If you're gonna shop anyway, I'd really appreciate it if you'd click through my links to help support the growing needs of ballet slippers, art supplies, and soccer shorts. :)
When watching any sort of movie or TV show (or even just a Victoria’s Secret ad!) where a woman removes some clothing…it’s hard to not notice that the under things always match. Does this truly happen in real life?? Not MINE. I mean, sure – I have bras that match panties…but do they ever end up on my body at the same time? …never on purpose, I can tell you that!
Also – I typically wear a bra more than once before washing it…but (obviously) not panties. Do these ladies buy everything 1 for 1, or do they have 3 or 4 matching panties for every bra they own?
And … what happens if I like the darker or more patterned under things? I can’t wear those under light colored clothing, right? …well, I guess I COULD, but I don’t.
I suppose I DO match…but it’s more that I match my bra to my shirt and my undies to my pants! Lights with light, darks with dark.
I received a gift certificate from my Brother and sister-in-law for Christmas. This made it possible to purchase my Flip. And OHMYGOD, the thing is wonderful.
It’s super light – almost to the point where you might think it’s cheap, except that it’s anything but.
It fits right in a coat pocket for easy access, and is only slightly bigger than my cell phone.
The biggest button is the one you press to record video and then stop the recording. You can zoom (a little).
You can play back the video or delete it.
The thing is called a Flip because the USB connection arm flips out to connect it to your computer – no cords to lose!!
When you plug it in for the first time, it automatically loads the software that it comes with. Then, each time you plug it in after, it recognizes that you’ve connected and automatically pulls up the software.
Here’s where things get easy as well. FlipShare is super, super easy! You indicate the videos you want to save to your computer, or to a “Flip Channel” – where you can share the video with friends and family, or to a place online (Facebook and YouTube are just a drag-n-drop away!). You can edit the video by snipping it from the front or back, and you can string a few videos together. You can create a greeting card or – my favorite part – grab a snapshot from anywhere in the video!
The screen is a bit small, so it takes some getting used to the distance you need to be away from your subject. It’s just slightly different than a regular camera, but easy to get used to with some use. My only complaint is that it doesn’t zoom much at all. But … since I know that, I won’t try to shoot video of things that are far away π
Some samples for your viewing pleasure.

Hello?
I did not receive this Flip from an outside source to review.
I purchased it on my own with my hard-earned Christmas gift card π
Maggie was invited to a birthday party today (a friend from dance class). It took her a while to gather up the courage to go down this slide…she was so proud of herself for doing it!
I’m not really sure that it’s hit that it’s 2010. (Two thousand ten? Two thousand and ten? Twenty ten? Oh Ten?)
All the rage on twitter yesterday was “where were you 10 years ago…” I think that was the year that I’d just had a messy breakup and a friend from work brought me to a kick-butt party where 3 or 4 bands were playing in an old converted barn. Ah, good times. (I say “think” because anything more than about 7 years ago is just a blur and could have happened in any of 3 or 4 surrounding years. Is this a sign I’m getting old??)
Last year, we made a resolution to stay in touch/get back in touch with friends and stop being “parent hermits”. It went well for a while…and then, well…I just get so tired!! My comfy couch calls to me…the recordings from the DVR are there and ready to go…and ya. well. you know.
I think we’ll try the same thing this year. I’m feeling like I’m not in touch with many of my girl friends at all. I suppose part of that is that most of them live in different states! And I’ve met some really, really great people who actually DO live close to me…but do I invite anyone over and make an effort to be a friend? *sigh* no … I guess I don’t. I should do that π (I think part of it is just feeling like I’m “intruding” on lives that have already, for lack of a better word, started. I mean – some of the people I’ve met have lived here for a while and probably already have their own huge circle of friends, right?)
I suppose I should have some more resolutions – but I’m afraid that I’d just break ’em too quickly (*ahem* diet), so I won’t even write them π
I was going to write a whole long post to catch up with all of the things we’ve done over the past few weeks (Christmas, Disney on Ice, fun in Vermont, book review, etc.), but with my busy work schedule right now, all I have time for lately are snippets and picture posts…so I leave you this year with a picture of Maggie in the dress her cousin Jaine wore in our wedding. (you can see a picture of Jaine in it in the Wedding Story!) Jaine’s mom, Kahki, sent it to Maggie…so thoughtful!! (Maggie absolutely loves it – go figure π )
So, this isn’t a way-back photo (it’s from November), but it’s a way-back technique…so that counts, right?
We got silhouettes done of the kids as gifts to the grandparents this year. (This is actually a scan of the finished, framed project … I didn’t want to take it out of the frame!)
We went to our local library and each kid sat for about 5 – 10 minutes while Jean snip-snipped away at the paper. She was amazing to watch! She had an adjustable chair set up so she could position the kid to the height she needed and then a portable DVD player (with a fish DVD playing – lots of action) set up so that your child would look in the right direction. And then her hands just flew across the paper. I was quite impressed.
Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing β and join in too!
BUT … they needed it more π (Poor kiddos – almost 5 and still in their cribs-turned-toddler-beds…)
For Christmas, we got Burke and Maggie an entire new bedroom suite. Including BUNK BEDS!! The whole set was delivered today. To say they are excited about this is an understatement. (I can hear all 3 kids playing in there with Nanny Jessica right now, actually!)

Going Up the Steps!
(This bunk bed has stairs instead of a ladder. Each step is a drawer as well!)
The Entire Suite
We got them: a tall dresser (Burke’s), a wide dresser with mirror (Maggie’s), the bunk bed with stairs, and a desk with hutch and a chair. (The desk needs to be pushed over a little in this picture…)
