Happy Mother’s Day!

It’s been a great holiday here! It actually started about 2 weeks ago when Mike and the kids brought home a big package…and the kids just couldn’t keep a secret 🙂 Mike put together a new double-swing for me!

And then my Mom sent gorgeous potted yellow roses and the kids (with Daddy’s help) got beautiful potted red roses…I believe we’ll enjoy both in the house for a little while and then find a spot in the yard to plant them.

Burke and Maggie made cute tea cup magnets at school…they couldn’t wait to give me those either. 🙂

Add a whole bunch of cards and dinner out at the Japanese Steak House and you’ve got one great day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there!

Debi hosts the Baby Picture Sundays. Hop on over there to see who’s playing, and join in too! This week’s theme is Mother and Child(ren) – fitting, huh? 😉

Saturday Snapshot: Stray Kitty

This pretty kitty showed up in our back yard yesteday…obviously hungry. We, of course, fed him (her?)…and he came back today. So we fed him again. 🙂

We’ll put signs up around to see if anyone has lost a kitty, but Mike has given the go-ahead to bring him inside if he comes back AGAIN. (Wonder what our existing two cats are gonna think…)

Wonder if he’ll come back again…

Friday’s Fotos: A Priate Ship and MNO

As I mentioned before, our kiddie pool from last year needed to be replaced.

Behold the pirate ship pool!

Pirates!

The Dread Pirate Logan

The Dread Pirate Burke

(Yes, those are inflatable pirate hat, shield, and sword – 2 sets! And an inflatable treasure chest as well. Oh and the cannons shoot water if you attach the hose. LOL!)

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Last night, I attended the National Mom’s Night Out. (I may have mentioned one or two times that I put together 150 Swag Bags for this event…) It was sooooo much fun!! And my friends Tanya and VP helped out too!

Getting ready to unload the Swag Bags

Cupcakes from 5Bites Cupcakes

(The 5Bites Cupcakes were SO good! If you’re in the area, definitely give them a try.)

Waiting in Line for Things to Start

Edible Arrangements

(The Edible Arrangements fruit was good too – and went really fast!)

Refreshements Table

Mini Manicure

Make-up Sessions

Massage Chair

(The nails and massages were provided by Jesamondo Salon and Spa; the make-up was provided by Dianna Quagenti.)

And Land’s End provided very capable staff to do the swimsuit fittings. (I figured a picture of that would be a wee bit inappropriate though 😉 )

And the Swag Bags were such a hit that one woman begged for one for a “friend who is parking the car.” We told her that there were plenty and that when her friend got there, she could register for one herself. About 1/2 hour later, she was witnessed taking one of the bags that was behind the table! WHO DOES THAT?! We chatted quickly amongst ourselves and decided that we should go after her. Katie stepped up and got the bag back (explaining that the bags were meant to be one per person. GO Katie!!) Crazy night. But what a blast 🙂

Book Review: The Middle Place

I just finished reading The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan. I LOVE her writing style! She’s so refreshingly honest and incredibly real.

Ms. Corrigan does a mix of flash-back type chapters and current time chapters which go together really well. The flash-back chapters are still told from the view of “adult” Kelly, so your brain doesn’t have to do that ka-thunk that sometimes happens when too many different points of view are in the same book.

I loved reading about times when she knew she was being unreasonable, but she just couldn’t help it – who hasn’t been there? And how she works through things like being jealous of her husband’s relationship with his parents – even though she has her own very strong one.

The dynamics of Kelly and her siblings rang incredibly true as well – both in the flash-backs and the present day chapters. The love-hate relationships that were actually mostly love with a dab of frustration mixed in 🙂

The Middle Place is a fun, fast read that will make you laugh and make you cry. I’d highly recommend it!

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

I took these pictures of the house when we looked at it on April 30th of 2007. I instantly knew that it was the one we’d purchase (blocking out all the STUFF!). What a difference a few years (and new owners) makes!

Kiddo Converations

While driving to Costco the other day, the following conversation happened in the car:

Burke: I see a phone tower! And look at that cloud…it looks like a bunny!

Mommy: Burke, you’re so observant, I love that you see so many things.

Burke: Logan’s good at finding tractors and trucks, but I’m the best at finding everything else.

Maggie: (while giggling) Tree! Tree! House! Tree!

Makes My Monday: A/C

The 90 degree weather yesterday (80 today) just about did me in. (I get migraines…and if I get overheated…forget about it.)

Mike putting in the Window Box A/Cs this morning not only Makes My Monday, but also makes me able to function!

Baby Picture Sundays

This week’s theme is Have Your Cake and Wear it Too…my “twist” on this is mud pies…er…cake! 🙂

Saturday Snapshot 2: Pool Time!

The weather is so nice today that we broke out the pool from last year! (unfortunately, it’s slowly leaking both water and air…good thing I already figured they’d need a new one this year.)

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go over and have a look at what others are doing on this oh-my-goodness-hot Saturday.

Saturday Snapshot: Swag Bags

I’m starting to put together the Swag Bags for the MNO on Thursday. 150 bags. I’m about 1/6th of the way there…

These things are gonna be awesome though!!

The pictures show the boxes upon boxes that have shown up at my door (13 boxes just for the totes!), my “stations” for putting the bags together, all of the stuff that goes into the totes (note: you won’t get an entire bag of Dove chocolates, but you will get a few 🙂 ), and the stack o’ bags I’ve been able to put together so far.
