Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

Activities this morning reminded me of pictures from when the twins were about
15 months old.

Dieting Sucks.

As you may or may not know, I started dieting last November. I even joined the now-defunct Ladies of Loserville blog ‘party’ to help with the process. Knowing that I’d never make it if I set the hefty goal of “I need to lose 50 pounds” … I started out small…20 pounds was my goal.

As most diets go, this one started out great! By Christmas I had dropped about 10 pounds. And then slowly dropped another 5 … and then another 3 … and then gained, then lost, then gained. For the past month or so I’ve been wavering between 17. 9 and 19.7 pounds shed. I CANNOT hit that damn 20 pound mark.

To top it all off, I’ve gone back to my crap diet. I’m no longer counting points; although, I’m still a lot better about things than I was.

But I have NO motivation. None. Nadda. I want all that junky, carb-loaded, sugary-sweet, tasty good stuff. And I have no will power to not eat it! *sigh* (In an effort for full disclosure, I’m actually munching on potato wedges while typing this up…perhaps the motivation needed for a confession.)

I suppose I should stop moaning and just get up off my butt and get back on the diet. Anyone have any motivation to lend?

Makes My Monday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation is awfully busy hosting all these great things… I don’t know how often I’ll do this one, but I figured I’d at least play along today πŸ™‚

A successful back yard camping trip with Daddy for Burke and Maggie makes my Monday!

Poor Orange

Mike ran something over with our car, Orange, yesterday. Upon applying the brakes to round a corner, he found it difficult to slow down. YIKES!

He made it home no problem, but decided we probably shouldn’t drive it any more. A quick cal to AAA and a tow truck arrived about an hour and a half later.

(Note the brake fluid pool in the driveway)

The kids were facinated by the tow truck, but very worried about Orange.

Saturday Snapshot: Tea Party

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one too. Go over and have a look at what others are doing on this rainy Saturday. πŸ™‚

This might be a working tea party based on the note book on the table… πŸ˜‰

Thursday Theater: Pool Time!

I’ve put up a few photos of our new kiddie pool, but I figured I’d put some video up as well.

These were taken when we first put the pool up. The first video is the kids playing in it without water. The second is when there’s water in it.

…and you can see how much fun the nanny is too. At least… *I* think she is πŸ˜‰

I got my scanner humming again πŸ™‚

Last week’s day at the carnival with the kids reminded me of my own week of Field Days in Vermont when I was little. Man oh man – the rides! the horse shows! the livestock competitions! the tents and buildings full of home-made and home-grown things! the tractor shows (we were made to watch…) The FOOD!!

I must have been 3 or 4 here? Maybe 5? (1978-ish??) Not sure. And geez – I guess my hair WAS as red as Maggie’s.

VBS

Burke and Maggie are attending Vacation Bible School this week. It’s a community-wide event, so lots of different churches attend.

…which means that I keep running into people from our old church. I’m having a hard time with this because I REALLY liked the people from our former church. It was the minister we had a problem with…we just never really let people know why we left. And now that they see me trucking the kids to VBS, they pretty much KNOW we’ve left them for another church, but they don’t know why.

The really nice thing is that the ‘Tweens we knew at the church have come running up to give Burke and Maggie big hugs…and they even chat with me a bit. It’s the adults who are giving me the stink eye – or avoiding any eye contact at all. *sigh* I suppose I could march up to them and say “Hey!! How are you? I miss seeing you…”Β  But I’m such a chicken πŸ˜›

Anyway … the kids are loving it so far. At least…if I can get them to let go of me. Maggie has NO problem. Runs right in and faces the world with open arms. Burke, not so much. Day 1 was a drop-off in a smaller room and there were lily pads for him to sit on, so that was cool – mommy could take off no problem. This morning they were all meeting in the BIG room … lots of noisy kids. Burke did NOT want mommy to go. Luckily, his group leader had stickers, so she distracted him while I slipped out.

On my way out, I bumped into one of the said ‘Tweens from above. I mentioned to her that Burke was having a hard time (while trying to glance in the room undetected by him). She said she’d go hang out with him for a bit. Awesome. πŸ™‚

Wonder if her mom would have a problem if I asked her to babysit for us…

Blog Farts

Blog Farts – noun. Def: Crappy ideas that are too short to make a real blog post, but when combined, join forces to make one unified, albeit half a$$ed, post. see also: memes, surveys.

I’m just β€œborrowing” the termΒ  πŸ™‚

(If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably seen a bunch of these before. I figure if I get β€˜em here, they’ll eventually end up in my Blog Book.)

Why is it that Logan can run around ALL day barefoot…but as soon as his PJs are on, all I hear is “Socks! Socks!” The boy can’t sleep without his socks.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The pipes in our upstairs bathroom seem to get confused and occasionally the toilet gets filled with hot water. Sitting on a toilet that’s been filled with hot water is not as pleasant as it may sound…

Maggie has informed us that she now wants to be called “Marjorie” …that IS her name, but I’m going to miss Maggie. Hope it’s just a phase.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

After listening to Maggie insist that she’s “Marjorie” for the past few days, Burke is now trying to convince us that his name is “Tyrone”

Words to make any mom cringe: ‘I made a mess!!’ (while said kid in on the potty) *sigh*
