My New Diet Plan

I’ve come up with a new diet plan that will not only help me lose weight, but it might also keep me warm!

I figured out that I won’t eat if I’m crocheting. . . I don’t want to get my yarn all dirty, right? So perhaps if I make a rule that I *have* to crochet at night while watching TV (instead of snacking), I’ll shed some pounds! 🙂 And … since my favorite things to make are afghans…I’ll be keeping myself warm for the winter as well. Win – win!

AND, since I discovered the nifty new Crochet hook (wanna win one?), my hands aren’t cramping. Woot!

Do you think my diet fad will catch on?

Removing the XL

As you probably know – either because you know me, or you’ve read previous posts (Bad Haiku Friday, this particular FX4, My Favorite Food: A – Z, 2008: International Year of the Potato…) – I *LOVE* potatoes. Favorite food – hands down. French fries are right up there with my mostest favorite-est.

As you probably also know, I’ve been trying to shed some pounds lately (19 of those nasty little things gone since November, thank you very much!). I’ve been keeping track with that ticker over there on the left-hand side.

So…it should come as no surprise that while I haven’t given up french fries, I have tried to limit my intake. If  we go to a fast food place with the kids, I usually try to order the small sized fries. In theory, this is wonderful; I’m still getting those tasty little suckers, but I’m not ingesting the extra large box o’ fries. In theory.

What I’ve come to notice is that those small sizes are usually paper pockets…teeny tiny paper pockets. Pockets that hold only teeny tiny french fries. French fries that are so crisp, they could pass as potato chips. Apparently, all of the long succulent fries – crisp on the edges, but oh-so-potatoey on the inside – fall out and wait for those larger sized cardboard boxes.

So the question becomes, do I suck it up and try to enjoy the crispy ones, or do I ignore the whole “those aren’t good for you” thing and order a larger size? Torture.

I Must Be Crazy

An in-real-life friend and blogger buddie, Goddess, has thrown down the gauntlet. She’s challenged fellow bloggers to join her in “searching for the wagon” – losing some weight.  I’ve decided that I need to do just that and will be joining her. Goddess even set up a new blog for us to complain about track things. I’ll also try to be brave and keep updates going here – but I’ll mostly be tracking over there. Let’s just suffice it to say that I’m starting out at large.

Why crazy, you ask? Because I’ve joined the online version of Weight Watchers at prime foodie time. Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. Not to mention all that Halloween candy that we can’t let the KIDS eat… *sigh* This is going to take a *lot* of will power…I’m totally a meat and potatoes kinda gal. Although, I do really like WW’s zero point soup…

Poor Mike. I hope I don’t get too grumpy  🙂 And I hope he doesn’t mind some of my WW recipes…

Keep your fingers crossed for me! And here’s to hoping that I don’t chew through my desk.
