I’m a little disappointed in the quality of the video once I uploaded it to YouTube…might have to look into that.

And in other news…

I’m movin’ on up to President of my local twin’s club chapter.

Happy Mother’s Day!

It’s been a great holiday here! It actually started about 2 weeks ago when Mike and the kids brought home a big package…and the kids just couldn’t keep a secret πŸ™‚ Mike put together a new double-swing for me!

And then my Mom sent gorgeous potted yellow roses and the kids (with Daddy’s help) got beautiful potted red roses…I believe we’ll enjoy both in the house for a little while and then find a spot in the yard to plant them.

Burke and Maggie made cute tea cup magnets at school…they couldn’t wait to give me those either. πŸ™‚

Add a whole bunch of cards and dinner out at the Japanese Steak House and you’ve got one great day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there!

Debi hosts the Baby Picture Sundays. Hop on over there to see who’s playing, and join in too! This week’s theme is Mother and Child(ren) – fitting, huh? πŸ˜‰

Saturday Snapshot: Swag Bags

I’m starting to put together the Swag Bags for the MNO on Thursday. 150 bags. I’m about 1/6th of the way there…

These things are gonna be awesome though!!

The pictures show the boxes upon boxes that have shown up at my door (13 boxes just for the totes!), my “stations” for putting the bags together, all of the stuff that goes into the totes (note: you won’t get an entire bag of Dove chocolates, but you will get a few πŸ™‚ ), and the stack o’ bags I’ve been able to put together so far.

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go over and have a look at what others are doing on this lovely Saturday.

I’m so excited because I’m helping out at one of the ones in my area. I’m putting together 150 Swag Bags…and let me tell you…holy SWAG!! (I’m secretly hoping that I’ll be able to keep one of them LOL!) Oh hey – as I’m typing, yet another box has been dropped off at my front door…wonder what will be in this package…It’s like Christmas around here! I think I’m helping out that night as well, but I’m not sure what I’ll be doing yet.

I’m also excited because…it’s a mom’s NIGHTΒ  OUT!! πŸ™‚

Saying “No” … Epic FAIL

I just got back from a meeting at Burke and Maggie’s soon-to-be-school. It was a parent advisory committee meeting…where I’m pretty sure I volunteered to be on the board. I think “treasurer” may have been mentioned.

So much for something having to give, huh?

Here’s my thinking…I like being involved with the kids’ “stuff” without being in their faces…so being on the board of something that helps them out seems to satisfy this. It also helps me to figure out what’s going on behind the scenes. Like…I’m fairly certain that I wouldn’t have had any idea that a meteorologist came to their school last month if I hadn’t been a volunteer with the PTO there.

So…what’s going to give? Well…starting soon (next month??) I’ll no longer be the membership chair of my twins club. Go me, right? Well…I’m actually moving to the president position. (I know, I know…) I’m told that it’s actually an easier position. We’ll see πŸ™‚

I’d love to say that my second job is still tiny and infrequent…but just about a week after I wrote that, it picked up. (Figures, right?) It’s still not that bad, and I enjoy the work…and the extra cash.

You’d think that since Burke and Maggie are changing schools that means I won’t have their preschool PTO stuff any more…except that Logan is starting school there in the Fall, so my guess is that I’ll probably continue with that. Luckily, it’s not a board position…it’s just an “I’m here!” type of thing.

I’m 100% sure that I will not be a Sunday school teacher again. Way too much pressure to be in front of people kids like that!!

My church women’s group meets monthly, but I’ve missed the past two because I was sick…so I don’t have much to report about that.

Oh, and I was asked to help start up a working mom’s online group. (Ya … guess what I said! oy…) I figure that it’s online. And it’s a mom’s group. And yes, I already belong to two (my town’s and my twins’ ones), but this one might serve different needs catering to other moms who also work, so perhaps playgroups would be when I could attend them (you know, in all my spare time LOL!) It’s still a baby, but it beginning to take off. And they’ve started a bunco group; I’m curious!

Okay…off to start another volunteer folder…

Makes My Monday: Growing Taller

Would you believe that I’m not talking about my kids??

I had a “well visit” today with my primary care physician … when the nurse weighed (we’ll skip that part) and measured me, I’d grown an inch! The secret? I have a ponytail in today… LOL!

Everything other than “you could stand to lose a few” (that I knew was coming) looks great. They took blood and I’ll be hearing back about that shortly…but I’m not expecting any surprises.

The fact that at 35 I can still get taller (even if it IS just my hair), TOTALLY Makes My Monday πŸ™‚

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Head on over to see what else makes people’s Mondays (there are always some really good ones!)

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

My preschool – way back when – used to have field trips where all of the kids and teachers would go out to a kid’s house for a home visit. It was a neat way to see how everyone lived and to feel more comfortable with your classmates.

This was a home visit to our house! I’m not even sure I’m in this photo (unless I’m the one on Stan’s lap with my tongue out..?) It looks like we’re eating lunch. πŸ™‚

Since my big sister (pretty sure she’s the one in pigtails ) and my big brother (pretty sure he’s the one in the red jacket) are both in this…it’s probably before I was a student at the school. Plus, based on the wallpaper and the lovely linoleum floor…this was pretty early on. So…maybe 1977? 1978?

Otter Creek House Visit

I’m Sleepy’s …

Remember the post about my stupid bed? Mike and I went back to the store yesterday to see what we could do.

I showed the sales guy the pictures I took (see previous Bed post), and his eyes nearly bugged out of his head. His first reaction was that we should call the 1-800 number to ask about the warranty and have an inspector come to the house to check out the mattress…which is fine – except that yesterday was day *20* of that 21 day time-period where they’d exchange the mattress…what happens if the inspector comes out and says “ya, that’s just normal wear and tear” …? Would we be SOL?

Well, we must have had someone smiling down on us because the district sales manager just happened to be in the store. He was super nice! He made a few phone calls and BAM! We’re getting a replacement mattress tomorrow. *NO* fees! Woot!!

Oh, and if the NEW new mattress starts to sag, we’re to immediately call the 1-800 number and they’ll know to replace the box springs. For free.

Thank you, Sleepy’s!! πŸ™‚

Was Grandma Right?

When my Grandmother first taught me how to make a bed, I’m pretty sure I looked at her like she had 3 heads. You see, she had me put the top sheet on up-side-down and inside-out (I know, right??)

Her reasoning behind this was because if you did it right, and folded down the sheet over the comforter, the pattern would be right-side-up and right-side-out.

I’m also pretty sure that the only time I ever made a bed this way was AT Grandma’s house.

My reasoning was probably along the lines of…”if it’s not made, you’ll see the pattern MY way.” Or “if I pull the comforter all the way up, you won’t see the sheet anyway.”

Enter the year 2010 and my need to purchase twin-sized sheets for my kids.

Wouldn’t you know it?? The tag is on what I would consider the “top” and the pretty boarder is on the “bottom”!! The princesses and Cars cars are up-side-down!!!

Now, I’m not sure if I should put these sheets on inside-out since the boarder is on both sides and THAT’S the part I’d flip down over the comforter…

But…was Grandma right??

I have no idea of when this picture was taken. I guess I look like I’m right around 2? Perhaps this was taken in 1976?
