As you may or may not know, I started dieting last November. I even joined the now-defunct Ladies of Loserville blog ‘party’ to help with the process. Knowing that I’d never make it if I set the hefty goal of “I need to lose 50 pounds” … I started out small…20 pounds was my goal.
As most diets go, this one started out great! By Christmas I had dropped about 10 pounds. And then slowly dropped another 5 … and then another 3 … and then gained, then lost, then gained. For the past month or so I’ve been wavering between 17. 9 and 19.7 pounds shed. I CANNOT hit that damn 20 pound mark.
To top it all off, I’ve gone back to my crap diet. I’m no longer counting points; although, I’m still a lot better about things than I was.
But I have NO motivation. None. Nadda. I want all that junky, carb-loaded, sugary-sweet, tasty good stuff. And I have no will power to not eat it! *sigh* (In an effort for full disclosure, I’m actually munching on potato wedges while typing this up…perhaps the motivation needed for a confession.)
I suppose I should stop moaning and just get up off my butt and get back on the diet. Anyone have any motivation to lend?
HI nANCY,
I’m stuck also on 230. My goal is still 220. You are not alone, that darn choclate ice cream keeps calling. Love, Pop Pop
I despise dieting! I hate it. When I’m dieting, all I think about is what I’m going to eat next. The only advantage of pregnancy is that I’m not allowed to diet, and I’ve been so nauseous that most food repulses me.
I hope you reach your goal soon! I know it’s so hard.
Oh, I’m no better, that’s for sure.
But I have an idea. I have an extra copy of EA Sports Active for the Wii. I’ve only done it once, but it’s actual exercise and sweating. 🙂 And it has a built-in 30-day challenge. Want to do it with me? I can’t start until I get home from Chicago, but once I’m back, I need a major kick in the ass.
I know what you mean! I’m skipping the diet tonight & getting McDonalds! LOL
Jon, you are so thin that the only diet you’ll ever be on is the “Seafood Diet.” When you see food, you eat it.
Nancy, when you find out the magic motivation to get back on the diet wagon, let me know. I’m back to eating junk food (mostly desserts) for supper and the pounds are collecting around my middle.
I hear ya, Nancy! I’m in such a bad place diet wise. (feeling bad for myself I read all of your sad and lonesome posts at Ladies of Loserville the other day)
I leave for Vegas Sunday and I was desperate to be pool ready, and I’m just not feeling it. Ice Cream is calling to me, and being out of my school routine has only added to not allowing me to make good food choices. The one thing I will advocate to you- Unsweetened Cranberry juice (like from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods) has to be unsweetened, not just sugar free or whatever. Do 4 oz of it with 28 oz of water in a 32 oz container. Try to drink one container a day , and eventually two- it takes all your water weight off! You can add a little lemon or stevia (natural sweetner) if you find the cran too tart. This is one thing I will swear by!
I have given up on dieting and have started listening to my body. I have lost 9kg over the last year with very little effort. Seems to work for me – do not eat when not hungry and have small bits of what tastes great when you want to.
Hearing ya….I’m working my tail off exercising and watching what I eat (I hate the word diet) but geez louise….it seems to have stopped. My guess is maybe summertime. One would think that you would tend to lose more in summer because your more active but there is also lots of good things to eat – which I guess are not considered “diet” food. Don’t give up…..
I’m sorry, I wish I could help you, but at least you want to try! I don’t even have that much motivation. Good luck!
Anita and I are going to start walking together in September, once the kids are all in school (right after preschool drop off). Want to join us? It won’t help with the eating plan, but maybe it will help you burn a few extra calories.
