Not Quite Right

On my way home from work yesterday, there was a big manly man truck in front of me. Not the kind that looks pregnant because of the extra wheels on each side, but big like that. On the rear windshield I saw a sticker: Carhartt.Β  You know, the “Rugged Outdoor Clothing” stuff.

At first I was like, “Hey – that’s cool – I like Carhartt, and apparently this guy does too.”

But then I got to thinking…uhmm…that doesn’t seem so manly. I mean, think about it – that would be like me putting a Talbots or Anne Klein sticker on my rear windshield. And seriously – have you ever seen one of those? I didn’t think so.

Oh man. It’s been a while again. Sorry!!

Are You Hungry?: What a Card – Uhm…I *might* try some of the things you’ve suggested…but maybe not πŸ˜€ ♦ Geez Jim, really?? I thought you were pickier than I was…

Happy: Oh good, Sharon – I’m glad to hear that there was no holding back … I’m sure Grandpa slipped in some more goodies as well πŸ˜‰ Sounds like a great birthday!

WBW: Thank you to everyone for not making me feel self conscious for posting that picture…and kinda like a “rock star” LOL!

Is It Just Me?: WAC – see, your clothes may be too tight…but mine don’t even FIT…like, can’t even button jeans. *sigh* ♦ Allison – I’ll have to venture into Lane Bryant (In all my spare time πŸ˜‰ ). I do like Old Navy, but I’ve noticed that all of their fabric is so THIN…I kind of like a little bit left to the imagination (or at least covered so as to not gross everyone out πŸ˜› ) ♦ Gio – You totally saw my eyes rolling from here, right? LOL I only feel a *little* sorry for you that you have to shop in the juniors section. TOO FUNNY about the Juicy butt though HAHAHA ♦ Mommy, Esq. – It’s a date! I’d love to go shopping with you πŸ™‚ ♦ Cheryl – A sack of wet kittens, huh? That sounds…hm. Words fail. *grin* ♦ Rhonda – You make a very good point. And no worries – my thunder is still around somewhere. LOL

A Big Sea of Greatness: Goddess – oooh, I bet BNL is awesome in concert…I could see them having the same type of energy. Hmm…something to check out. ♦ WOO HOO!! Debi’s daughter thinks I’m cool!! LOL Well…at least someone out there does πŸ˜‰ (Did anyone else just flash on Rudolph jumping around saying “She thinks I’m cuuuute!” No? Just me? Ah well.) ♦ Bia – You’re not alone. I’m always amazed at the number of people who haven’t heard of them. It’s quite possibly because they’re from Newfoundland…and it looks like most of their tours are on the East Coast (and Canada). ♦ Mommy, Esq. – More than happy to play GBS for anyone at any time πŸ™‚

Twins, Twins, Everywhere: Amy, I think I saw that article…there was much mayham about it πŸ˜‰ ♦ WAC – You’re kidding! I didn’t know that you bought your house from a family of twins…that’s interesting! ♦ Goddess – You were missed. I hope the kids are feeling better πŸ™‚ ♦ Jane – We TOTALLY need to do a MMOTA bloggie night out! That would be you, Goddess, Gio, WAC, Mommy, Esq., Rebecca, Rhonda, Snick…and I’m sure more that I’m not thinking of. Oh ya – uh, me too…but I meant others too…

It Was Horrible: Sorry you got stuck behind our parade, Gio. You should have hopped out and joined in! LOL ♦ Lori – I know, right? We were so happy to find a non-plastic (cheapo) fireman’s outfit! And it was only $20 at Costco!! Even the firemen at the parade were quite impressed – so that’s gotta be saying something. πŸ™‚ We’re going to put it in the dressup box when Halloween is over.

My Back Seat Driver: GrannyFrani – I think I remember you telling stories like that about Jim…didn’t they gang up on you and one would ask how fast you were going? … and then two seconds later the other would ask what the speed limit was? hehe ♦ Laura – I’m still tickled that you think Burke’s name is cool. *grin*

WBW2: I suppose I should explain…the moms I saw using two bowls/spoons actually had a VERY good reason for it…typically one twin would have allergies and the other wouldn’t. Although, I think I did meet one mom who used two bowls/spoons without the allergy thing going on…can’t remember who it was though. ♦ Cat – Another very good reason to use two of each!

A Rough Morning: Every time I see those pictures it makes me smile. LOL I suppose I should have saved them for today’s FX4 post, but I just couldn’t wait. Bia – I don’t think I could balance like that either! HAH! ♦ Laura – oh geez. Ya, I could see that making your sisters nuts. LOL

For Real?: Oh come on Jon, I said sorry right away! *grin* ♦ Heather – 20 minutes?? That’s awesome! …but I think I might then blog/complain about not enough reading time πŸ˜‰ hehehe

For Real?

I went to get Orange’s oil changed today. What an adventure.

First, the car was not in their system. Ya. The system of the dealership where we BOUGHT the car. Luckily, I knew this going in because I had asked a question about it when I brought Olive (the minivan) in last time. When I made the appointment, I mentioned that I was pretty sure Orange wasn’t in the system, so she told me to bring the registration in.

Second, the appointment was made for 11am. It’s only 15 minutes or so away from where I work (which is about an hour away from where I live), so I got there a little bit early to present the above-mentioned registration.

I look around and think, “Sweet! It’s empty in here, this should be nice and fast.” HAH! Boy, I should really stop talking to myself.

An hour and a half later, she comes to let me know that my car is ready. An hour and a half!! For an OIL CHANGE!

I got up to the payment window and casually mentioned, “Man, that took a long time…” left hanging so she could fill in… She said “yup.” I must have sent some daggers of “WHY, WOMAN!? TELL ME NOW!!” because she then went on to say that the garage doors were being worked on today. They were supposed to come in and work on them between 9 and 11, but started late (they must be related to the cable guys – sorry Jon). Therefore, they couldn’t open the bay door to get my car IN. When they were finally able to get it in, the guys started working on the door again, so they couldn’t get my car back OUT. For real?

At least I was able to read my book for a while without being interrupted…

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

Last week’s picture showed how I fed the twins when they were itty bitty.

This week’s shows how I fed the twins when they were just itty.

Double Feeding

Double Feeding

This was taken in August of 2005. I couldn’t move the spoon from one mouth to the other fast enough. I was always amazed at the twin moms who used different bowls and spoons for each kid…mine wouldn’t have been patient enough to wait for me to put one set down to grab the other. Heck, they weren’t patient enough when I ran myself ragged getting the SAME spoon into each of their mouths πŸ˜‰

On My Way Home

I had an eventful trip home from work today. To start it off, a song I’ve had in my head for the past few days came on my iPod (Santeria by Sublime…dunno WHY it was in my head though.) Right after it came Smooth Criminal – Alien Ant Farm’s remake of Michael Jackson’s song…bad a$$. And it always reminds me of my brother. Perhaps because he “sang” it to me through a church Christmas service one year…? LOL It effectively ran Santeria out of my head though. Then came Fleetwood Mac’s Never Going Back Again – which I absolutely love, love, love and could listen to over and over again. And it always reminds me of college because my friend Vinny used to play it on his guitar ALL.THE.TIME. (Good thing I could listen to it over and over again πŸ˜‰ )

Okay – that so wasn’t why I was writing. A few things happened (in addition to the iPod greatness).

Four Minor Heart Attacks

All because of four tractor trailer trucks. The trucks in-and-of themselves are quite common on the highway. It’s when you’re boppin’ along and head over a hill and see one that looks like it’s coming TOWARD you that kinda makes your heart stop for a second. Ya. I saw *4* different ones being pulled along. And only one looked new. What’s up with that? Bad day for the truck industry?

Rain

Again, not usually a big deal. Makes for a slow commute home…but mixed with a little bit of sunshine and I got to see a neat rainbow. πŸ™‚

That Rocks!

I was in the grocery store and witnessed a little boy (maybe 4 or 5 years old) running down the aisles singing “Woah oah oah oah oah, Hangin’ Tough” LOL! His mom must have noticed me trying to hide my smile laughing my butt off because she looked at me kind of sheepishly. And perhaps a little bit embarrassed…until she realized that I recognized the song (Oh ya. New Kids on the Block fan in the house.) Then she totally fessed up to going to the concert. Last week. HAHAHAHA That’s awesome. Wonder if they were as fun as when I was in high school….

My Back Seat Driver

I have a little fellow in the back of my minivan who now understands what a red light means, what a green light means, and when I’m supposed to stop before hitting something. It’s actually quite cute.

Whenever I drive somewhere and Burke is in the car, he’s always on the lookout for something I may have missed. “Red light, Mommy!” “…Stop!”Β  (Apparently he thinks I should stop before I do…) He (semi) patiently waits for the green light and lets me know when it turns. “Green light, Mommy!” He follows the path of the road, “Turn, Mommy!” (for bends in the road) or “Uuuuup” (for a hill) and “Dooooown” (for the other side of the hill). And he knows which way I’m supposed to go, “Turn now, Mommy! That’s our house!”And “STOP! Don’t hit the car!” Or house, or fence, or whatever else is in front of me when I’m parking. (I’m sure this is all making me sound like a bad driver, but I’m really not… LOL)

What he hasn’t quite picked up yet is that I can’t just “Go Fast!” when he wants me to. There are a lot of “Burke, I can’t go faster than the car in front of me.” said on any given trip. But I have to admit, I’m usually smiling.

It Was Horrible

…because it was supposed to be! πŸ™‚

Our town had its annual Horribles Parade yesterday. Apparently, they’ve had over 40 of them…I find that pretty cool, and it makes me love our new town that much more.

Anyway…we all lined up behind the fire truck. And when I say “we all” I mean, pretty much all of the kids and their parents in the town!! Or at least, it seemed like it.

Lining Up

Lining Up

All of the kids (and some adults) dressed up to march from the fire house to the high school (about 1/2 mile maybe?). There were a *lot* of really cool costumes.

Around the Bend

Around the Bend

As you can see, since pretty much everyone was in the parade, there were not a lot of spectators. I think I saw a total of 10 people watching…

Maggie insisted on walking down the yellow line. And she walked with her skirt in her hand – very princess-like.

Logan didn’t have a nap at all yesterday, but was – again – a very good little guy. He was just taking in the sights along the way.

When we reached the high school, we asked the fire men if it would be okay to take a picture of Burke in front of the fire truck.

Oh, and before we left for the parade, I just couldn’t resist this shot…

Twins, Twins, Everywhere

My mention of the twin mommy one street over got a few “wow” comments – I’m guessing from non-Massachusetts people. πŸ™‚

I think I’ve gotten over the “wow” factor for a few reasons…before I moved to my current town, I lived on a street where there was another twin mommy two doors down. She’s the one who actually introduced me to the twin club I’m in now. (THANK YOU JOHANNA!!) Her boy/girl twins are about a year older than mine, and we had a good time being down the street. Sad to say that we BOTH moved away from there right around the time play dates would have been really fun for us all. Ah well.

In my new town, we see double strollers all the time. I run into other twin mommies (some I know, some I just stalk) at the grocery store, at school, at Burke’s speech class, walking down the street. In my club, there are 3 twin moms who live within 3 blocks of me – and that doesn’t include the one we saw walking the other day!

The other reason is – and I know I’ve mentioned this before – I’m the Membership Chair for my twin club. Our club services the Greater Boston area and has more than 250 members. Yes: *250* members. The wow factor for me is that our club is not the only one in the area, and I’m pretty sure it’s not the largest!

Now – don’t get me wrong…just because the “wow” factor isn’t as it was for me, does not mean that I’m not super excited to stalk meet new twin moms and know that they live just around the corner. I love knowing that there are so many out there who just “get it” – I’m a firm believer that you can always learn something new from anyone and everyone. I’m also a firm believer in passing along information that may have helped me when I went through the same thing – usually only when I’m asked though πŸ˜‰

The thing that DOES wow me? 50 sets of twins in one place. Yup: *50!* My twins club had a Halloween party yesterday and the kids had a lot of fun. I got some “crowd shots” – but they totally don’t do justice to the situation, so I’m not even going to bother posting them. My kids were *ahem* angels, of course.

Maggie wouldn’t get out of the bouncy house.

Burke fell in love with the police car Cozy Coup (even though we have a red one at home).

And he wouldn’t let anyone else use it. Well…he got really upset when we, ah, requested that he let someone else. (It did kind of match his outfit…)

We were able to distract him with the Bouncy House though.

There was a parade at the very end, but our kids created their own when we first got there.

There was a kids’ music band that played for the second half of the party. Logan seemed to enjoy it. Or at least, he enjoyed his juice while watching…
