Kiddo Conversations

I had the following conversations with my kiddos over the past few days.

Burke: Look at the clouds!
Me: Yes, it’s a little bit cloudy out today.
Burke: No. It’s a BIG bit cloudy.

Okay then.

(While watching Winnie the Pooh)
Maggie: Piglet is my favorite.
Me: Oh? Why is that, Maggie?
Maggie: Because he’s pink.

Duh, Mommy.

Cookin’

When we visit Vermont, one of the things the kids look forward to the most is cooking with Nana. And boy – she doesn’t disappoint!

On the docket for today: Blueberry pie, cheesecake, dyed eggs, and cookies.

Burke and Maggie are in heaven.

My Present

While at work, I got the following email from Mike:

Maggie is making you a present. Burke is helping. We might need more tape, by the way….

When I got home, I received the following:

At first, I didn’t know if I should open it, or if the lovely packaging was the present. But Maggie assured me that I should open it. I didn’t want to ruin the packaging that she and Burke worked so hard on, so I very carefully peeled back a little and saw that she had wrapped this:

I lovely present indeed. 🙂

Baby Picture Sundays – Go Green!

Debi hosts the Baby Picture Sundays. Hop on over there to see who’s playing, and join in too!

This week’s theme is Go Green – for St. Patrick’s Day!

The following pictures were taken on St. Patrick’s Day of 2005 – the kids were just about 2 and a half months old 🙂

Thursday Theater – Song

Goddess hosts Thursday Theater. Wanna join in? Go add your name to the list!

This week’s theme is Song. The following clip was taken by my nanny at the time, Brenda, on her birthday – November 21, 2008.

Now…if you really wanna see Maggie go crazy – check out this post from September: Weekend in Vermont Part 3

A Glimpse

Over the weekend, the twins attended a birthday party at the local gym they love. (Actually, the lovely lady pictured in that other post was the one who over-saw the party – so that was cool.)

When we first got there, Burke didn’t want to leave my side, so Ms. Gymnastics asked if I wanted to go with them. I held Burke for a bit, watching what the other kids were doing. The ball pit (actually, foam squares…) almost enticed him…but it wasn’t until he saw Maggie’s glee while swinging on the rope swing INTO the ball pit that he wanted to join in. (And yes, that does say Maggie was swinging on a rope. Oh, my heart! LOL)

I was able to go and interact with the other adults for a bit. I only knew the mom of the birthday boy (she’s in my twins club), but everyone was very nice.

After a little while, I noticed that all of the kids were sitting in the ball pit – except for Burke and Maggie. Not my two. They were still running/bouncing down the length of the trampoline and jumping into the ball pit, then running around to do it again. And again. And again. They stopped only when Ms. Gymnastics mentioned that it was time to go get cake. (Yes, that was all before the sugar high hit.)

I was talking with Ms. Gymnastics while the kids were eating cake and she was telling me that everyone else told her that they were too tired to do anything else…and she was amazed at the energy my kids have. (And that I’m crazy to have another one at home…) Yep. A small, little glimpse into my life at the zoo 🙂

What a great place for a party though! The kids are ushered around and they get to burn off TONS of energy. They slept really well that night.

4-Year-Old Check Up

The twins had their 4-year-old doctor’s appointment today.

They are still little, but they’re getting bigger!

Burke’s Stats
39 inches tall (up 3 from last year)
30 pounds (up 3 from last year)

Both of these are well below average, but Dr. Doctor noticed that he never stops moving and concluded that he just burns off a ton each day.

She was impressed with how fast he counts to 10, his ability to write his name (in lower case even – I bragged a bit *grin*), and his coloring skills.

Maggie’s Stats
40 inches tall (Also up 3 from last year)
32 pounds (Also up 3 from last year)

She’s average height but only 25% for weight. Again, Dr. Doctor isn’t too worried.

I had mentioned that we’re working on Maggie’s counting ability (turns out that it’s not just that she’s not talking to her teachers…), so Dr. Doctor tried counting with her. Maggie did just fine, but definitely had some help. (Part of the problem appears to be that Burke jumps right in and counts FOR her…not letting Maggie get a word in edge-wise…as demonstrated today.)

I also asked about Maggie waking up in the middle of the night complaining that her leg hurt. We always just assumed that she was sleeping on it wrong and it was falling to sleep on her…Duh, Mommy…did ya think perhaps, just maybe, it might be growing pains?? *sigh* nope. Poor kid could have benefited from Tylenol a few times there. Ooops! Well, now we know!

Logan’s 18 month check up is next week…wonder if he’s still in the 5th percentile…

Lower Case

Burke surprised us yesterday by writing his name…with lower case letters!

p_00390GO BURKE!!! 🙂

I’m also including the card he wrote for Daddy on Valentine’s Day. He knows what letter each person starts with, so he writes that down and then looks at me and says “And then..?”

He ended up writing out everyone’s name on Daddy’s card.

Wishing For Summer

The other day, Maggie looked at me and declared “I like Summer.” I believe she had just seen some snowflakes. Poor kid. I like Summer too!

The sun was actually shining today, so we went outside for a while and pretended like it was summer.
