Week in Review

I’m borrowing an idea from Debi – answering comments/emails for the week that I couldn’t or didn’t get to. (Thanks Debi πŸ™‚ )

Random Pictures from my Phone

Goddess – I answered this already, but I found the pool on Amazon.com for about $30. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000OUP07O

Tonya – Does the slide work on yours? As you can see, Maggie uses the “Slide” as a seat instead. Works just fine as that, but why bill it as a slide if it doesn’t work? And “hi!” right back at you – glad you found me πŸ™‚

Debi – I know, right?! I love my phone πŸ™‚ (Rumor from Sprint) I never expected the pictures, and the videos actually, to come out so well! Now I just need to get a bigger memory so I can take more LOL

Blog Hoppin’

Debi – I had Burke watch it (I was getting pretty sick of him watching “himself” dance), and he’s amazed by it as well. Pretty neat that a 3.5 year old “gets” it. πŸ™‚

Tonya – If you find it, let me know!!

How to Wear White

WhatACard – I hear you about the pale skin thing – I think I reflect more light than a mirror. *sigh* And true – these rules probably apply across the board πŸ™‚

“Mommy, Your A$$ is Broken!”

Heather – HAHAHAHAHA! I can imagine that “a$$ – a – sauce” would be a bit embarrassing in public. Thanks for the return laugh πŸ™‚ And thanks for adding me to your blogroll πŸ™‚

Scary Disney Movies

Goddess – Oh ya! Ursula! I’d forgotten about her (although, I’m not sure how … she’s nasty!)

Jen – Thanks for the head’s up on the Movie Madness carnival. I love movies, so this is perfect πŸ™‚ (And MAN did it generate a bunch o’ traffic!)

WhatACard – What’s Wonder Pets?

Emily – Ya, we’re still watching them here…I hope there won’t be any long-term impact πŸ™‚

Tash – Oh geez, Ice Age isn’t one Burke will watch. Freaks him out! Ice Age 2 seems to be okay – but he doesn’t like the “bad fish”

SharingMyStory – That *is* strange! I’d think the live action movies would be more scary than an animated one. Maybe that’s me πŸ˜‰

Amanda – This is what I’m saying! I suppose if they were all sappy, sugary we wouldn’t like them as much though LOL

Tabbitha Rose – Exactly! So many have death or hunting down to kill – it’s crazy.

Blake – Are you thinking Lady in the Tramp? I’ve seen 101 Dalmatians so many times that it’s now a blur and I don’t remember a pound scene… *blush*

Sleeping Babies

Debi – thanks for the idea πŸ™‚

Baby Girl, twinmom122606, and Cat – thanks πŸ™‚ We think they’re cute too – but we may be a little biased πŸ˜‰

Desirae – I think it’s an illusion LOL Maggie was pretty bald for a *long* time. And then she had short, fine hair. We didn’t think she’d ever get hair!

Tabbitha Rose – I’m pretty sure that the kids were in a crib…that whole first year is pretty fuzzy though! They were lucky in that they were only in the NICU for 2.5 weeks instead of the 2.5 months the doctors initially projected.

Thanks to everyone who commented πŸ™‚

Blogging Etiquette?

I’m pretty new to this whole blogging thing (still under a month here), and I’m trying to get the etiquette down. I suppose I could do a search, but I’m wondering what you all do…both when writing your own and when visiting others and commenting.

Commenting on someone else’s blog

  • Is it okay to just post a comment on random people’s blolgs? Even if they have *no* idea who you are? Do you just plunge right in, do you introduce yourself, or what?
  • Do you comment on every blog you read? Just the ones that ask questions or “move” you? What makes you comment?

Answering comments made on your blog

  • Do you reply in your own comments? Or email the person back? A combination of both? When do you do one over the other if it’s both?
  • Do you reply to everyone, or just people who ask questions or raise a good point?

Blogrolls

  • Do you ask before adding someone to yours? Or do you just add?
  • Do you ever say “no” if someone asks you? (I’m not sure WHY you’d say no, just thought I’d ask πŸ™‚ )

Thanks for your time πŸ™‚

Random Pictures From My Phone

Not much going on today so I thought I’d drop in some pics of the kiddos.

mmmm Cheerios Mmmmm Cheerios! (Seems to be a theme.)

You might think Logan enjoys being IN things with these next two, but it’s more that mommy likes to know where Logan IS when she gets a little busy…

Blog Hoppin’

At lunch time, I was hopping through some blogs (I don’t even remember how the heck I found this or where I came from) but I came across the following video:

Amazing.

(find the original, high-def one here:
http://www.vimeo.com/1211060?pg=embed&sec=1211060
)

(find out takes here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT8jA_pps3o&feature=user
)

***EDIT*** So I’m told that I didn’t really provide enough information about this post. The guy who made this is Matthew Harding. Apparently he decided to travel all over the place after quitting his job as a video game developer when they wanted him to create a shoot ’em up type one. He and his buddy got the bright idea to dance everywhere. His personal website isΒ  Where the hell is Matt? that started when he wanted to show his friends and family the dancing videos.

How to Wear White

I started receiving a “glamour” magazine out of the blue (bring it on – I’m not paying for it!) and flipped through it the other day to find an article titled “How to Wear White.” This woman obviously doesn’t have kids. And obviously has no self-image problems!!

So, I thought I’d write my OWN version of How to Wear White.

If you have children

  1. Don’t DO IT.
  2. If you must ignore rule #1, or if you will be going out without said children, do everything possible – including hugging and kissing said children goodbye – and THEN put on white clothing. Run out the door.

If you have self-image issues

  1. Find thicker material. There’s nothing worse than sitting down and having all your *ahem* curves show right THROUGH your filmy, flimsy white shirt.
  2. Don’t eat or drink anything that isn’t white. You know that it will end up on you.

“Mommy, Your A$$ is Broken!”

For the life of me, I could not figure out what the heck Maggie was saying this morning. And it’s not like I’m going to repeat what I THINK she’s saying (as I normally do so she has the chance to correct me). And I’m fairly certain she hasn’t been exposed to (too many) swear words – and a$$ isn’t really a common one we use anyway. heh

So, this morning while I was dressing Burke and Maggie was still lounging in bed, I hear the above. And then “Your a$$! Your a$$!” C’mon kid – it may be a little saggy – but *broken*?? Gimme a break!

She finally hops out of bed and points to my Red Sox shirt. The “S” is split over the button-up part. “OH!! The *S* is broken! Right! Yes! Yes it IS Broken Maggie!” Holy relief! LOL

I’m reminded of the movie The Toy … Jackie Gleasons’ character’s name is U.S. … but his southern belle wife doesn’t quite pronounce it that way. LOL

Scary Disney Movies

What is it with Disney – supposedly FAMILY oriented Disney – that makes them have a scary part in pretty much every single movie?? Don’t get me wrong. I’m a *huge* Disney fan – I was a member of the Disney Movie Club long before I had kids. But wow. I guess you don’t really realize how bad it really is until you’re watching WITH kids.

A random sampling:

  • Bambi – mom’s shot. ‘nuf said.
  • Beauty and the Beast – uhm. Not just the Beast…there are wolves too!
  • The Fox and the Hound – The entire movie is crazy! I remember a cute friendship story…watching it (ONCE) with my kids showed a very, very dark story where they’re always trying to kill the fox!
  • 101 Dalmatians – Cruela DeVil. She wants to make a coat out of the puppies.
  • Monster’s Inc. – The very first scene is monsters trying to scare a kid in bed. nice.
  • Lion King – Dad dies. Scar then tries killing off Simba. And Scar’s FAMILY!
  • Finding Nemo – Mom dies. (What IS it with mom dying??)
  • Little Mermaid – Shark scene.

So…we start watching and ack! a scary part comes up and my brain freezes…do I turn it off or keep it going?! I’m thinking that most of these would be scarier if I turned it off before the warm fuzzy happy ending, so instead of doing that, we brave the monsters and plunge right on through…

I guess the ones that were around when I was younger didn’t scar ME for life (at least…I don’t think they did! LOL), so perhaps I shouldn’t be too worried. But then again, I hear that we can’t help but scar our kids for life, so why not let Disney help …

***EDIT*** I’m told that this is a good candidate for another blog listing (see comments), the Daily Mish Mash and July Movie Madness, so I’m adding a link to over there…looks like fun!

Sleeping Babies

Oooh! How fun! Who Says 8 is Enough just asked for sleeping baby pictures. I’m game!

Here are Burke and Maggie while they were still in the hospital (2005) – obviously after they got out of the incubators. This is the picture we used for their announcement cards.

And here’s Logan (2007). This is the picture we used for his announcement card.

Let’s Go Fly a Kite

Mike took the Twins to the Park to fly their kites for the first time yesterday. They had a blast! Mike said that the other parents were in awe when he was able to get both kites up for the kids at the SAME TIME! I missed it since Logan was napping. (You’re totally singing the Mary Poppins song now, aren’t you πŸ˜‰ )

Here are some pics (click on one to see it larger):

Maggie’s trying to get her Kite in the air – she’s got the right idea!

She got it!

Burke looks like an old pro.

It’s EVERYWHERE!

…except maybe the diaper. Ya. It’s been one of THOSE days. Logan exploded through his diaper while sitting in his high chair this morning. A complete outfit change and a full load of laundry later…all is back to normal. Well, whatever normal happens to be at the moment. πŸ™‚

It’s EVERYWHERE Again!!

…except maybe the paper. The twins decided they wanted to paint this morning. Have I mentioned that they are 3.5? Thank goodness it was the water color paint … but I am going to have to break out the Magic Eraser in a bit to make the table white again… I suppose I’ll take paint over poo any day though πŸ˜‰

AND AGAIN!!!

…but this time it’s giggles – so it’s all good. Burke and Logan are playing with the pull-back cars. Pretty cute.
