Remember Logan’s 2-year appointment and how he was such a little peanut, Dr. Doctor wanted him to come back in 6 months to track his weight and height?
That appointment was yesterday. I wish I had paid more attention to the actual numbers when the nurse was measuring him because they weren’t recorded in his little blue book … it wasn’t a “typical” appointment. I remember that his weight is 26.7 pounds (up almost 3 pounds in 6 months), but I don’t remember what his height was (which, of course, is the thing that’s become worrisome). I do know that he is still in the 10th percentile (perhaps even 6th or 7th), so Dr. Doctor has now ordered blood tests. She said based on his growth chart, we could easily convince ourselves “either way” … but obviously, getting some tests done to rule things out is the way to go. She’s trying to rule out low growth hormone levels, thyroid problems, and celiac.
So, trooper that he is, Logan sat on my lap while they siphoned 5 vials of blood out of my poor little guy’s arm. He didn’t love it, but I kept talking to him about the donuts he’d be getting when we were done, so that seemed to distract him enough. And he even said “Thank you!” to the nurses when we were done, so he couldn’t have been too traumatized 😉
Keep your fingers crossed that nothing shows up and he’s just going to be little.
I was chatting with Maggie’s teacher about how she’s been working with Ms. Speech on her words and pronunciations. Mrs. Teacher told me that she had had a realization about Maggie. She figured out that if Maggie wants something, Mrs. Teacher has to ask her to slow down and then pay close attention (not the typical do-a-million-things-while-half-listening-to-what-your-kids-are-trying-to-tell-you thing…)
Their conversation? Maggie told Mrs. Teacher that Zimmers are strong (and made a muscle) LOL! (I wish I had a picture of that…)
I think Mike works on that with them heh
The thing is, Zimmers ARE strong…willed, anyway 😉 No, no, really…Logan was spinning the Sit-n-Spin around … with both him and Burke on it. Scrappy little bugger. 🙂
The picture wasn’t taken today…it was taken at Christmas…but my Dad was here for Burke and Maggie’s birthday over the weekend, so I grabbed a whole bunch of pictures off of his camera. And this picture of Logan TOTALLY makes my Monday 🙂

For a long time, if you’d ask Logan what his name was, he’d point to himself and say “ME!!” And while, technically…that’s not wrong…it totally made my day when he figured out that his name is, in fact, Logan. (Which, when I stop to think about it, he always knew…because he’d turn and say “what?” when you’d call his name. Curious.)
(17 seconds)
The thing saying his name to him is his Leapfrog Tag Jr…and I’m not sure why he’s got his finger in his mouth the whole time…
(And a picture to match the video)
"Hi there, Logan!"
Tails
Maggie requested piggie tails today!! She normally doesn’t want me to do anything with her hair (not that I’m any good at it…), or we just run out of time for anything more than a headband after it’s been brushed. But today – when we actually had time – she asked for pig tails 🙂

Logan’s name and Maggie’s request totally Make My Monday!

So…it wasn’t first sight here, but the grin says it all. And seeing Burke with Cousin Petra confirms that he’s just such a loving kid!! (most of the time 😉 )

On Sunday, I was walking up the stairs to put Logan down for his nap. About 1/3 of the way up, he dropped a sticker and pointed to it…so I turned around to get it for him…and lost my balance. Logan and I tumbled down the stairs and landed on the appropriately-named landing. I believe I said “Oh!” as my (thankfully very cushioned) bum hit that bottom step.
Being a mom, I tried to shield Logan from any bumps…which I THINK I did…he may have squished a finger between my elbow and a step, but that’s it, and it wasn’t bad. I KNOW it scared him. Hell –Â it scared me! (Nothing a little Elmo BooBoo couldn’t fix for him though.)
I’m not quite sure what I did to myself. I think I hit my elbow on the window sill …and then the upper part of the same arm on a step or two. (Some nice bruising there.) I have a few bruises on my bum, but nothing major. And I can’t tell if I hit my back or just wrenched it while twisting to get Logan out of the path of … well, me. I know my neck is tender because of the tensing up part…
Thank God nothing is broken – on either of us! I’ll take a little tenderness if it means that Logan was spared all of the pain.
