25 Random Things About Me

In an effort to catch up on the blogs I haven’t been reading due to a busy work schedule mixed with a busy sick kid schedule…I’m going to post the 25 random things about me that I put up on Facebook. (Sorry to all my facebook buddies who already read it!)

Feel free to do one yourself πŸ™‚ Just let me know so I can go check yours out!

25 Random Things About Me
  1. Too many people have tagged me to do this to get out of it.
  2. I have lost about 13 pounds over the past 3 months.
  3. I still wake up and am amazed that I am married and have 3 kids…two of which are twins.
  4. I really, really enjoy blogging and tend to post daily.
  5. I really, really enjoy comments on my blog posts (hint, hint πŸ˜‰ )
  6. I’m always worried someone from one of my colleges will call and say “We found you out. You didn’t *really* earn that.” And take a degree away.
  7. I wish I kept in touch with my friends more than I do. (Facebook is helping…but it’s not the same as face-to-face)
  8. I miss girl’s night – board games with friends.
  9. I’m a home body.
  10. I do *NOT* like exercising, but I’m hoping the new Wii Fit will get me up off my butt.
  11. I work from home two days a week.
  12. I’m very good at my job – even though the software I have to document is sometimes WAY over my head.
  13. I’ve been asked to come back to every single (“real”) job I’ve left.
  14. I do a lot of side jobs: editing books, administrative assistant work, formatting proposals/applications, contract tech writing, etc.
  15. I might get addicted to Wii bowling.
  16. I used to be able to make friends VERY easily. It’s hard to fit into an ‘old’ neighborhood.
  17. I love spending time with my family and often experience FOMS (Fear of Missing Something) if they all get together without me.
  18. I miss my grandmother daily.
  19. I wish I could have met Mike’s mom.
  20. I love my kids dearly, but there’s no way in hell I’d be a good stay-at-home-mom.
  21. I love to read and I love to take baths, and I used to do both together – a lot – but rarely have the time for either any more.
  22. I truly enjoy helping others…to the point where I’m sure I come off as a know-it-all, but that isn’t my intent.
  23. TMI: my friggin’ period has been lasting for over 10 days for months now and I really wish it would just cut it out.
  24. I sometimes give out way too much information (see above).
  25. I have the BEST marriage ever. πŸ™‚

Logan Update

I know today is usually Fx4 day, but with all these doctor’s appointments, I just don’t have the time to round up a photo or two. Lame, I know.

Plus – Logan’s update is more important πŸ™‚

I ended up giving him the nebulizer treatment 4 times last night (every 3 hours!). Three out of the four times he didn’t even stir. The 4th time (5:30am), he popped his eyes open and stared at the mask for a long time. Then he reached out and grabbed my little bitty flashlight and was fine for the rest of the treatment. He even went back to sleep – for about 15 minutes. *sigh* Then he was up for the day. This seems awfully early when his usual wake-up time is 7:30!

One more treatment before we left for the doctor’s office, and we were on the road at 9am. (The appointment was at 10:00.) He fell to sleep in the car about 15 minutes away from the office, so a short little cat nap to energize him and make all the moms and teenagers in the waiting room ooh and aww over him. (Oh, and there was a twin mom in there who I TOTALLY stalked…I think she’ll be signing up for the twins club soon. LOL)

The doctor came in and checked the oxygen level (numbers are up) and his lungs (still gunky but better). I still need to give him the treatments every three hours, but I don’t have to wake up to do it over night any more. She said if Logan wakes up coughing or if I happen to wake up during the night to do one, but other than that – just during the day. And then by Sunday we should start weaning and shift to every 4 hours or so.

Yippie!! Both that Logans getting better and not worse, and that I don’t have to set the alarm to go off every three hours tonight! πŸ™‚

Happy Thursday

Okay. It’s time I jumped on the Happy Thursday bandwagon. Goddess has a whole (very touching) story behind the HT idea, so head on over there and check it out. And join on in!

So…why am I happy this lovely Thursday? Because Logan does not have Pneumonia. And he’s only borderline for the bronchitis. And because I didn’t wait to bring him in to the doctor like I had contemplated doing…

This morning went like this:

Mommy hears Logan coughing (still) through the monitor and decides that she’s going to call the doctor to make an appointment. Symptoms: Cough sounds different since yesterday; nice rash on left side of Logan’s face; runny, runny not-so-clear runny nose; sounds like Logan’s holding his breath and then taking labored breaths.

The nurse says, “Come on in!”

I should state here that our pediatrician’s office is about 45 minutes to an hour away. We love her (she has twins and a 3rd child – the 3rd is older than the twins though), so we don’t see any real need to change. I figure if there’s an emergency, we’ll be heading to the hospital anyway (and have), so it doesn’t REALLY make a difference…and it means that I get some alone time with the sick kid.

Okay…back to this wonderful Thursday…The appointment is at 9:40, so we leave at 8:30 to be there in plenty of time. The doctor listens to Logan’s lungs (a lot), checks his oxygen levels (a wee bit low), and decides to give him a nebulizer treatment right there in the office. Huh. okay – never done this before, but I should be able to handle it. They bring the machine and a mask in and tell me it’s okay if Logan cries for the 5 minutes it runs…in fact, it’s almost better if he does. Mmm hmm. Ya…mommy doesn’t like putting THAT much stress on him – especially when he’s sick, so when he showed signs of not liking the cool mask after about 30 seconds, I grabbed a pen and paper out of my purse and we went at it.

5 minutes later the doctor comes back, listens to his lungs and checks his oxygen levels again (both are better) and promptly orders an X-ray. Oh goodie! We head upstairs to the labs and hang out for a while. Mommy of the year over here had dressed Logan in a one-piece outfit, so I had him in his diaper and his coat – cuz they told me not to bother dressing him yet. So we’re running around – making all the old ladies laugh (and some of the doctors and nurses – but not all).

Finally it’s his turn to go into the room and mommy gets to hold him so he doesn’t move. More fun! He was a trooper though, and we didn’t have to re-do any of the x-rays.

Back down to the doctors office so she can read the x-rays and check the lungs again. LOTS of gunk in his lungs, but no real spots of pneumonia. She called it bronchitis, but said that it wasn’t really – just borderline. She wants him on antibiotics and also prescribed a nebulizer…that I have to give to him every 3 hours. Even over night. No sleep for me tonight! Eesh.

We finally left the doctor’s office at 11:20.

BUT I have to bring him back in to see her tomorrow morning. Poor little guy 😦

Today’s WBW is brought to you by photos that Mike’s father took. He converted his slides to digital and sent some discs to Mike. Holy COW – awesome πŸ™‚

I’m not sure what year this is, but Mike looks like he’s just a little older than Logan here.

Put Me in the Zoo

Maggie’s been really into one of her books, Put Me in the Zoo.

She usually points to the little girl and calls her Maggie. And the little boy, of course, is Burke.

Lately, she’s been asking for a yellow bow. Do you know how hard it is to find a yellow bow??

Since yesterday was her birthday, I had to at least TRY…but ended up having to improvise.

100_3739She loved it.

Friday’s Foto Finish Fiesta

Candid Carrie sponsors this one – head over to her blog and find LOTS of links for bloggers who’ve joined in! (You can join in too!)

My Dad makes shaped cakes. It all started when my sister, Meghan, was little. Was the first one a fish? I can’t remember. I know he’s done a tennis racket and ball, the Red Sox socks, a shoe, and many others.

For the twins’ past two birthdays, he’s outdone himself:

He’ll be doing one for them this year too πŸ™‚

HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY, BURKE AND MAGGIE!!

I can’t believe you two are 4 years old today!

Maggie, this morning you woke up and the first thing you said to me was, “It’s morning. I’m 4!” LOL

Burke, you poor guy, woke up coughing again. But you wanted to go to school, so we sent you. You’ve been on meds for about 24 hours now though, so you should be all set.

You both have grown so much in the last year – not only size-wise, but maturity-wise as well. You can both write out letters of the alphabet and know what letter certain words start with. You’re both singing and dancing up a storm!

Maggie, you love to read – all books, any books. And we also can’t tear you away from the TV. I’m guessing – if we let you – you’d sit and watch all day.

Burke, your favorite things right now are your computer and Maggie’s camera. We have so many fantastic pictures that you’ve taken! You love the TV almost as much as Maggie, but you enjoy reaching over the gate to turn it off too πŸ˜‰

I’m so proud of both of you. You both take care of your little brother – when you’re not terrorizing him πŸ˜‰ You like helping him out when he’s not in your way.

We celebrate tomorrow with Grandpa, Nana, Aunt Meghan, and Aunt Cathy. But today you get to hand out goodie bags to all your friends at school.

I love you guys!
Mommy
