Quick Update

I’m not going to write a lot today…still feeling woozy.

I had a minor procedure done today. Obviously – I’m okay ๐Ÿ˜‰ They had to put me under but “just enough to put you to sleep…If I called your name really loud, you’d wake up,” says Dr. Gynob*, “And I promise that I won’t call your name!” (Have I mentioned that I really love my doctor? ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Anyway … I believe I’ve mentioned here before that I was getting my period ALL.THE.TIME. Well, Dr. Gynob decided that it was time we did something about it. My options were this surgery or 1 of 3 things that would completely mess with my migraines. No brainer.

Did the procedure work? I don’t know…the procedure itself makes you have your period ๐Ÿ˜› I’ll keep you updated.

How am I doing? Like I said, I’m a little woozy (thought I was going to be sick in the car on the way home), and I’m a bit crampy. Like – period crampy times 10, but still manageable.

I should be just fine in a few days ๐Ÿ™‚

Baby Picture Sundays – Creative Photos

Debi hosts the Baby Picture Sundays. Hop on over there to see whoโ€™s playing, and join in too!

Since my photos of the kids aren’t that creative…I grabbed one that I took over the past week and uhm, cartoon-ized it. That’s creative, right? *grin*

I also grabbed a few you’ve probably seen before and messed with them as well…

Removing the XL

As you probably know – either because you know me, or you’ve read previous posts (Bad Haiku Friday, this particular FX4, My Favorite Food: A – Z, 2008: International Year of the Potato…) – I *LOVE* potatoes. Favorite food – hands down. French fries are right up there with my mostest favorite-est.

As you probably also know, I’ve been trying to shed some pounds lately (19 of those nasty little things gone since November, thank you very much!). I’ve been keeping track with that ticker over there on the left-hand side.

So…it should come as no surprise that while I haven’t given up french fries, I have tried to limit my intake. Ifย  we go to a fast food place with the kids, I usually try to order the small sized fries. In theory, this is wonderful; I’m still getting those tasty little suckers, but I’m not ingesting the extra large box o’ fries. In theory.

What I’ve come to notice is that those small sizes are usually paper pockets…teeny tiny paper pockets. Pockets that hold only teeny tiny french fries. French fries that are so crisp, they could pass as potato chips. Apparently, all of the long succulent fries – crisp on the edges, but oh-so-potatoey on the inside – fall out and wait for those larger sized cardboard boxes.

So the question becomes, do I suck it up and try to enjoy the crispy ones, or do I ignore the whole “those aren’t good for you” thing and order a larger size? Torture.

Thursday Theater – Sunshine

Goddess hosts Thursday Theater. Wanna join in? Go add your name to the list!

This week’s theme is Sunshine.

We bought the kids their first bicycles! The new-to-us bikes came from another mom of twins (whoot!) who’s kids are actually only about 3 months older than mine. *sigh* My poor little peanuts ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway – I took them outside to enjoy the last little bit of sunshine on one of the few days everyone was feeling well enough to get out.

What has 7 Heads…

What has 7 heads, at least 14 kids, and writes a lot?

7 Bloggie Buddies who also happen to belong to the local twins club chapter ๐Ÿ™‚

I met up with Goddess in Progress, Rhonda, Mommy, Esq., Snickollet, Sotoriffic Twins, and What A Card last night for some drinks. What a blast we had! I had met everyone before (Snick only in passing), but it was so great to get us all together and just….talk and talk and talk. Since we all read each other’s blogs, we pretty much all “know” what’s going on – so it was like old friends meeting for a monthly (or even weekly) drink! I certainly hope we do it again ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s a few pictures…I’m not telling who’s who – cuz a few of us don’t post pictures on our blogs. (ya – that wouldn’t be me…you all know what I look like – which is good because the one picture I’m in, the waitress cut half of me off!)

Something’s Fishy Here…

Thanks to Cheryl, I’ve been thinking of fish!

Not THAT kind. THIS kind:

You may have noticed the banner over there on the left-hand side…I’m a Fishful Thinking Ambassador, which means that I’m here to help you and your kids! Okay…not me personally. But I’m here to tell you about this awesome program.

I don’t know about you, but I eat my kids eat Goldfish all the time. And I remember eating them when I was with my Grandma after school, so they always bring back great memories. Well, Pepperidge Farm has created this exciting new program, Fishful Thinking. And knowing the Pepperidge Farm name – and the quality of their food, I was delighted to see that this same quality carries over to their program. A quote directly from them:

The Goldfishยฎ brand cares about kids and wants to help inspire them to become the successes they were born to be. Through the Fishful ThinkingSM program, Goldfish provides parents with tools to help teach their kids how to navigate obstacles, overcome failure and achieve what they want.

Right? Sign.Me.UP.

So far, there is a quiz for you to take to see how resilient your child is, tips for playing emotion charades with your child, and a Spring Cleaning Optimism Article. And there are more things every week! (Don’t worry, I’ll keep you updated.)

Resilience Quiz

How resilient is your child? Find out with this short quiz, developed by Dr. Karen Reivich. Each time you answer a question, you will get a resilience tip from Dr. Reivich, with suggestions for how you can use a situation to help improve your child’s resilience.

Emotion Charades

Build your child’s emotional awareness through this simple, fun activity.

Spring Cleaning Optimism

An article on the mental and physical benefits of Optimism.

Definitely not something fishy there!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Full disclosure: As a Fishful Thinking Ambassador, I earn incentives from Pepperidge Farm for my participation. Every time you click one of my links, I get points toward the incentives. However, if you know me at all, you know that I wouldn’t endorse something I didn’t believe in!

My Present

While at work, I got the following email from Mike:

Maggie is making you a present. Burke is helping. We might need more tape, by the way….

When I got home, I received the following:

At first, I didn’t know if I should open it, or if the lovely packaging was the present. But Maggie assured me that I should open it. I didn’t want to ruin the packaging that she and Burke worked so hard on, so I very carefully peeled back a little and saw that she had wrapped this:
