Is It Just Me? (with text this time)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of flossing…like when you get a popcorn kernel stuck between your teeth. Or beef (mmmm….beef). Or any type of Chinese food 😉

But I’ve found that the more you floss, the more you need to. I suppose it makes sense…when you floss, you create a bigger space between your teeth. So…more space for stuff to get stuck the next time you eat!

Note: Not sure what happened the first time I tried…it only took me 6 hours to figure out I had a blank post!

Makes My Monday: Helping Out

I saw yellow rose bushes at the grocery store, so I grabbed one because I think yellow roses are beautiful.

Maggie’s eyes lit up when she saw it…and she wanted to plant the bush RIGHT NOW. 🙂

Maggie’s enthusiasm (and all 3 kids wanting to help Daddy plant the bush) Makes My Monday.

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Head on over to see what else makes people’s Mondays (there are always some really good ones!)

Book Review: The Shack

I just finished reading The Shack by William P. Young. Wow. This is the type of book that keeps you thinking long after you’ve finished it.

Mr. Young tells the story of how Mack finds his way to God. Mack has gone through a huge (unimaginable) tragedy and – understandably – turns away from God. This is the story of how he journeys back.

The way Mr. Young describes God, Jesus, and everyone else involved is – in a round-about way – how I have pictured God…without really knowing it. I mean…if I were able to write this well and put my thoughts together, THIS is how I think God is. (I can’t really explain any more without giving too much of the book away…)

The emotions you go through while reading this book are just incredible. More than once I had tears just streaming down my face…and not always because I was sad.

Once you’ve finished the story, I highly recommend going back and reading the Forward again. It makes a lot more sense the second time around and I think it pulls the entire story together.

I found myself fairly emotional while sitting in church today…choking up while trying to sing songs about Jesus. It’s happened before – just getting overwhelmed by what you’re singing or hearing…but it seemed even more deep than before since I was reflecting on the things I’d read. I also think I was moved more than normal because this book was recommended to me by my brother … someone I’d never really thought to label “religious.” (Not that I would now either…)

The Missy Project was created to help get the word out about this incredible book. I’m more than happy to link up.

…I forget to take a picture of the kids and you end up with one of me and Mike 😀

Friday’s Fotos: Baseball, Freckles, and Movies

Logan loves to play baseball…I’m not sure he’s quite got the hang of it yet but he’s got the right idea! 😉

No Strike Zone Here!

No Strike Zone Here!

(He’s such a goofball though, what you don’t see here is that as soon as Mommy throws the ball – to intentionally hit the *ahem* stationary bat – Logan giggles and falls backwards onto his butt. We could do this for hours…)

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I took the kids to see “How to Train Your Dragon” last week. Logan’s first theater movie! (Burke and Maggie’s second.) The movie had some scary parts, and the kids jumped some, but they LOVED it. (I thought it was pretty cute too 🙂 )

Burke and Logan

Maggie

(Don’t let the pictures fool you – Logan was in my lap the entire time. I took these while the previews were showing.)

Burke’s face has exploded with freckles! (I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised…I have them on me wherever the sun shines 😉 )

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

This picture was taken on April 17, 2005 in our old apartment. Burke and Maggie were 3 months old. My sisters and I were…older than 3 months 😉

Saying “No” … Epic FAIL

I just got back from a meeting at Burke and Maggie’s soon-to-be-school. It was a parent advisory committee meeting…where I’m pretty sure I volunteered to be on the board. I think “treasurer” may have been mentioned.

So much for something having to give, huh?

Here’s my thinking…I like being involved with the kids’ “stuff” without being in their faces…so being on the board of something that helps them out seems to satisfy this. It also helps me to figure out what’s going on behind the scenes. Like…I’m fairly certain that I wouldn’t have had any idea that a meteorologist came to their school last month if I hadn’t been a volunteer with the PTO there.

So…what’s going to give? Well…starting soon (next month??) I’ll no longer be the membership chair of my twins club. Go me, right? Well…I’m actually moving to the president position. (I know, I know…) I’m told that it’s actually an easier position. We’ll see 🙂

I’d love to say that my second job is still tiny and infrequent…but just about a week after I wrote that, it picked up. (Figures, right?) It’s still not that bad, and I enjoy the work…and the extra cash.

You’d think that since Burke and Maggie are changing schools that means I won’t have their preschool PTO stuff any more…except that Logan is starting school there in the Fall, so my guess is that I’ll probably continue with that. Luckily, it’s not a board position…it’s just an “I’m here!” type of thing.

I’m 100% sure that I will not be a Sunday school teacher again. Way too much pressure to be in front of people kids like that!!

My church women’s group meets monthly, but I’ve missed the past two because I was sick…so I don’t have much to report about that.

Oh, and I was asked to help start up a working mom’s online group. (Ya … guess what I said! oy…) I figure that it’s online. And it’s a mom’s group. And yes, I already belong to two (my town’s and my twins’ ones), but this one might serve different needs catering to other moms who also work, so perhaps playgroups would be when I could attend them (you know, in all my spare time LOL!) It’s still a baby, but it beginning to take off. And they’ve started a bunco group; I’m curious!

Okay…off to start another volunteer folder…

Makes My Monday: Growing Taller

Would you believe that I’m not talking about my kids??

I had a “well visit” today with my primary care physician … when the nurse weighed (we’ll skip that part) and measured me, I’d grown an inch! The secret? I have a ponytail in today… LOL!

Everything other than “you could stand to lose a few” (that I knew was coming) looks great. They took blood and I’ll be hearing back about that shortly…but I’m not expecting any surprises.

The fact that at 35 I can still get taller (even if it IS just my hair), TOTALLY Makes My Monday 🙂

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Head on over to see what else makes people’s Mondays (there are always some really good ones!)

Review: ORGANICALLY GROWN Toddler Clothing

Emily from Organically Grown sent a super cute outfit to Logan. They recently added Organic Toddler Clothing to their collection and wanted a few moms to try it out.

We received a two-piece outfit: a blue shirt with Nature Boy written on it and Khaki colored shorts. Oh my GOODNESS they’re so incredibly soft!!

Since I put this on Logan on a 90 degree day, the outfit took quite the beating. He was outside for most of the day playing in sand, water, dirt, grass, chalk, everything! At one point, I looked at the outfit and thought, “well, it was good while it lasted…there’s no way it’s going to get clean!” Boy was I wrong. Everything came right out – perfectly clean and still as soft as when we received it.

I’m told that at some point in the near future, I’ll receive some coupons for Organically Grown. Stay tuned because I’ll be passing some along to you! I’d highly recommend the Organic Clothing!!
