Something’s Missing

Can it be possible? Are we really a gate-free house??

Before:

Note the superyard and the gate on the stairs in the background

After:

Stair Gate: Removed!

Superyard Around TV: Removed!

Those were the last two gates up in the house. We removed the stair gate so that the delivery guys could get the king sized mattress up the stairs. We removed the superyard so the cable guy could get to the TV. The stair gate has been down for 2 days and seems to be going okay. The TV has been “free” for about an hour now. We’ll see how it goes. πŸ™‚

And…there will be a point in time when one more gate goes up. We used a gate across Burke and Maggie’s door when they first moved to toddler beds. Since it worked well, I’m pretty sure that we’ll put one on Logan’s door when the time comes.

Next up: Diaper free house! (whoooo boy.)

Quick Update

Logan’s doctor called around 6:30 last night to discuss the blood test results. He does NOT have a thyroid problem or celiac. He DOES have slightly lower levels of growth hormones. Apparently they run two of those tests. One was normal and one was slightly low…so off to the endocrinologist we go.

Dr Doctor is fairly certain that they’ll just look at him and say ‘he’s still a little young to tell for sure, bring him back in 4 months.’ …but we’d all be remiss to not do what we can.

Testing, Testing, 1…2…3

Remember Logan’s 2-year appointment and how he was such a little peanut, Dr. Doctor wanted him to come back in 6 months to track his weight and height?

That appointment was yesterday. I wish I had paid more attention to the actual numbers when the nurse was measuring him because they weren’t recorded in his little blue book … it wasn’t a “typical” appointment. I remember that his weight is 26.7 pounds (up almost 3 pounds in 6 months), but I don’t remember what his height was (which, of course, is the thing that’s become worrisome). I do know that he is still in the 10th percentile (perhaps even 6th or 7th), so Dr. Doctor has now ordered blood tests. She said based on his growth chart, we could easily convince ourselves “either way” … but obviously, getting some tests done to rule things out is the way to go. She’s trying to rule out low growth hormone levels, thyroid problems, and celiac.

So, trooper that he is, Logan sat on my lap while they siphoned 5 vials of blood out of my poor little guy’s arm. He didn’t love it, but I kept talking to him about the donuts he’d be getting when we were done, so that seemed to distract him enough. And he even said “Thank you!” to the nurses when we were done, so he couldn’t have been too traumatized πŸ˜‰

Keep your fingers crossed that nothing shows up and he’s just going to be little.

Makes My Monday: First Hockey Game

My Mom’s of Twins club got group tickets to a double-header hockey game yesterday. The first game was a CVS All-Star game that had players from Bruins past on each team mixed in with some seemingly random people who could skate. The second game was the Lowell Devils.

We went to the All-Star game only, but probably would have stayed for both if there hadn’t been an hour and a half wait in between. Sad that we didn’t see the Devils, but I don’t think we would have all made it through the whole thing.

Here’s a blurb from the website about the players who were there:

Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic will be a special guest coach as former NHL players such as Bob Beers, Andy Brickley, John Bucyk, Ken Hodge, Ken Hodge Jr., Don Marcotte, John “Pie” McKenzie, Rick Middleton, Bobby Miller, Bob Sweeney, Don Sweeney and Tim Sweeney take the ice.

Bucyk and Sweeney skated CIRCLES around the rest! (Don’t ask me which Sweeney it was though…)

The kids had a BLAST! (I suspect part of that was the free bobble heads, the popcorn, Gaterade, and the fried bread dough though… πŸ˜‰ )

Baby Picture Sundays

This week’s theme is Army Crawl. Fun πŸ™‚

These pictures are from July of 2005. Burke and Maggie were not quite 6 months old.

…And apparently we didn’t let Logan down out of his swing…cuz those are the only pictures I could find of him LOL!

Debi hosts the Baby Picture Sundays. Hop on over there to see who’s playing, and join in too!

Saturday Snapshot: Play, Play, Play

The kids were all playing VERY nicely together this morning! I *LOVE* it when that happens πŸ™‚

First was the Playmobile Pirate’s Treasure

Then was the Lego tower

And yes, they’re all wearing pink (or purple), girlyΒ  PJs. It’s not fair that girl’s PJs are so much cooler than boy’s…and when Maggie received some that Burke liked, we figured it wouldn’t matter much if he wore them πŸ™‚ And Logan’s are hand-me-downs (from his cousin Grey, actually LOL! πŸ™‚ )

Friday’s Fotos: Fun Dip

I wrote about snapping up some Fun Dip last week. My kids, apparently, like it much more than I do πŸ™‚

And just a little something to round out my week:

My New Diet Plan

…or…what happens when one of your kids’ forks falls to the bottom of the dishwasher and you run it…

Well That Just Stinks.

We’ve had a bit of a backslide in the ah, potty training department. There has been poo in Burke’s undies for the past two days. And when I ask him about it, he tells me “I just didn’t feel it.” Mmhm. And this is usually after I’ve witnessed some squirming and asked if he needs to use the potty (“Nope!”). And this is usually while he’s doing something he doesn’t want to stop doing (or can’t stop), like watching TV, playing video games, or in the car. Good times.

Luckily, we had the twins’ 5 year appointment today so I asked Dr. Doctor about it. She said it’s actually pretty normal and that perhaps we should go back to a potty “schedule” – every 2 to 3 hours, or a sticker chart. We’ll see.

On a brighter note, the appointment went really well! (Aside from the 2 shots each.) Both Burke and Maggie are still little peanuts (I don’t remember specifics, but both are somewhere between the 10th and the 35th percentile for all things). Maggie IS, however, slowly climbing the charts. Woot! They’re still on their own growth charts though, so there’s no worries.

Maggie’s Stats
Height: 42 inches
Weight: 37 pounds

Burke’s Stats
Height: 41.5 inches
Weight: 35 pounds

They had eye exams and passed with flying colors…oh and that reminds me, they passed the “I’m not color blind” test as well – although, Maggie scared us for a minute. Turns out the test was wrong LOL!

*Sniff, sniff* What’s that I smell? Is it…? Can it be..? SPRING TRAINING IS IN THE AIR!!

Today’s post is in honor of the wonderful game of baseball. The Red Sox have their first full workout today. WOOT!

As you know, there’s a slight rivalry in our household…I’m a Sox fan; Mike’s an Indian’s fan. We started the confusion for our kids early πŸ˜‰
