Spoke Too Soon

I kept Logan home from school today because he still had a fever yesterday (that whole “fever free for 24 hours” thing).Β  He’s doing fine…still a little droopy – but the fever eyes are gone! YEAH!

I sent both Maggie and Burke to school. While getting ready (and sitting on the potty) Burke mentioned that his tummy felt funny…but looked fine and acted fine, so I sent him in anyway…thinking “I’m going to get a call from the Nurse today…”

Nanny C’s fever rocketed again, so she didn’t come in today again.

Logan and I hung out for a bit…and then the phone rang. It’s the school nurse. Of course, my immediate thought is, “I’m coming, Burke!” …but no. It was Maggie…chucked her cookies all over. *sigh* Which means she won’t be going to school tomorrow either.

Burke made it through the whole day though πŸ™‚

Sure hope Nanny C. feels better tomorrow!!

Giveaway Winner!

Thank you to everyone who commented on my Book Giveaway! I now have a few new ideas for how to let each kid know they’re my favorite πŸ™‚

Mel – you are the winner!! Congratulations!!

I know where you are, so I’ll get the prize pack out to you πŸ˜‰

Not Much Happened Today…

I had all 3 kids home from school and Nanny C. was also sick, so I got pretty much nothing done. (Thank goodness for flexible time off at work! I was able to do a few things here and there…but not much.)

Logan is normally off on Wednesdays – which is good because he had “fever eyes” all day today. He was able to keep everything down though – so that’s good!

Maggie was MUCH better today. A little droopy though. And since she had a fever yesterday, she technically wasn’t supposed to go to school today anyway.

Burke wasn’t quite himself last night…and woke up this morning complaining of a headache. So instead of sending him in and then having the school call me a few hours later and having to pack Logan and Maggie up to go get him, I opted to keep him home today as well.

Needless to say, having 3 kids-who-are-sick-enough-to-stay-home-from-school BUT not-sick-enough-to-sleep-all-day made for a day of no work for me.

Logan will be staying home again tomorrow – he’s definitely not ready to go back yet; but Burke and Maggie will be heading back.

Not sure if Nanny C. will be back tomorrow … she just found out that she has Strep. Good times! (oy)

Sick – AGAIN!

Logan’s preschool called this morning so I’d come pick him up early…they were sure he was going to be sick (he made it all the way home and through a short nap before he actually was). Poor guy. I noticed he was shaking when I dropped him off – and even mentioned something to Mrs. Teacher…but we all dismissed it as the room being cold. Ooops.

About 3 hours later I get a call from Maggie’s teacher. She was "okay – but just not herself." Didn’t eat much lunch and was just sitting on the bean bag chair by Mrs. Teacher’s desk. So, I went to pick her (and Burke) up so she wouldn’t have the 45 minute bus ride.

And Nanny C. is out sick today as well…

How much you wanna bet that Burke is out tomorrow..?

Makes My Monday: Problem Solving

Last week Burke’s Art class started up again. He was really reluctant to go…and I had a hell of a time trying to figure out why – he LOVES this class.

After a lot of discussion, I *finally* got it out of him that he didn’t like being called “pizza man” by the class assistant (a super nice pre-teen with Downs Syndrome we’ll call Captain.) This was news to me because I’d seen interactions between Burke and Captain on numerous occasions and Burke has always seemed to really enjoy them. So…upon questioning a little more, I found out that one of the times Captain called Burke Pizza Man, it made all the other kids run after Burke. Ah…it all makes sense now.

So Burke and I chatted about things. And about how silly it would be if he didn’t go to the class and then found out that Captain wasn’t even there! And we chatted about what Burke might be able to do to let Captain know not to call him Pizza Man anymore. (Because, like me – I’m sure Captain thought Burke LIKED it – it usually brought about fits of giggles.)

I was finally able to get Burke to go by telling him that I’d chat with Ms. Art about it (and the promise of Burger King on the way home if he was good).

Fast forward to after class…I asked Burke how it went and he told me that Captain called him Pizza Man twice, but Burke chose to ignore it – and nothing happened. GO BURKE!! He was really proud of himself. (I was proud of him too!)

And this week? Burke looked forward to the class and had a great time. He even walked in and sat down right next to Captain. I think they’re best buddies again. And THAT Makes My Monday.

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Head on over to see what else makes people’s Mondays (there are always some really good ones!)

Dang Dog – Update

Have you ever had a bruise on your leg that was so bad that all the blood that blossomed under your skin at that point eventually ran down your leg (still under the skin) and pooled at your ankle (still under the skin)?

Ya…that’s where I’m at. The thing is, it doesn’t look as bad as it sounds. It does, however, hurt as much as it sounds!

Saturday Snapshot: He’s Gonna Jump!!

Burke up on the diving block at swim lessons. πŸ™‚

Dang Dog

It’s a good thing Higgins is so cute. Today has not been a great day for him!

6am: Higgins starts barking…which wakes Logan up. Anyone who knows me knows that this is a problem because I do not do well before 7am (oh who are we kidding…before 10am).

6:27am: Higgins jumps the gate downstairs and goes after the cat. Tiger makes a few laps around the house (with Higgins behind him) before I can corner Higgins. But not before Higgins runs into my right shin with his head – at top speed. (I’m now wondering if it’s the dog/cat ruckus or my swearing that woke Burke and Maggie…oh, and note that this is all STILL before 7am!)

8am: I pull a bloody cat claw out of Higgins’ head – right above the eye. (He’s fine.)

10am: I’m slowly able to walk without limping, but still unable to even touch my shin.

9:30pm: Walking fine, bruised, and still tender. How is it that the kids and the dog know just where to rest hands/heads/feets/paws??

Add to all that the apparent need for this dog to bark whenever he sees me walk down the stairs, walk up the stairs without him, or – heaven forbid – walk out the door…and you have one frazzled dog owner.

Good thing Trainer Mike comes again tomorrow!!

Giveaway: You’re All My Favorites

Sorry, this giveaway is now CLOSED.

I’ve been reading You’re All My Favorites by Sam McBratney to Logan each night before bed. To say that this story is incredible for families with more than one kid is an understatement.

This wonderful story is about a family of bears: mom, dad, and 3 baby bears. Each night, they’re told that they’re all the best bears in the world – which makes them feel safe and secure until one night when they ask which one is the favorite. The mommy bear’s answer to each baby bear is fantastic!!

This is one of Logan’s favorite books. And I’m thinking that I should probably round up Burke and Maggie and read it to them too – that just hasn’t happened yet. (Bad Mommy! πŸ˜‰ )

Because I love this book so much – I want to give one to you!!

Year 6 Wellness Check Up

Burke and Maggie had their wellness visit today. They both giggled a bit at the Johnnies. πŸ™‚ Of course…the Johnnies are a wee bit too big for them LOL!

Before going, Magie declared that she did *not* want a flu shot. Luckily, I was able to promise that she wouldn’t get one πŸ˜‰ They DID have to have a Chicken Pox booster though. (Nothing that the promise of Happy Meals couldn’t cure…)

Dr. Doctor – who has twins of her own – mentioned (more than once) that we should have professional photos done of them, especially together…because they’re absolutely gorgeous. I take that as a HUGE compliment coming from someone who sees kids all day every day.

The Stats

Burke:
39 pounds
44.5 inches

Maggie:
