Saturday Snapshot: Company Party

Mike’s company had their Holiday Party today…and kids were invited! They had coloring stations set up and Christmas movies playing in the background. I think the CEO mentioned that there are about 30 kids. There are only 12 employees!!

It was cool to meet everyone … Mike works with a great bunch!

As you can see…Maggie was a little droopy. We didn’t quite make it through to the end (but almost!)…and we’re definitely skipping The Nutcracker tonight.

Sick Days

It’s been a rough season for The Zoo. We’ve all been sick multiple times. Burke missed a day of school last week and then another on this week. Maggie is just finishing up her 2nd day of being sick. (Fever, vomiting…good times.)

This morning Maggie fell to sleep in our bed…and woke up around 11AM or so … ready to head to school. And was heartbroken to hear that they’d started without her. She rallied for a bit, but the withered again this afternoon.

I’m hoping that since we’ve all been under the weather so much so early this season that we’re DONE with it…and we’ll all be healthy for Christmas and then for Disney!! (Shhhh! The kids still don’t know *grin* )

Christmas Card Extra

This is about the 100th picture in or so…..

First Book Party

I had my first Usborne Book party tonight. I have SO.MUCH to learn!! It was fairly laid back…and small, so I didn’t do a whole schpeal or anything…just showed off some of the books.

I need to find a good balance of salesman vs. pushy. Ido NOT want to be “that friend” who pushes books at everyone every chance I get, but at the same time…I don’t want to miss an opportunity. Hopefully when I get into it a bit more and know the books more intimately, I’ll be more comfortable about trying to book parties and REALLY selling the books.

For now, I guess I’m just going to have to be comfortable with knowing that these are kick ass books and hoping others out there know it too!

(wanna hold a book party? You’ll get lots of free books! *grin*)

Toasty!

It’s HERE!!! Our new Pellet stove was installed today! I’m so, so excited.

So, crazy story. Mike goes over to a buddy’s house for Poker night…comes back (omg, so late!) and starts talking about this cool pellet stove his buddy has and we need to go get one. Uhm…okay. (I’ll say anything at 3am to just go back to sleep πŸ˜‰ )

The next morning, we start looking online at some and find a local place that sells them…and go visit the next day. Here I’m thinking we’ll shop around a bit – this one is cool, maybe we’ll check out a few other places…nope. We buy it. Right then and there. Oh, and by the way, did you know that there’s a huge tax break going on right now if you purchase by 12/31? No? Well…BONUS!

(Then as we were signing the papers, Logan hit his head on a display hearth…so we forgot about the papers we needed to apply for until yesterday.)

The fireplace - BEFORE

The Pellet Stove - AFTER

We’re told we need to get a hearth extender…but OMG!!! I’m loving this thing already!! The 2 pallets of pellets (2.8 tons EACH) were delivered yesterday (holy huge semi – totally entertained the kids for a little while), so we’re set for the winter!

Makes My Monday: Last Minute Building Application – SCORE!

Remember when we were in the Fireplace store and Logan smacked his head? Well…right before that incident, the nice salesman had mentioned we might need to go to our town hall to apply for a building permit. (Not required in all towns; he wasn’t sure if it was for ours.) Needless to say, we forgot…and it’s needed for tomorrow!!

Thank goodness for super nice clerks at our Town Hall. I went in right after lunch and asked what I had to do…fill out a form, find an itty bitty number from the manual (which I don’t have – did we not mention that it’s not being delivered until tomorrow??), and then come back between 3:30 and 4:30 to get the Treasurer’s signature and drop the forms off.

Luckily, the salesman at the fireplace store was super nice as well and faxed me a copy of the number I needed!

I brought all of the forms in, paid my fee – and we’re all set for tomorrow!! (Come back tomorrow for what’s going on!)

The fact that everyone was super nice and I was able to get this all done, TOTALLY Makes My Monday.

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Head on over to see what else makes people’s Mondays (there are always some really good ones!)

It’s Beginning to Look a Little Like Christmas…

We started decorating!!

Saturday Snapshot: Card Games!

Friday’s Fotos: School Work and Homework

Since Burke and Maggie have different teachers, they usually end up with different school-work/homework (sometimes, same homework on different days). The last two pieces that have come home were SUPER cute though!

At school, Burke was asked to complete the sentence: “On Thanksgiving I…” The don’t help with the spelling and just let the kids have at it. This is what he wrote:

Give or take a few letters, it says, “On Thanksgiving I went to Grandpa and Nana and Aunt Meghan’s House.”

.

Maggie’s homework last night was to write an “N” word (she chose “Nancy”) and then use her “N” word in a sentence.

Yes. I melted. πŸ™‚

It’s NOT Just Me!

While growing up, I distinctly remember having a conversation with my Grandma about why she didn’t wear jeans. It boggled my mind that anyone would romp around in anything but blue jeans. At the time, she simply said, “Chinos are more comfortable.” Tee hee Chinos. That always made me smile. I suppose we’d call them Dockers or Khakis now πŸ˜‰

At the time, I’m sure I gave her “a look” meant to say you’re crazy, lady! And lovely lady that she was, she just let it pass.

I get it now. Not that I’m lounging around in Chinos (LOL!) or even Dockers…but I don’t wear jeans around the house.

Actually … if I don’t have to take Logan to school, I’m usually in my PJs for most of the day *blush*

And I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that last week at the grocery store, the clerk asked me where I work – she was jealous and wanted to wear jeans to work too. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that I’d actually “dressed up” to go there…

My conclusion is that Jeans are built for the young. My kids lounge in them all day. Me? As soon as I walk through the door – if no one else is coming over that day, I’m back into my lounging pants.
