Favorite Movies: A – Z

Hey! Did you know that you can apply this Alphabet stuff to anything?? *grin*

I really enjoyed the Favorite Book post, so I thought I’d try out one for movies as well. Like the books, there are probably some letters that get the default movie title if it’s the only one I’ve seen starting with that letter…doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a favorite though. You’ll also notice that there aren’t a lot of recent movies listed. . . not a lot of time to get out to the movies lately. Go figure 😉

A – Airplane (A classic in my family)

B – Back to the Future

C – The Count of Monte Cristo

D – Dodgeball

E – Elf

F – Fever Pitch

G – Ground Hog Day

H – Holes

I – Indiana Jones (all of them – and yes, I know that the best one starts with an R)

J – The Jungle Book (Disney’s animated)

K – A Knight’s Tale

L – Lean On Me

M – Minority Report

N – The Never Ending Story

O – October Sky

P – Pump up the Volume (or the Princess Bride??)

Q – The Quick and the Dead

R – The Rookie (first date with Mike 🙂 )

S – The Sixth Sense

T – The Thomas Crown Affair

U – The Usual Suspects

V – Victor Victoria

W – With Honors

X – X-Men

Y – Yours, Mine, and Ours (the original)

Z – Zorba the Greek

Mom of the Year Award

Ya. Sign me up.

Last night I wasn’t feeling well and had decided to not go to my moms of twins meeting – so I figured I’d get some dinner going. Logan was whining, so I decided to let him come into the kitchen with me. The twins were watching a movie.

Every time I glanced over at what Logan was doing, he seemed to be fine. Mostly just playing with the empty water bottles in the recycle bin. At one point I glanced up and noticed a mess on the floor. I figured he spilled something that was left over in one of the cans in the recycle bin. Ya. No. He was sitting there playing quietly while his blood was dripping from somewhere – all over everything.

Heart in throat, I started to check him over. Both hands were covered, his mouth was covered, his clothes, the floor, the cans he was playing with. He cut his left thumb on a can that had the tab popped off. It was pretty deep and I couldn’t get it to stop bleeding for a while. But the little guy didn’t even really notice! I had him sitting on the sink splashing in the water while I was trying to apply pressure on his thumb.

Poor Mike. I texted him that Logan had cut his thumb and he needed to call me (I had tried to call twice, but he hadn’t answered.) He ran the whole way home from the train station. And of course, by that time Logan’s thumb was only slightly dribbling by this point.

Needless to say, the recycle bin will be moving out of the kitchen.

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

All Hats Should Have Stripes

Yesterday, one of the wonderful ladies from my twins club posted a link to a site that creates personalized Christmas stories for your kids – for free! All you have to do is plug in some information, click the button, and then print it out.

So, trying to be a good mommy, I created one for each kid (there are even 3 different stories – sweet!)

Maggie LOVED her story. And even showed some comprehension! For example, on the first page of her story, it states that she was wearing a striped elf hat. We turned the page and there was a picture of a girl elf. Maggie pointed to it and said, “That’s me!” pause “But I need a striped hat.” Well! Okay then. We finished the story and then spent the rest of the evening putting stripes on all of the hats. LOL!

What’s the Opposite of Intuition?

I got a new razor over the weekend…the Intuition. My 17 year old sister uses one, so I figured I’d try it out. Why not? She’s in the “in the know” age group …she swims year ’round …so you’d think she’d know about such things. right?

I used it for the first time this morning and I’m feeling all sorts of prickly right now.  Maybe it was just that I was trying to shave my legs while I had goosebumps – I hate that! (I got up a little bit early and the heat hadn’t kicked on yet…anywhere the shower wasn’t directly spraying was a wee bit chilly). But I think it might actually have something to do with the “Skin Conditioning Solid” that surrounds the blade. Cool concept – especially since I don’t use shaving cream or soap while shaving (just water, thanks) – but this possibly means that I’m not getting that nice clean, close shave I’ve gotten used to. I’ll obviously keep trying this “new” invention out (how long has it been around now?), but I suspect that once I get the Solid to where it works right, the blade will be dull.

Anyone else use this? Is it just me?

P.S. Just looked up Intuition … the antonym? Knowledge or reason. Hm.

I Think I Fixed It!

Whoo boy – this virus thing sucked. I got the Bratsk.exe/Antivirus 2009 virus last night. Here’s how I (hope I) fixed it.

DO NOT trust the “software” that comes up claiming to be antivirus 2009. I knew that I didn’t install it, and when it asked if I wanted to remove a bunch of registry keys, I had warning bells go off in my head. Don’t let it do *anything* – just ignore it, click the X to make it go away. This includes the bubble that keeps popping up on the system tray.

My virus scanner said that it couldn’t remove the bratsk.exe file – but when I went to where it told me it was located, I was able to delete it myself (and empty the recycle bin).

I then went to C:\Program Files\antivirus 2009 and removed everything that I could from there. I think there were 4 files that it wouldn’t let me remove. I didn’t trust the “uninstall” that came with it – I highly doubt that it would have uninstalled anything.

Then, I restored the computer to a point created earler in the week. Start menu –> Programs –> Accessories –> System tools –> System Restore.

When the system rebooted itself after the restore, I went back to the antivirus 2009 folder and deleted it.

I’m running the full scan again, but it seems to be gone! *phew*

More Computer Woes

It seems to be never ending. After having my computer fixed by IT two weeks ago, last week, the following keys were not working on my keyboard: Z X C M , . <Enter>. Makes for a fun time typing. I did a lot of copy/paste when I needed a letter! LOL Luckily, my IT guy was able to replace the keyboard within a few days.

Last night, my computer seems to have gotten a virus. SOMEHOW*, the “software” Antivirus 2009 was downloaded … this is not real software – it’s a virus. I’m still trying to figure out how to completely remove it. There’s also a “Bratsk.exe” file (or maybe more than one) that my virus detection software can’t remove. Any tips out there?

*I’m fairly certain that no one should search for “Chuck season 2 episode 1” …
