Makes My Monday: Family Play Time

I took today off because it’s Mike’s last Monday with the kids. (His new job starts next week!!) We took the kids back to Chuck E. Cheese and had a great time.

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Head on over to see what else makes people’s Mondays (there are always some really good ones!)

Last “Single-Mom” Weekend

Today marks the last day that Mike has to work on the weekend (for the most part…) YEAH!!!

Mike starts a new job – a “real job” – in a week. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited we are! And a big part of it – for both of us – is that Mike will have his weekends back.

Saturday Snapshot: Climbing the Walls

Literally.

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go over and have a look at what others are doing on this beautiful  Saturday.

Friday’s Fotos: Tanned, Tomatoes, and Baseball

While changing Logan out of his swimsuit and into shorts, I just couldn’t get over his tan line! He definitely didn’t get his mom’s pasty skin…

Logan's tushy

We got our first tomatoes today! And these aren’t from either garden…they’re the ones that sprung up from where we had them last year … apparently, a tomato escaped and rotted into the ground to provide us with two more plants this year. Yeah! 🙂

First Tomatoes of the Year

Burke and Maggie got their first baseball gloves  yesterday!

Maggie’s is pink and purple (See? You can be girly and sporty!).

Does This Mean I’m Getting Old?

There are a few things going on that make me wonder if I’m just getting old.

Like…my new found fondness for knitting.

And realizing that the creaking on the stairs isn’t JUST the stairs (my poor knee).

And really wanting to nap in the afternoons.

The thing that took me by surprise was receiving a package today. I signed up for a knit/crochet-of-the-month type club. The first package arrived today … along with brochures for mobility scooters, AARP, and Diabetes paraphernalia. WHAT?!

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

I was looking for something completely different (not even a photo) when I ran across this one. It was taken at the Prom my Senior year of High School (1992). I remember being really upset that my sister would be at it (she was a Sophomore, I think). Turns out that it wasn’t so bad 😉

(apparently this didn’t scan very well. I may attempt that again…)

Blog Farts

Blog Farts – noun. Def: Crappy ideas that are too short to make a real blog post, but when combined, join forces to make one unified, albeit half a$$ed, post. see also: memes, surveys.

(If you follow me on Twitter or FB, you’ve probably seen a bunch of these before. I figure if I get ‘em here, they’ll eventually end up in my Blog Book.)

It’s been since February since I’ve done one of these posts!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I need a website called IsItAWeed.com where I can upload pics of stuff in my yard to know if I should remove it!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Things you never want to hear from next door:  a chainsaw,  a CRASH!,  and a “Well, we didn’t want to do THAT.”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Wondered if I should be more freaked out than I am…and then realized that that just takes way too much energy.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack makes my toes happy.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Wondering what the white noise machine – set to Running Stream – is going to do to the overnight potty training with Logan.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Never go by a lemonade stand without stopping.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Note to self: Always cut the kids’ spaghetti *before* putting butter on it.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Whoever tried hot pepper jelly with cream cheese on a cracker the first time is a freakin’ genius.

Maggie created a sign for all to see that our house is now:
Time to Eat: Maggie’s Restaurant

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Me: Why am I not sleeping well lately?? Myself: Perhaps it’s your coffee addiction because of your Keurig. I: Duh, Nanc.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

So…who is REALLY being punished when I take the TV away from a kid??

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Only slightly embarrassed about going through the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru for coffee about 2 minutes after the McDonald’s drive-thru for a snack wrap.

Starting to realize that it’s hard to take a self-picture with your cell phone when you have short arms.

Makes My Monday: Sports Sampler

This week, Burke and Maggie are at a sports camp through our town’s Rec department.

They’re learning the basics about T-ball, basketball, and baseball. Other things are thrown in as well (like Field Hockey today), but those three are the corner stones.

My kids learning about team sports – and being super excited about it – totally Makes My Monday!

Magical

I mentioned the Magic Tree House series the other day. We’re almost through Book 3: Mummies in the Morning…and the kids don’t want me to stop reading. We even took the book outside today 🙂

When I stopped reading for a bit, Burke and Maggie requested to look at the book. While looking at the cover, they realized that Burke’s sunglasses are red…just like Jack’s glasses. And Maggie requested piggy tails…just like Annie.

Reading Mummies in the Morning

And then they realized they have a “tree house” … So Maggie went up and is pretending to be Annie.

"Annie" in the Magic Tree House

Burke, pretending to be Jack, yelled “I want to see a swing set!” and ran over to play on the swings. LOL!

Neat side-note…if you go to magictreehouse.com there’s a passport you can download. And when you answer questions about the books you read, you earn a stamp (also to download) for the passport! How cool is that?! 🙂

Saturday Snapshot: Shades of Mommy

Maggie caught a frog (toad?) in our backyard today (named Cinderella – of course).

Reminds me of ME when I was her age. I used to catch frogs in my backyard as well. My Dad would even catch them for me from our fields on the farm. I’d know he caught one when he came back on his tractor without his hat on…the frog would be safely waiting for me in the hat in his lap 🙂
