Just Me

A conversation I had with Burke today

Burke: What’s that?

Me: That, my friend, is dinner.

Burke: Friend?

Me: Are you my friend?

Burke: (smiling) nooooo…

Me: Are you my son?

Burke: Nope. Just Burke.

Instrumental Payback

I’m sitting upstairs trying to get some work done, and all I can hear from downstairs is Maggie (and/or Burke) “playing” the recorder. Or the bongo drums. Or the accordion. And singing. At the top of their lungs. (I think Logan is trying to sing along too. Either that or he’s really upset. Could be either…) Normally, we all sing and play along together and have a grand ol’ time. It just so happens that I’m having a hard time concentrating on my work ANYWAY, and this is just contributing to it…And perhaps I should mention that my poor nanny has a headache.

Now, who do I have to “thank” for these lovely items in my house? None other than my little sister Sharon. Whose son turns 2 in about 2 months. I hear he’s really into drums…any other ideas for some really loud instruments I can get for him? 🙂

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one.

My 5th anniversary is coming up, so I’ve been looking through some wedding photos. This one always makes me laugh. Instead of that incessant clinking of the glass when your guests want you to kiss…we made them all sing. And the song had to have the word “Love” in it. *grin*

The wedding party

The wedding party - Singing* so we'd smooch

* If memory serves, they’re singing Love Shack here….

****EDIT**** Thank you to everyone who has congratulated us on 5 years…I’m a bit sheepish to say that it’s actually exactly a month from today until our Anniversary. So…”coming up” but just not THAT soon.

Fire Alarm Testing

This, coupled with my Bread post, is sure to put me on some watch list somewhere. (I’m hoping people realize that if I was really contemplating doing any of these things, I probably wouldn’t be foolish enough to WRITE about it.) I just can’t help THINKING about such things…and how, if *I’M* thinking of them, other – more evil – people might be too. Yep. I scare myself while thinking of the worst possible scenarios that could happen. *sigh*

Anyway…we’re having the fire alarms tested in our building at work today. We got an email yesterday stating plainly that they are being tested and to ignore the alarms when they go off. Now, if I were a (mentally disturbed) pissed off employee, might I take this time to ACTUALLY set a fire somewhere in the building..? It just makes me nervous that it’s announced so far in advance…that’s all. If I smell smoke, I’m running!!

No Pizza Today!

Well, actually – we ARE having pizza for dinner. Hmm…now there’s something to think about. (Subliminal thoughts for another post, I guess.)

I pulled into the driveway and there was Baby Bunny munching away on the carrots we left out! Yeah! (I did drive by the flat critter very slowly on my way home and still couldn’t tell if it was “BB” or not) I was so relieved to see him when I pulled in 🙂

Baby Bunny Road Pizza??

The kids were very disappointed to see that the carrots they’d left for Baby Bunny last night were still there this morning. I finally convinced them to go back inside for breakfast because Baby Bunny wouldn’t come back if they were standing right there. (That and poor Logan was strapped to the high chair waiting for more Cheerios…)

On the way in to work this morning, I passed by a critter that was not lucky enough to have gotten out of the way of some vehicle earlier on…I’m really hoping it’s not Baby Bunny! (Needless to say, I did not stop to investigate…in my glance while passing, it looked to be the right color, but perhaps a bit too big?? That may be wishful thinking on my part though.) The poor critter’s location was on the other side of the park down the street. Surely, Baby Bunny would not wander this far away from us…right? Perhaps that’s wishful thinking on my part as well… (And stop calling me Shirley.)

Keep your fingers crossed that Baby Bunny is okay. I’ll keep you posted!

Is It Just Me?

When I get out of the shower, I like to know (okay, I NEED to know) which end of the towel is up. Not a big deal for a freshly washed towel…but I don’t use a freshly washed towel every time, so if I over-think things I get all heeby-jeebied out. “Okay…this part dried WHERE before…and I’m using it on my FACE now???”

To make all things right with the world – I always make sure that the towel tag is on the lower right-hand side. Heaven forbid if that dang tag ever comes off…

I’ve seen the “Butt – Face” towels…but these are all wrong. You wrap a towel around you LENGTH-wise, not WIDTH-wise, so with these towels, half the butt part and half the face part are still in the wrong area!

Should I also mention here that I rinse off my soap before using it…?

Baby Picture Sundays- Gummy Grins

Debi is doing her Baby Picture Sundays again. And I’m in!

Here’s Logan at about 2 months old.

Hello

"Hello."

I’d put gummy grins of the twins up too, but I don’t have those on this computer. Maybe next time 🙂

Various Cute Things That Happened Today

Burke sang along in church today. He doesn’t have all of the words, but he gets the notes pretty darn close. And I’m pretty sure he’d never heard the song before (MAYBE once before…maybe.)

Maggie sings to herself allllll the time. She sings about what she happens to be doing at the moment. Even when she’s on the potty. “I’m peeeeeeing…on the pooooottttttttty” la la la (Kind of reminds me of the movie Elf…)

When the kids demand something, we give the hairy eyeball and that’s when they know (sometimes) to say “Please.” If, at this point, all they’ve said is please, we usually tell them, “please say the whole sentence.” Maggie was giving Burke Cheerios this morning, but making him ask for each one. When Burke would just say “please”, she’d parrot our mantra…to which Burke said, “The whole sentence.” Mike was so proud.

While we were out playing in the back yard today, Burke asked to pee in the yellow bucket. What *IS* it with boys and peeing in random spots? 😛

The kids (all 3!) attended their first baseball game today. We saw the Lowell Spinners (Red Sox Single A team) play Aberdeen. Burke was totally into it and grabbed a baseball hat on our way out the door (an old one of mine with a former work logo on it – we gotta get this kid a Red Sox hat!). He then proceeded to dance his way through the family-friendly, always-something-happening, tunes-rockin’ game.

Logan had his turn at dancing away as well. Maggie was just running back and forth making friends with anyone who would talk with her. My Twins group had purchased a block of tickets, so there were even other people there we knew.

On our way out, Burke spotted a “tractor” (Looked like a John Deere golf cart…). It happened to be heading into the parking garage we parked in, so we all jogged up the stairs and caught it on every floor. By the time the 3rd floor came around, the guys driving it realized what we were doing and gave a little wave. LOL! Burke wants to go back again. 🙂

When we got home, we saw our resident “Baby Bunny” in the yard. The twins, of course, took off after it. I think Baby Bunny is getting used to this though. He actually lets us get fairly close. We went inside in search of some carrots…when we brought them outside both Maggie and Burke were saying things like “Bunny!! Carrots for you!” and “Wooo Hoooo, Buuuuunnnnnny!” (at the top of their lungs). We finally convinced them that the bunny was scared of them and wouldn’t come out until we all went inside. I think it tickled Burke that something was scared of him…he repeated this numerous times.

…With a Chance of Showers.

Potty training is going pretty well. Maggie has gone for a few days without any accidents! And she even poos in the potty. I’m so proud 🙂

Burke doesn’t like to poo in the potty. At all. Lemme tell you – this is a fun stage. oy. He’d gotten pretty good at peeing in the potty and had even interrupted one of his “snits” to use the potty. Nice, right?

Today when I asked them both to use the potty before we went out to play in the back yard, he said “No. Pee in the grass. Like Daddy.” Uhm. I’m HOPING that he meant he wanted to pee in the grass standing up and not that he wanted to pee in the grass cuz he saw Daddy do this. (I’m fairly certain Daddy wouldn’t do this – perhaps in his former college days, but not now 😉 ) Needless to say, I didn’t let him pee in the grass. (We do have a potty in the back yard though, and he peed standing up into it…)

Since he’s been peeing “like Daddy” for the past few days, there’s no guarantee that he’ll hit his mark. I don’t mind that he wants to stand (it’s actually pretty cute), but it was definitely a bit neater when he would sit and “push it down.” He also thought it would be fun to pee on the rug yesterday. at my feet. naked. while company was here. *sigh* Sure – he hits THAT mark.
