2 entries:

  • Blog about this post and leave a comment with a direct link to your post.

Disclaimer: I have not received anything from Penzey’s to review or give away. I just love their stuff enough to try to introduce it to everyone I meet. 🙂

Saturday Snapshot: Stick-to-Your-Ribs Good

We went to the Bison County Grill for lunch today. A much loved placed before we had kids…looks like we need to start frequenting it more often as the kids seem to share our sentiments.

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go over and have a look at what others are doing on this thank-goodness-it-only-rained-a-little Saturday.

Friday’s Fotos: More Carnival and Goofy Logan

Have You Missed Me For 2 Weeks?

I posted this (sorta) before, but I changed my domain back to wordpress to post this one since I realized this might show up in some feeds 🙂 . (I’ll change it back once I’ve posted…)

Have you noticed that your RSS feeds haven’t been updating to reflect my posts for the last two weeks? That’s cuz I changed my domain 🙂

Update your links to: http://zimmerzoo.com and you’ll be sure to catch every single one of my posts (Still haven’t missed a day in going on 3 years now…)

Dressing Like a Mom

I’m a t-shirt and jeans (or jean shorts) kind of person. Since I work from home, I’m also a PJs kind of person, but we won’t get into that 😉

Normally, I’m not really self-conscious about what I have on. Comfort wins over anything else. (This includes shoes…who the hell invented those pinchy-toed foot-killers anyway??)

Now that I’m a mom though, I spend a fair amount of time with other moms. And I think I missed that whole “what to wear as a mom” memo. Seems the dress code is v-neck t-shirts. Apparently this is more classy (and who am I to argue – it actually is a step up from regular t-shirts).

I’m now in on the secret – so look out mommies; I’m in the know.

(Anything else I should know about before going to my next PTO meeting or dance class??)

Update Your Links, Please!

So, while tooling around looking at some of my favorite blogs, I happened to notice that the blogger blogs with links to other blogs (you know, those side links that get updated with the RSS feeds?)…well…if you have mine listed there, the link is stuck from about 2 weeks ago.

It took me a moment to realize that it’s because that’s when I switched over to Zimmerzoo.com – so the RSS feed is broken.

…now, of course…you may not ever see this if you depend on those links to tell you who’s posted an update…but I figured I’d try 😉

If you’re reading this, and you have a link listed, please update it!

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

These pictures come from one of the first BBQs we had when we moved into our house in 2007. I was about 8 months pregnant with Logan here. Burke and Maggie were about 2.5.

Found a baby bunny in the back yard

I brought him in to show the kids (there are no pictures of the kids with the bunny because they’d just gotten out of the bath – ’nuff said).

We let him go again…might regret that in a bit when our garden is chewed on, but he’s SO CUTE!! 🙂

Together or Separate: An Update

So…apparently, if you drag your  feet long enough, certain decisions are made for you. (Remember the agonizing over keeping Burke and Maggie separate or together in school?)

We received Burke and Maggie’s teacher assignments about a week ago. Burke has Mrs. O. in room 10 and Maggie has Ms. S. in room 6. I think I’m okay with this decision. (This decision that was made for me…) I mean, sure it would be so much easier on me if they were together, but I really think Burke will thrive by himself. He needs to learn how to stand on his own a bit. And Maggie is already saying “WOO HOO!! New friends!!” So she’s going to be just fine.

I did find out that one of the little girls in their preschool class will be in Burke’s class. They weren’t necessarily good friends, but they’re both a bit shy, so they might gravitate toward each other that first week or so. I’m glad he has that. (The preschool is in a different town, so there aren’t many kids from my town who go to it.)

One of the little girls from Maggie’s dance class will be in Maggie’s class. I’m happy about that as well. And another little girl from her dance class will be in Burke’s class – so, not someone he directly knows, but I think after a play date or two over the summer (in all my spare time 😉 ), they’ll be all good and she will at least be a face he recognizes.

Wonder if this is as stressful on them as it is on me….

Mama Bear Ain’t Happy

While walking around our yard yesterday, I ran across a spent fire cracker shell. And then another one. And another. Around our just-under-half-acre lot, I think I picked up between 40 and 50 shells.

Our neighbors shoot these things off every year, but this is the first time I’ve seen them in our yard. Or, at least, seen so many of them!

I know next-to-nothing about these things…so I have no idea if they’re still hot when they come down.

Here’s the thing: Mike, Burke, Maggie, Logan, Uncle Jason, and Cousin Grey were camping out there. And I found shells all around the tent. WTH?!

Even if they weren’t out there, I’d still be pissed. It’s been REALLY dry here…can you say grass fire? And we have a few blow-up toys that could pop if hit by these things (obviously, these aren’t as important as my family!!)

Yes. I did go over there…with a cup full of the shells. Had to step over an obvious launching pad to get to the door. I was polite and just said it all made me nervous (not untrue). He said he’d pass it along to the ‘culprits.’

I really don’t want to start a neighbor war (they’re actually very nice people…not to mention I get the feeling we’d lose – badly 😉 they have fire crackers!!), but Mama Bear is pissed.
