I’m Sleepy’s …

Remember the post about my stupid bed? Mike and I went back to the store yesterday to see what we could do.

I showed the sales guy the pictures I took (see previous Bed post), and his eyes nearly bugged out of his head. His first reaction was that we should call the 1-800 number to ask about the warranty and have an inspector come to the house to check out the mattress…which is fine – except that yesterday was day *20* of that 21 day time-period where they’d exchange the mattress…what happens if the inspector comes out and says “ya, that’s just normal wear and tear” …? Would we be SOL?

Well, we must have had someone smiling down on us because the district sales manager just happened to be in the store. He was super nice! He made a few phone calls and BAM! We’re getting a replacement mattress tomorrow. *NO* fees! Woot!!

Oh, and if the NEW new mattress starts to sag, we’re to immediately call the 1-800 number and they’ll know to replace the box springs. For free.

Thank you, Sleepy’s!! 🙂

Makes My Monday: Weekend Guests

Aunt Sharon, Uncle Jason, Cousin Grey, and Cousin Petra came to visit this weekend!

On Friday, we played outside with the Giga ball for a while and then Petra fell to sleep on me. (There’s nothing like a baby sleeping on your chest!)

Petra

On Saturday, we all met up with Aunt Cathy, Chris, and Matthew for fun at the Aquarium and then out to lunch.

LOTS of pictures of time spent with family Makes My Monday.

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Head on over to see what else makes people’s Mondays (there are always some really good ones!)

Baby Picture Sundays

Debi hosts the Baby Picture Sundays. Hop on over there to see who’s playing, and join in too!

This week’s theme is See How He Runs. If I had my act together (do I ever??) I’d have taken some photos of Burke. The kid is *SUPER* fast.

Instead? I have photos and videos of the kids bopping around in their new Giga ball. (A Christmas present from Aunt Sharon and Uncle Jason…seemed fitting that we broke it out while they were here 🙂 )

Saturday Snapshot: At the Aquarium

The cousins are visiting, so we headed to the Aquarium today!

Friday’s Fotos: Maggie Montage

I took these a few days ago with my cell phone. The best (non-silly) one has red eye, but I’ll put up anyway. (I tried to fix the red eye with several different photo fixing software packages, but it just made her look like she’s got crazy eyes instead!)

Stupid Bed. **UPDATED**

We purchased a new bed a few weeks ago because our old bed had the tell-tale divots on each side of just being a ‘junk’ bed we’d had for too long. Did I mention the “a few weeks ago” part? Ya. well, the NEW bed is already showing signs of divots. (Seriously, I’m overweight, but geez – not enough to kill a bed in just a few weeks!!!) And both of us have been waking up with sore backs. And we bought it at one of those real mattress places.

When we bought it, we were assured that if we weren’t 100% happy, they’d be more than happy to exchange it as long as it was before 21 days had gone by. We’re still inside the 21 days, so Mike went to investigate. Ya. They’re more than happy to “exchange” it … but it’s going to cost us about 1/2 what we originally paid to do it. And there’s no guarantee that the new mattress will be any better. And I don’t think we’d be able to exchange the second one if IT isn’t any better.

We’re going in on Monday to see what they can do for us…keep your fingers crossed that they’ll be like “Oh, wait…THAT isn’t supposed to happen…you must have gotten a lemon. Here’s your new mattress for free!” mmmhmmm.

**updated with pictures**

I just thought I’d show a sample of what I’m talking about.

Nothing looks too bad here…

Was Grandma Right?

When my Grandmother first taught me how to make a bed, I’m pretty sure I looked at her like she had 3 heads. You see, she had me put the top sheet on up-side-down and inside-out (I know, right??)

Her reasoning behind this was because if you did it right, and folded down the sheet over the comforter, the pattern would be right-side-up and right-side-out.

I’m also pretty sure that the only time I ever made a bed this way was AT Grandma’s house.

My reasoning was probably along the lines of…”if it’s not made, you’ll see the pattern MY way.” Or “if I pull the comforter all the way up, you won’t see the sheet anyway.”

Enter the year 2010 and my need to purchase twin-sized sheets for my kids.

Wouldn’t you know it?? The tag is on what I would consider the “top” and the pretty boarder is on the “bottom”!! The princesses and Cars cars are up-side-down!!!

Now, I’m not sure if I should put these sheets on inside-out since the boarder is on both sides and THAT’S the part I’d flip down over the comforter…

But…was Grandma right??

Makes My Monday: Rays of Sunshine on Rainy Weekends

Despite being stuck inside with 3 cabin-fevered kids (and 2 cabin-fevered adults), and all the bickering that goes along with that…there were quite a few moments of sunshine in our house over the weekend.

We went to the local Japanese Steak House (the kind where they cook right in front of you), and had a GREAT time. The kids ate more than they do when we take them to other restaurants, and Maggie and Logan even mastered chopsticks! (Well, okay – so they’re the “kid” version of chopsticks where they band ’em together with rubber bands and a piece of paper, but I was still quite impressed!!)

Maggie with Her Chopsticks

Logan with His Chopsticks

Burke decided that he was too hungry and wanted to use a fork 😉 Can’t say that I blame him…those chopsticks are tricky!!

.

We also started to get Burke’s “Style” in place. (It’s only fair. Maggie’s is already there.)

Burke with His New McQueen Comforter

He has new McQueen sheets too, but – obviously – they’re under the comforter. And he just picked out a few things to hang on the walls … more about that later 🙂

But the ray of sunshine here was that he wanted to share this with his siblings 🙂

Please excuse the fuzziness of Burke…he couldn’t stop bouncing because he was so excited. LOL!

These rays of sunshine (well behaved kids and sharing) that cut through our otherwise-very-rainy weekend TOTALLY Make My Monday.

This week’s theme is Go Green – for St. Patrick’s Day! (This is actually a re-post from last year…I havn’t had the time to look for other green pictures today!!)

The following pictures were taken on St. Patrick’s Day of 2005 – Burke and Maggie were just about 2 and a half months old 🙂
