I Can’t Believe My Kids Got a Bedroom Suite Before I Did…

BUT … they needed it more ๐Ÿ™‚ (Poor kiddos – almost 5 and still in their cribs-turned-toddler-beds…)

For Christmas, we got Burke and Maggie an entire new bedroom suite. Including BUNK BEDS!! The whole set was delivered today. To say they are excited about this is an understatement. (I can hear all 3 kids playing in there with Nanny Jessica right now, actually!)

All 3 Kids on the Top Bunk

Going Up the Steps!

(This bunk bed has stairs instead of a ladder. Each step is a drawer as well!)

The Entire Suite

We got them: a tall dresser (Burke’s), a wide dresser with mirror (Maggie’s), the bunk bed with stairs, and a desk with hutch and a chair. (The desk needs to be pushed over a little in this picture…)

Merry Christmas Burke and Maggie!!

Waaaaaaay back before yesterday, I had these two old things:

These two beauties (my birthday present from Mike!) were delivered yesterday afternoon…and have already gone through 4 loads of laundry. Woot!

The delivery guy mixed up the hot and cold hoses and my favorite wool socks are now a wee bit snug…but Mike swapped ’em back and hopefully I’ll get some new socks for Christmas! ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I’m in love…

Fx4: New Dining Set

For all of my efforts with Fishful Thinking, I received a very nice gift card that made it so we could purchase a new dining room set! (I love Bob’s!)

Logan seems to like it…

If you’ve been following along with our kitchen renovations, this is Step 5! (Step 1 was new curtains. Step 2 was painting. Step 3 was staining the window. Step 4 was refacing the cabinets.)

We had the tile backsplash installed this week!!!

As you can see, it’s still a little dusty – I have to wait until tomorrow to wipe it all down because the grout is still drying. I couldn’t wait to post pictures though ๐Ÿ™‚

The guy who did the refacing said this is the BIGGEST turn-around he’s seen in a kitchen – ever. And he’s been at it for a while. tee hee ๐Ÿ™‚

Makes My Monday: Paint!

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation is awfully busy hosting all these great thingsโ€ฆ

I leave Mike alone for a week, and what happens?? I get the following rooms painted:

Hallway

Hallway

I don’t really go around taking pictures of my hallway, so no before picture. Mike did both the up- and down-stairs hallways!

Same as above…no real picture from before. (And I just couldn’t wait for Mike to take the tape off … so please excuse the blue lines LOL!)

The only before pictures I have of the bathroom are focused on the tub…not the walls, so no before picture here either.

Not a great before picture…but it gives you a little bit of an idea.

In honor of being in it for 2 years now, I thought I’d post a picture that I grabbed from the internet when we first started looking at the house.

HouseBird'sEyeView

Happy Anniversary!

No…not THAT one. We moved into our house two years ago today! Wow. We so need to put some pictures up on the walls. ๐Ÿ˜› Wait – that wasn’t why I was writing! Sheesh.

It’s been a whole two years, and I have to say – I’ve been really happy with our house ๐Ÿ™‚

Some improvements we’ve made (and by “we” I mostly mean “Mike” or a guy we hired):

  • put up the front fence
  • upgraded the electricity
  • upgraded the bathroom shower (and tiled the wall)
  • upgraded the kitchen appliances (and added a dishwasher…can you believe there was no dishwasher??)
  • refaced the kitchen cabinets
  • upgraded the furnace (damn thing)
  • got rid of all the crap bordering the back yard
  • planted some trees
  • put some stones under the grills and the fire pit
  • replaced the gazebo in the back yard
  • put a swing set in

And sure, there’s lots more we’d like to do (add a deck, put ceiling fans in the bedrooms, fix the front door so you can actually open it from the outside…), but for the most part we’re very happy. (I know – sick, isn’t it?)

Cabinets

Step 4 in our kitchen renovations! (Step 1 was new curtains. Step 2 was painting. Step 3 was staining the window.)

We had our cabinets refaced this week!!! We also have a gorgeous counter top and custom cabinets around the fridge and the stove now.

There are still some things to do (little things like touch-ups here and there, big things like painting the wall between the counter and the cabinets and putting tile up). The faucet is being installed as I type.

Stain

Step 3 in our kitchen renovations! (Step 1 was new curtains. Step 2 was painting.) Step 4 – the biggie – is supposed to be happening next week. I’m.so.freakin.excited!!!!!

I’m going to use the “After” picture from the new curtain post as the “Before” one here.

Mike worked SO hard on this. (I helped a little bit, but he really did the lion’s share.) We used a product called Stripeeze to get all the white paint off…which really worked well – except in all the nooks and crannies of the window sill itself. That took a lot of elbow grease in addition to the Stripeeze.

A Fresh Coat

…of paint!

Step 2 in the kitchen renovations. (Step 1 was new curtains.) I don’t know how many steps there will actually be…but there’s definitely at least one more (HUGE!) one. *grin*
