CRAZY Fun

So, we got about 20 inches of snow over the past few days (CRAZY)…and yesterday it warmed up enough so that we could all get out in the back yard for a little bit (Fun). πŸ™‚

Baby Picture Sundays – Presents!

Debi hosts the Baby Picture Sundays. Hop on over there to see who’s playing, and join in too!

This week’s theme is Christmas Morning. This was the twins first Christmas (2005), they were one month shy of being a year old.

Can Ya Give Me A Hand Here?

Moon Poop

Maggie was pretending to give out presents to everyone tonight. We had to make a big show of “opening” these presents while she watched. We then had to ask “What is it?” To which she’d reply, “Moon Poop! hahaha!” Where the heck did she get that? LOL

If she happened to open a “present” that we gave to her…and it happened to be Moon Poop – she’d say “No more Moon Poop!” and throw it into the other room.

At one point she chastised me for giving her a snowball. heh Then she started requesting them.

So…we broke into a “snowball” fight. The kids would designate where the snowball hit: in your eye, on your nose, in your mouth, on your head. Sometimes we’d catch them, sometimes we’d catch them in our mouths (watch out for yellow snow! They’d tell us the color as well)…but mostly they just hit their mark and we’d react accordingly.

LOL Now that’s MY kind of snowball fight πŸ˜‰

How Do You Remember What Day of the Week it is?

So…I’ve been home with the kids all day all by myself for, let’s see…today is going on day 3.5…and seriously – how do you remember what day of the week it is? I can usually tell what day it is by when I go into work vs. when I work from home vs. when we hit church vs. when we hit Costco (usually πŸ˜‰ ). I’ve had to stop and really think about what day of the week it is for the past two days since they all seem like Saturdays to me (without the Costco run).

I’m seriously curious to know how stay-at-home moms keep their days apart. And while we’re at it … what do you DO with the kids all day? I can fill the typical Saturday/Sunday with fun stuff – but after a few days of the same ‘ol mom stuff (that’s usually fun and exciting), I can see that the kids are already getting bored πŸ˜›

I need some creative ideas to keep ’em going. (preferably non-messy, non-expensive πŸ˜‰ )

My hat goes off to you guys. I love my kids, but I’m so not built for this stay-at-home stuff…especially when we’re all stuck in the house all day! I know. I’m pathetic. *sigh*

I’m Trying to Not Freak Out

Right. Yesterday marked the last day my nanny was with us … possibly forever. We knew she’d be leaving us over the holidays – that’s to be expected. But about a month ago she told us that she had some business to take care of back home, and she’s not sure if she’ll be allowed to come back. ACK!

I’ve been in denial…From everything she tells me, it seems to me that there’s no reason she shouldn’t be able to come back – but what do I know of such things? And I know that she really wants to come back, but really wanting to and being allowed to are two entirely different things.

Have I mentioned the denial?

We’ll find out on Saturday if she’s coming back. Please keep your fingers crossed for us! We love Brenda – she’s like a part of the family, and we’ll all be heartbroken if she can’t come back to us.

Tinkerbells

Part of my conversation with Burke after school today:

Me: Did you guys sing today?

Burke: Yes!

Me: What song did you sing?

Burke: Tinkerbells!

Me: I don’t think I know that one. Can you sing it for me?

Burke: Yes!
(Breaks into song)
Tinkerbells, Tinkerbells, Tinker all the way….

Me: Uhhmmm….Are you sure it’s not Jingle Bells?

Burke: Nope…Tinkerbells.
(Breaks into song again…just to prove it.)

Okay then.

Grandma - Christmas 2005

Grandma - Christmas 2005

She would be horrified if she knew I was posting it, but it’s one of my favorites of my Grandma. She never got through all of her gifts πŸ™‚

This was taken exactly 1 month and 1 day before she passed away.

Dear Checkout Lady-

I’m really very sorry that I didn’t realize I was in the express lane until you were 1/4 way through checking out my items. What the heck is an express lane doing in the MIDDLE of all of those lanes anyway?

I’m sorry that you didn’t “have enough room to do anything” on the other side of the counter. This doesn’t mean that I’m happy with the bread being in the same bag as those heavy cans though. I’m one of those anal people who puts their groceries up on the belt in a SPECIFIC order…trying to make life easier for the bagger (or the cashier if you happen to be the bagger as well – or for me, I’m perfectly happy bagging my own groceries). I group all frozen, all refrigerated, all boxes, all cans, all fruits and veggies. There was simply no reason for the smooshing of my bread and bananas.

And the comments to the next person in line (who was also over the 14 item limit … just not by as many as I was) was not entirely appropriate as well. I apologized when I realized my mistake. If you were THAT disgruntled, you could have said something at the very beginning and I would have gladly gone to another lane.

Happy Holidays,
Nancy

Home Made

I’m looking forward to the time when the kids are all willing and able to create various home made gifts for the holidays. As it is – Burke and Maggie are more than willing…we’re working on the “able” part. πŸ™‚ (Logan seems to be willing as well – or at least very interested!)

Over the weekend, we painted some of those cheap-o paint-on-plastic ornaments for the tree. They had a BLAST with it, but didn’t understand that the more paint used (or the more brush-strokes used) the less paint would stick to the plastic…and then also wondered why there wasn’t enough paint for all of the little plastic pieces. They had fun though, so I guess that’s what really matters πŸ™‚

We also made paper chains to hang throughout the house. Maggie went at it like an old pro (turns out they’d done it at school recently as well). Who knew that paper chains took so much tape LOL! Another good time had by all.

We attempted a few more things (that I won’t go into detail about because who knows who reads this…) More fun to be had. Their imaginations are so much fun to watch and listen to. I’m looking forward to when they have a little more control over their very imaginative play. πŸ™‚
