Silent No More

When I picked Maggie up from school yesterday, Mrs. Teacher made a point of letting me know that Maggie chatted the whole day!! Go Maggie 🙂 Who knew that all I’d have to do is blog about it, and the silence would end 😉

Random Logan Updates

  • His thumb looks just fine
  • As I was walking out the door to take the twins to preschool yesterday, he cranked his head around his high chair, waved his fingers and said, very clearly, “Byeeeeeeee!” (I almost didn’t leave 😉 )
  • Brenda says that he’s now taking more than just a few steps. Except that every time he sees me, he BOOKS it toward me cuz he can’t get to me fast enough – which means that he crawls – so I don’t get to see it! Soon…he’ll not want to crawl at all anymore, so I know I’ll see it soon 🙂

This picture was taken on March 11, 2006. Burke enjoyed pushing Maggie around and around on their little car. And Maggie loved being pushed. 🙂

All Hats Should Have Stripes

Yesterday, one of the wonderful ladies from my twins club posted a link to a site that creates personalized Christmas stories for your kids – for free! All you have to do is plug in some information, click the button, and then print it out.

So, trying to be a good mommy, I created one for each kid (there are even 3 different stories – sweet!)

Maggie LOVED her story. And even showed some comprehension! For example, on the first page of her story, it states that she was wearing a striped elf hat. We turned the page and there was a picture of a girl elf. Maggie pointed to it and said, “That’s me!” pause “But I need a striped hat.” Well! Okay then. We finished the story and then spent the rest of the evening putting stripes on all of the hats. LOL!

I didn’t take this picture, but I found it in my camera after visiting my Dad’s house this past August.

My Silent Chatterbox

Maggie’s teachers have asked us – more than once – if Maggie speaks at home. You’re kidding me, right? We can’t get her to stop talking. Or singing. Or just babbling.

Apparently, she speaks not a word at school. Not a single one. If she wants something she grunts for it (oy). I asked Mrs. Teacher if she was telling Maggie to use her words…(silly question, I know.)

One afternoon Mrs. Teacher told me that they witnessed Maggie going into one of the play structures they have outside and then babbling away. When she came back out, she was completely silent again.

And she only told me this story after showing surprise (“She does talk!”) when Maggie answered my question of who was in the picture she was coloring (Cookie Monster).

The people at church asked us if she ever speaks as well…

I’m baffled.

When I first got my camera, it came with some snazzy software. I was able to make cartoons and coloring books out of my photos! Perhaps I should re-load the software onto my “new” laptop and do some cool things again…

Burke and Maggie - November, 2005

“Borrowed”

While cleaning out Burke’s pockets today after school, Mike pulled out the following:

We don’t own any little blue teddy bears, so I can only assume that Burke was trying out his pockets while at school. With 16 little blue teddy bears. I didn’t even know his pockets were that big!

They will be returning with Burke on Wednesday…

WHO Did You Say Did It?

The other day I had both Logan and Maggie sitting on my lap. I wasn’t fully paying attention (probably reading blogs *blush*), but I knew in the back of my mind that Logan was bugging Maggie a bit – just climbing a little on her and such.

The next thing I know, Logan screams and starts crying. I looked at Maggie and asked what had happened. (Yes, they are on my lap and I didn’t see what happened…) Her eyes were really big and she had her hands covering her mouth…

“Maggie, did you hurt Logan?” Nothing. A quick inspection of Logan’s fingers that I knew were closest to Maggie’s mouth showed a tooth indentation. “Maggie, did you bite Logan?”

Big eye, all innocent…”No – Burke did it.” Ya. Burke is over on the other couch minding his own business, no where NEAR us.

A swift smack on the rear with the explanation of “We do not lie…and we don’t bite…but mostly we don’t lie.”

About a half hour later, I had gotten up to play on the floor with Logan, but had apparently left the TV remote over by the chair with Maggie. I hear Burke squawk because something happened to the TV. I looked up and Maggie came running over with the remote, “I did it!!”

Hmmm…lesson learned?
