Friday’s Fotos: Dog, Party, and Cake

Higgins has made himself right at home. Today he jumped up on the bed to be right beside me while I was working.Β  (Training evaluation tomorrow!!)

.

There were 36 kids (plus a few siblings) at Burke and Maggie’s Kid party. They had a lot of fun πŸ™‚

And they each got their own cake: a princess one and a Cars one.

.

This year’s shaped cake from my Dad was a soccer ball!

All this snow (OMG, will it ever end???) made me want to find a picture of Burke and Maggie’s first jaunt out to “play” in snow. They didn’t love it. πŸ˜‰

This picture is from December 9, 2005 – about a month and a half before they turned 1.

First Snow

Poor Burke didn’t even have any snow boots (or booties to cover his feet!) … bad mommy!

Holiday Concerts

Burke and Maggie had their holiday concerts today! And they were super cute πŸ™‚

They were, of course, at different times…but that meant I got to concentrate on one kid at a time – and worry about photographing only one kid at a time, so it was all good.

Here’s a sample of what I got to see today (video coming soon if I can get my act together).

Maggie Update

Maggie and I spent 2 hours at the pediatrician yesterday.

I called the nurse yesterday morning and chatted with her for a good 10 minutes about everything going on with Maggie. (The on-again-off-again fever since Wednesday, the cough, the vomiting…) She told us to come on in…our normal pedi was the emergency doc for the day, so we’d be seeing Dr. Pedi. Perfect.

We got there and only had to wait for a few minutes before being called into the exam room. The nurse did her thing and then we only had to wait a few minutes more for Dr. Pedi to come in. She chatted with me for a bit, checked Maggie over, and did a strep test. Told us to wait until the results for that came in. HERE’S where time was spent just trying to entertain a droopy Maggie. (She wasn’t that bad, actually.) Dr. Pedi came back and said, “No Strep…and I didn’t want to mention this before, but she’s got a *lot* of wax in her ears so I couldn’t get a good look at them…we’ll have to go in.” And OMG.SO.GROSS. How does one little ear gather that much wax?? It seriously looked like she pulled out a roly poly bug. Poor Maggie *screamed* the entire time. And Dr. Pedi could only get the wax out of one ear; Maggie was crying/screaming too much to get the big ball out of the other one. Dr. Pedi said that it was because it was hard and kind of like a scab. *barf*

ANYWAY…after all that, she sent us up to the lab to get X-Rays on Maggie’s chest thinking she might have pneumonia. Oh goodie. That was another HUGE chuck of time was dropped. Maggie alternated between whimpering and playing tic-tac-toe with me. The X-Ray tech was completely awesome, and did his thing quickly.

Back down to Dr. Pedi to read the X-Rays. No pneumonia. But…. “There’s a fuzzy spot on one lung that might be bronchitis.”

So, Maggie is now on the same meds I was on two weeks ago…only hers is liquid and tastes a hell of a lot better!

Friday’s Fotos: School Work and Homework

Since Burke and Maggie have different teachers, they usually end up with different school-work/homework (sometimes, same homework on different days). The last two pieces that have come home were SUPER cute though!

At school, Burke was asked to complete the sentence: “On Thanksgiving I…” The don’t help with the spelling and just let the kids have at it. This is what he wrote:

Give or take a few letters, it says, “On Thanksgiving I went to Grandpa and Nana and Aunt Meghan’s House.”

.

Maggie’s homework last night was to write an “N” word (she chose “Nancy”) and then use her “N” word in a sentence.

Yes. I melted. πŸ™‚

In December of 2006, Burke and Maggie were a month shy of turning 2 and had received two kitchen sets for Christmas (early!). This picture was taken on December 17th. (They still play with both sets!!)

Thanksgiving Play

Burke’s Kindergarten class put on a Thanksgiving Play today. (He’s been practicing for a few weeks now πŸ™‚ )

It was super cute!!

They did a few songs and then each kid had a line to say in the ABCs of Thanksgiving. (Did I mention that it was super cute yet?)

Burke’s line is at 1:54 (And the dance they did right before that cracks me up!)

(About 3 minutes long)

And the picture to go along with it

Makes My Monday: The 80’s?

Maggie requested a side ponytail for school today… (are the 80’s *really* coming back into style??)

When she got back home, she donned her roller skates.

I totally had an 80’s flashback. (And…I THINK that Makes My Monday πŸ˜‰ )

Three years ago today is when Maggie was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance because she whacked her head and ended up passing out and then throwing up when she came-to. (I’ve written about it before.)

This picture is from the day after: November 18, 2007.
