Friday’s Foto Finish Fiesta

Candid Carrie sponsors this one – head over to her blog and find LOTS of links for bloggers who’ve joined in! (You can join in too!)

I debated over posting this (thinking of his teen-aged years), but it’s just too cute – and I have no problem with kids playing dress-up πŸ™‚

The Dress Up Box

The Dress-Up Box

You can’t see it, but there are fireman, pirate, cow boy and other “boy” outfits in there as well – the dresses just “frill” over them LOL And I figure if Maggie can dress in those, there’s no reason Burke can’t try on the dresses.

And a video to go along with it.

I’ve Got an Idea

While thinking about my company’s “problem” and how they’re (hopefully!!) trying to save money by asking more people to work from home, I was reminded of something I read about how some companies are encouraging people to work from home and have no actual office buildings at all.

For a lot of people (like me), this is very attractive. I really enjoy working from home and not having to worry about traffic – or being interrupted over and over while trying to get some work done.

However, I recognize that not all people feel this way. A lot of people need to get out of their house and have somewhere to go to “start their day”. Others just don’t have the space for a home office. Some just like the atmosphere and socialization of an office setting.

I have the solution. I’m going to purchase a building in some suburb somewhere (more suburbs when my idea takes off). I will supply offices – with locking doors and office furniture. I’ll also have common areas – like a cafeteria/break room, printing areas, mail room, and conference rooms with video capabilities. That way, if a company has headquarters way off in one area, but needs employees in another area, they can rent an office or two from me. No overhead for them. That would mean someone from…say, Intel could be in an office right next to someone who works for…say, Yahoo.

There would be “floating” offices for times when a boss or co-worker needs to visit face-to-face with the one renting an office in my space.

I’m going to call my “business” Office Mate. (although, I’m open to suggestions.)

Anyone want to invest? πŸ˜‰

This one isn’t so way back, it’s from just about this time last year…Maggie’s first haircut!

Maggies New Do

Maggie's New 'Do

Don’t let that face fool you though…she did *NOT* want to be in the chair.

What Are You DOING to me

What Are You DOING to me??

She’s had one more since this one, but yikes – that was a while ago. Perhaps I should bring her back at some point in the near future…

4-Year-Old Check Up

The twins had their 4-year-old doctor’s appointment today.

They are still little, but they’re getting bigger!

Burke’s Stats
39 inches tall (up 3 from last year)
30 pounds (up 3 from last year)

Both of these are well below average, but Dr. Doctor noticed that he never stops moving and concluded that he just burns off a ton each day.

She was impressed with how fast he counts to 10, his ability to write his name (in lower case even – I bragged a bit *grin*), and his coloring skills.

Maggie’s Stats
40 inches tall (Also up 3 from last year)
32 pounds (Also up 3 from last year)

She’s average height but only 25% for weight. Again, Dr. Doctor isn’t too worried.

I had mentioned that we’re working on Maggie’s counting ability (turns out that it’s not just that she’s not talking to her teachers…), so Dr. Doctor tried counting with her. Maggie did just fine, but definitely had some help. (Part of the problem appears to be that Burke jumps right in and counts FOR her…not letting Maggie get a word in edge-wise…as demonstrated today.)

I also asked about Maggie waking up in the middle of the night complaining that her leg hurt. We always just assumed that she was sleeping on it wrong and it was falling to sleep on her…Duh, Mommy…did ya think perhaps, just maybe, it might be growing pains?? *sigh* nope. Poor kid could have benefited from Tylenol a few times there. Ooops! Well, now we know!

Logan’s 18 month check up is next week…wonder if he’s still in the 5th percentile…

Rumors

You may remember my dilemma about pre-school for the kids next year…and how the heck I’m going to get them there since we decided on the more appropriate (for them) T, W, TH schedule.

Well…my problem may be solved. There are rumors going around that in an effort to save some money, my office is going to be asking a few people to work from home more often. Are you KIDDING me??? Sign me up. I have no problem taking my “lunch hour” to shuttle the kids to and from school. And the hour commute each way is killing me anyway!

Apparently, my name came up as #2 on the list. Keep your fingers crossed that this will actually happen!!

Lower Case

Burke surprised us yesterday by writing his name…with lower case letters!

p_00390GO BURKE!!! πŸ™‚

I’m also including the card he wrote for Daddy on Valentine’s Day. He knows what letter each person starts with, so he writes that down and then looks at me and says “And then..?”

He ended up writing out everyone’s name on Daddy’s card.

Wishing For Summer

The other day, Maggie looked at me and declared “I like Summer.” I believe she had just seen some snowflakes. Poor kid. I like Summer too!

The sun was actually shining today, so we went outside for a while and pretended like it was summer.

Bad Haiku Friday

Laura at Catholic Teacher Musings hosts a Bad Haiku every Friday. Wanna try one? It’s pretty easy to create bad poetry πŸ™‚

Oh grand potato,
You are so tasty to me;
I’d eat one daily.

High Fidelity

One more from FB (If I write out the whole name, I get an alarming number of hits. Why are people searching on FB???)

Sorry (again) FB buddies!

Think of 15 albums that had such a profound effect on you. They changed your life or the way you looked at it. They sucked you in and took you over for days, weeks, months, years.

These are the albums that you can use to identify time, places, people, emotions. These are the albums that, no matter what they were thought of musically, shaped your world.

When you finish, tag 15 others, including me. Make sure you copy and paste this part so they know the drill. Get the idea now? Good. Tag, you’re it!

In No Particular Order…

1. Free to Be – soundtrack
2. Stand By Me – soundtrack
3. Peter Gabriel – Shaking the Tree
4. Great Big Sea – Road Rage
5. Simon & Garfunkel – The Concert in Central Park
6. Tom Lehrer – That Was The Year That Was
7. Smothers Brothers – Two Sides of the Smothers Brothers
8. America – America’s Greatest Hits
9. Beatles – Abbey Road (Or Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band)

12. Sister Hazel – Fortress
13. Elton John – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
