Thursday Theater

Goddess hosts Thursday Theater. Wanna join in? Go add your name to the list!

This week’s challenge is to add music to your video. Thank goodness YouTube provides an option for that! ๐Ÿ™‚

This was taken over Easter weekend. Burke had just received a Cars remote control car…and someone seemed to be chasing Logan around with it. (Logan lets out a bunch of high-pitched squeals in this, so it’s a good thing the audio was swapped out ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

These come from 2 years ago yesterday – April 21, 2007.
The twins were 2 years, 3 months old.

Is It Just Me?

Am I the only one who thinks that the “bottom of the bottle” just doesn’t work as well as when you opened it brand new?

For example, I swear that the new bottle of shampoo works MUCH better than the dregs of that old bottle (even when it’s the same exact brand…so it’s not that my hair got “used” to it…) Same goes for the dregs of deodorant. And facial cream.

Oh. And while we’re on the topic of “getting used to it” … does that happen to you too? If I use the same shampoo too many times in a row, my hair definitely says “Enough already! I need variety or I’m going to lie FLAT!!” Ya. Same goes with the deodorant…if I don’t switch it up regualrly, my pits “get used to it” and decide that it’s not going to work any more. Lovely.

You should see my bathroom – all sorts of different types of shampoos and deodorant and girly stuff ๐Ÿ™‚

Fishful Thinking: Video

This (very short) video is a GREAT reminder for how we can raise happy, optimistic children. I know you know it all already, but I enjoyed it, and it made me smile. So now I’m sharing it with you ๐Ÿ™‚

I really wanted to embed it, but for some reason, WordPress isn’t letting me, so here’s the link:
Fishful Thinking Video

I’ll keep trying…

Full Disclosure: I’m a Fishful Thinking Ambassador.. .if you click the link, I will receive incentive points. However…I would NEVER sign up for something like this if I didn’t believe in it. And I would participate (and pass the information along) even if I didn’t get the points ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m a Snob

Yup – you read that right. I AM a snob. More specifically…I’m a brand name snob.

Clothes? Ya right…the only “brand” I go for there is “Red Sox”ย  LOL. Other than that – if it fits, I’ll wear it.

Shoes? Mmm…nope. If they’re comfy and cheap – I’m all over that.

So…what am I a brand name snob about? FOOD. I’ll pass over all those store-named (generic) brands in favor of my favorites. Every time. I’ve felt my hand linger over a generic food before, but inevitably, it’s always passed over for MY brand. Jif peanut butter, Smuckers Red Raspberry Jelly (with seeds), Cheerios, Kraft Mac & Cheese, Lipton iced tea…

It took me forever to gather up enough courage to try out the Costco brand things. (Kirkland is their brand name…not sure why it’s not just “Costco” … but perhaps that’s for a different post ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) And the first brand name thing I tried was non-food (baby wipes, to be exact….love them!) And honestly, the only Kirkland brand thing I’ve tried and haven’t been impressed with is their pizza. I suppose part of the reason their brand is so good is because they partner up with actual brand names…sometimes you know, sometimes you don’t. For example, I know that the Kirkland brand coffee is actually Starbucks. But I only THINK the Kirkland brand chicken is Perdue.

Is the generic brand really all that different than my brand? I’m sure in some cases yes, and in some cases no…but am I willing to figure it out? With the exception of Costco…nope.

Anyone know of other generic brand names that might be worth the switch?

Baby Picture Sundays

Debi hosts the Baby Picture Sundays. Hop on over there to see whoโ€™s playing, and join in too!

Today’s theme is “Here Comes the Sun.” My interpretation of this is: It’s finally sunny and warm out so we’re heading to the zoo! Or…We went to the zoo yesterday and I’m using BPS as a way to show off my pictures ๐Ÿ™‚

The zoo also has a play area…I think the kids enjoyed that more than seeing the animals!

There was a cool “spider web”.

p_00145p_00144And a slide that all 3 kids went on … about 30 times each.

Logan went down the slide with Burke’s help…p_00146p_00147…and lots of giggles.

Thank You Granny Frani!

Burke and Maggie got a package in the mail today, so they wanted to send along a little note of thanks.

Kiddo Conversations

I had the following conversations with my kiddos over the past few days.

Burke: Look at the clouds!
Me: Yes, it’s a little bit cloudy out today.
Burke: No. It’s a BIG bit cloudy.

Okay then.

(While watching Winnie the Pooh)
Maggie: Piglet is my favorite.
Me: Oh? Why is that, Maggie?
Maggie: Because he’s pink.

Duh, Mommy.

So. Am I the only one who thinks that pictures of cooked food never really looks that good?

That said, I’m going to show you our meal from Wednesday night. As you can see, I’m a HUGE fan of Pampered Chef (heck, I used to sell the stuff)…so the entire meal was made in stoneware. And let.me.tell.you… Baked potatoes in the fluted stoneware pan..? THE BEST.

Pork, Potatoes, and Ratatouille

Pork, Potatoes, and Ratatouille

(The extra dish is the leftover veggies that wouldn’t fit in the “real” ratatouille)

Ratatouille Close Up

Ratatouille Close Up

The pork (recipe from Goddess), turned out a bit lot whiter than normal. I’m guessing that it’s because I let it sit and marinate for longer than normal (36 hours instead of 24). The Ratatouille was from some random website search that lead me to Smitten Kitchen. Much like the author, Iย  saw the movie and had been wondering about that dish since. I’ve been meaning to make her version for a few weeks now. It turned out AWESOME. Who knew veggies could taste so good?!

Amazing Opportunity

Have you heard of Susan M. Heim? The one who wrote the following books:

  • Itโ€™s Twins! Parent-to-Parent Advice from Infancy Through Adolescence
  • Oh, Baby! 7 Ways a Baby Will Change Your Life the First Year
  • Twice the Love: Stories of Inspiration for Families with Twins, Multiples and Singletons
  • Boosting Your Babyโ€™s Brain Power

She also founded TwinsTalk and has written many articles for many magazines – both online and paper.

Do you have a question you’d like to ask her?

I have the opportunity to chat with her on the phone or send her a few questions via email (I’m not sure which one I’ll do yet – it may depend on the questions I/we come up with…and if I can get over myself and find the guts to use the phone…). I’d love to hear if any of you have something you’d like asked. No guarantee that I’ll be able to get to all of them – but I can try!

Please send your question(s) directly to me. Thanks for helping me out!

Ohh…and I also get to review her newest book, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Twins and More. How cool is that?! You’ll see the review here sometime next month.
