No Post Today

Good thing I put two posts up yesterday…I’m under the weather today and just don’t have the energy to look for a picture for way back when-esday. (Sorry!)

Send good thoughts that my UTI will clear out quickly!!

In Honor of National Ballerina Day

Happy National Ballerina Day!

What? It’s Ground Hog Day?? Not in my family 🙂

For as long as I can remember, it’s been National Ballerina Day… 2/2 (tutu). You can imagine the celebrations on 2/2/02!

An example of an email from my Dad in 2001:

This is an automated response from your father.

Although most of the masses think today is “Ground Hog” day, we in the O’Daniel clan have been aware for years that this is really

“National Ballerina Day”

Those of us “in the know” can hardly contain our enthusiasm each year with the approach of 02/02.  Break out the noise makers and the rum punch.  Let your hair down and Twist Again with Chubby Checker!  Today is TuTu!

Those of you truly dedicated to the perpetuation of this sacred holiday should ALREADY be planning for next years MILLENNIUM Celebration.  Yes.. it only happens once every 1000 years.  You guessed it… TuTuTu!  Get ready NOW!  Don’t miss the opportunity of a lifetime… we will only see it once  02/02/02.  Or in the newest jargon  02.02.02!

Tu dot Tu dot Tu !!!!!!!

It’s coming……………….

Be Ready!

I can’t wait for 2/2/22

Makes My Monday: Family Meals

We often don’t eat as a family since Mike doesn’t get home until after 7 on the days he works (I feed the kids early and then Mike and I get a quiet meal after the kids are in bed). We try to make weekends family meal times…However, if I’ve taken the time to make something, many times one or more of the kids won’t touch it. (heartbreaking!!)

I made a Pasta Bake for dinner last night…and everyone asked for seconds 🙂

I wish I had thought to take a picture *before* we had eaten most of it…

A dish that the whole family will eat Makes My Monday!!

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Head on over to see what else makes people’s Mondays (there are always some really good ones!)

Recipe

Prego used to have specially marked jars for Pasta Bake. I was so disappointed when they stopped making it – until I realized that if I could recall the actual recipe, I could just use a regular ol’ jar of pasta sauce! So…here you go. Enjoy!

Pasta Bake

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of pasta – UNcooked (I use the curly, hollow pasta, Cellentani)
  • 1 Jar spaghetti sauce (I use Prego Traditional)
  • 1 spaghetti sauce jar filled with water
  • 2 – 3 cups of shredded cheese (I use a cheddar/mozzarella mix; sometimes I add Parmesan too)
  • Meatballs – cooked (Optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425.
  2. Put the pasta, sauce, and water into a 9X13 pan. Stir. Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  3. Stir. Add meatballs and cheese. Bake uncovered for 10 minutes.

(I usually just get the frozen meatballs and pop them into the oven beside the pasta during step 2.)

Baby Picture Sundays

This week’s theme is Pool of Drool. As I’ve been typically doing, I’m gonna tweak it a bit … it’s a pool of drool, but mostly from the bottle 😉

These pictures are from July 2005; the kids were just over 6 months old.

Saturday Snapshot: Licking the Spoon

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go over and have a look at what others are doing on this dreary Saturday.

Friday’s Fotos

I have a …strange… cat. He’s an orange guy…looks like a tiger, even named Tiger. He likes to jump in the shower with me if I forget to close the door (aren’t cats supposed to hate water??). He likes to pee in the bathroom sink (and sometimes more. *sigh*). One of his favorite spots during the day is right behind my laptop (I’m sure that the warm fan has something to do with that).

But the thing that takes the cake? He likes hair. Especially when it’s still on your head and smells good. If you’ve just taken a shower, he’ll jump up on the back of the couch and well, molest your head.

While here last weekend to celebrate Burke and Maggie’s birthday, my Dad witnessed this first hand.

"What's this cat doing to me??"

And the video to go along. Poor Dad was just trying to read to Logan 🙂

Blanket Wars

I’ve always known that I’m a bit of a … let’s say … blanket hog. Or perhaps the correct term is blanket thrasher.

While growing up, I actually had a hand-me-down king sized comforter on my twin sized bed because I moved around so much and the twin sized comforter just wouldn’t stay put. Seriously. When I’d wake up in the morning, there’d be a pool of blanket on the floor and I’d be freezing. It got better with the king sized one…but it still happened.

Now that I’m in a king sized bed … and sharing it no less … there are no bigger sized comforters AND I have someone who tugs back!!

When Mike and I first got together, I thought he was a blanket hog. (And I still do think that sometimes.) And I swear that he tucks ’em all under his body so I can’t budge them!!

As the years have passed though, I’ve noticed that when we wake up, more often than not, the blankets are more on my side of the bed. At first I felt bad…but then I realized that half way through the night, Mike throws the covers OFF!! And when that happens, my shoulders get cold, so I snuggle in (and ah, tug the covers back around me). So…it’s only sometimes that I hog ’em … and it’s Mike’s fault, right? LOL! 🙂

You’d think that having two blanket hogs would even the playing field.

Confession

I am a technology junkie. No. Really! 😉

I love all my gadgets and gizmos. My Flip, my Palm Pre, my Kindle, my iPod, my Garmin GPS (even if it does snootily say “Recalculating” if I make a wrong turn), and my DVR (how do parents survive without a DVR??). I’m sure there’s something I’m missing…but you get the idea.

I love blogging (like you couldn’t guess), Facebook, and Twitter. I love my online moms groups. I’d never talk with anyone if email wasn’t an option. Technology RULES!!

Except in one area. The one thing I refuse to turn over to technology? My calendar. I doubt that I’ll ever give up my planner. I need to see it all laid out on paper. I had an electronic calendar once – when they were first becoming popular – and I didn’t love it. So perhaps that’s jaded me and they’ve come a long way since then…but *shrug* And I DO use the calendar on my Pre (that can sync to the calendar in Outlook), but I use that mostly so that a reminder *dings* when I need to call into a meeting, or pick up the kids from school, or let Nanny Jessica go home, or head to some class somewhere. And I only put those in after I’ve consulted my paper planner!

Is there something out there that you’ve dug your heals in and said “Nope, not upgrading to that!” ..?
