Awwwww!

As I’m just getting back from vacation, I checked my email, and there’s a comment from Laura at Catholic Teacher Musings … she’s honored me with this!

BFF Gold Card

BFF Gold Card

My first Bloggie award!! (Can you see me blushing beaming from there..?) Thank you Laura!

Here are the rules:

Rules: You may choose 5 awardees

Choose 4 faithful readers of your blog.

1 should be someone new or someone far away.

Here are the people I choose:

Since I’m new to blogging, pretty much anyone I choose is new to me. πŸ™‚ After thinking about it for a while, here are the bloggers I’m bestowing my “you kick butt” on:

  • Goddess – you pretty much introduced me to blogging. I can’t thank you enough!
  • Heather – Kinda feels like we hold conversations though our comments. . . in a non-stalker-ish kind of way.
  • What a Card – you TOTALLY have my sense of humor, and your boys are about the same age as my twins, so I feel your pain – and laugh at it with you.
  • Cheryl – You just make me feel so at home. πŸ™‚
  • Mommy, Esq. – You JUST had your twins, and yet you’re still blogging. If that’s not dedication…Plus, it soooooooo brings back memories!

There are definitely more I wish I could list, but I’m limited to 5 😦

(More about our trip to VT later.)

Baby Picture Sundays – Generations

Debi is doing her Baby Picture Sundays again. And, as usual, I’m in!

This is so funny…I’d been holding on to this picture to use for one of the 3 picture posts I do weekly. I’m not sure what made me change my mind and use a different one last week instead…

My Favorite Teacher

Laura at Catholic Teacher Musings has asked that we honor our favorite teacher today.

I was going to be all cheesy and say that my High School Band teacher was the one who changed my life, but she also happens to be my Step-mom – so that just seems wrong πŸ˜‰Β  (She still kicks butt though – and I’m still tickled that she’s the one who suspended my brother for throwing a smoke bomb during marching practice…before she and my dad started dating. hehehehe)

ANYWAY…this one is for a college professor I had at Clarkson University. Thank you Dr. Karis for believing in me. I started at Clarkson as an engineer…and after struggling for two years (and being accused of cheating on a test when I hadn’t – perhaps that’s another post), I HATED it. I loved the school, however, and didn’t want to leave. So I slogged around looking for some place to fit in. I found Dr. Karis. He believed in me and gave me a fresh start in Technical Communication. By the time I was a senior, I had keys to the lab so I could come and go as I pleased and use all of the equipment when I wanted to. He noticed that a class-mate, Shannon, and I were in the lab so much that he bought beanbags for us … in case we wanted to sleep there LOL! (Ah, Shannon. We had so many classes together! Another professor asked us to be TAs … she was a far better TA than I was.)

Right before we graduated, the director of the Professional and Technical Communication department over at the New Jersey Institute of Technology contacted Dr. Karis asking him if he knew of anyone who would be interested in getting a masters degree with them. Dr. Karis immediately told her of me, and how I’d be perfect to go there. (I actually said “No way! I’m DONE with school!” at the time, but eventually ended up going.)

So – Thank you Dr. Karis. You changed my life and I’m forever grateful.

**** UPDATE! **** I just got an email from Dr. Karis!! He read my post! heh πŸ™‚

The twins are just over a month old here. We seem to have had a helper…

My Moment of Peace

I’m going to preface this by saying, this is going to sound *really* strange.

Logan was squawking in his chair for more food. Burke was pushing his cars all over the kitchen and around us. Maggie had just bonked her arm on the table and was squawking louder than Logan.

But as I was standing in the kitchen, hugging Mike for a little bit before he left for work, it felt so peaceful.

Gym Class

Yesterday was the last Gym Class session for the twins. They’ve come a long way since that first day! Sure, they still run around like wild Indians (Hmm. Does anyone say that any more? I guess it’s not so PC), but they DO listen to what they’re supposed to do in between all that running.

The Host

We had a play date today with another set of twins, Hannah and Sophie, who are just about a year younger than Burke and Maggie. We had a wonderful time and played outside and in. Burke, as usual, had a hard time sharing “his” outside toys. He’s very possessive about his Cozy Coup, Logan’s swing (so he can be in it), and his tricycle among other things. Inside toys don’t seem to bother him as much…there was the occasional “That’s not yours!” But he didn’t collapse into tears inside.

Once inside, we had some snacks and then played with legos and the kitchen items. And everyone decided to use the potty! While Hannah was sitting there, Burke very nicely brought her a snack and her milk…and then I noticed that all he had on was a shirt. Geeeeeez! He brought Sophie her snack and milk as well…with no pants.

When we had our play date last week with N and B (from What a Card fame – another really good time! These two will be in the same class as Burke and Maggie … how cool is that?!), I do believe Burke’s pants stayed on. . .

I certainly hope that this isn’t going to be Burke’s trend with the ladies…

Congrats!

Congratulations to another twin mommy blogger! Mommy, esq. had her twins on Monday!! Head over there to check out the beautiful picture of mommy and babies. πŸ™‚

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one.

I, again, have a series of pictures. These are from when the twins were born. They were in the hospital for two and a half weeks – these were taken while they were there.

Burke kept falling to sleep while feeding, so that’s why you see the feeding tube in his nose. (He hated it and yanked it out twice before they decided to not torture him any more.)
