Thursday Theater: Kid Photographer

Burke has really enjoyed the digital camera Aunt Sharon and Uncle Jason gave him for Christmas. (Okay, it was really given to Marjorie, but Burke has pretty much taken it over).
Here’s his latest video adventures.

Anger Management

Funny movie. Not great to deal with in real life.

Burke has been having some trouble lately…he’s been lashing out when he gets angry – and poor Maggie has been the one to take the ‘beating’ from him.

Over the past week, the following things have happened:

  • Maggie beat Burke up the stairs, so he bit her back as hard as he could (major bruises). I’m not sure Maggie even knew they were competing.
  • Maggie was hording the balls, so Burke hit her in the head with a (plastic) baseball bat. He lost fireworks privileges that night. (Our town has two nights of them and he saw the first night, so he knew what he was missing.)
  • Maggie was holding the hose to fill up the kiddie pool and wouldn’t share with Burke (after 10 seconds!)…so he hooked his finger into her mouth and brought her to the ground.

On the flip side, he’s also gone in to soothe Logan on multiple mornings. And the nanny tells me that he had a paper towel tube that he wanted Maggie to look through at him and she wouldn’t. He was using his words and saying “please, Please, PLEASE, Maggie??” And she still wouldn’t. So he said “I’m very angry!” but didn’t take any action. (This was in between the biting incident and the baseball bat incident.)

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to when he does or doesn’t take action (sometimes he’s tired, sometimes he’s not. Sometimes he’s had too much sugar, other times he hasn’t). All of these situations have produced varying results.

I try to let him know that the anger he is feeling is absolutely okay, but that the action he is taking is not.

Any ideas out there?

Thursday Theater: Reading

The other day, Burke told me he wanted to read his Three Little Pig story. I said, “Okay…be right there.” He grabbed the book and when I got into the room, this is what I saw. (With Maggie tap-dancing in the background…)

Brotherly Love

This morning, at 6:45, I heard Logan wake up through the monitor. (He’s not so quiet when he wakes up.) My policy is that I don’t go in to get any of the kids until the clock reads at least 7:00.

As I was pondering whether to go in and try to calm him down or just ignore him for 15 minutes, I heard the Twins’ door open. My immediate thought was, “Oh man. Logan woke Burke up…Burke’s going to come jump into bed with us now.” And waited to hear the door open.

Well…I DID hear a door open, but it wasn’t our’s… it was Logan’s door. And then I heard the following conversation:

Burke: Do you want the light on?
Logan: Nooooo!
Burke: Do you want a blanket?
Logan: Nooooo!
Burke: Do you want another paci?
Logan: Paci!!

And Burke kept talking with him for 10 – 15 minutes. Go Burke 🙂

Thursday Theater: At the Aquarium

This is from our day at the Aquarium. Again, it’s from my cell phone, so the quality isn’t great. (That and I haven’t figured out how to upload my video from my phone to YouTube and not have  it stretch out…)

Shake Dance

We were in the back yard yesterday when Burke spritzed Logan with the hose. (Still not sure if it was an accident or not…) The rule is if you spray anyone who doesn’t want to be sprayed, the water is turned off. Obviously, this didn’t sit well with Burke and he did his usual “run away crying” thing followed by some screeching.

When I finally caught up to him I asked, “Why are you screeching, Burke?”

His response? “Shake Dance.”

He was screeching because he knew that the last few times he got frustrated and screeched, we broke into the Shake Off The Frustration Dance – and he really liked it. NOW all we have to do is teach him that asking for the dance rather than screeching is the way to go.

How’d we get him to do the Dance, you ask? Simple, really. Fishful Thinking helped!

Have you been following along with Fishful Thinking? Has it been helpful to you?

We went to the town Memorial Day Parade on Monday and I happened to catch Burke on video enjoying it a bit. (It’s from my phone, sorry about the quality!)

Thursday Theater – 30 Second Rule

Goddess hosts Thursday Theater. Wanna join in? Go add your name to the list!

This week’s challenge is to tell your video story within 30 seconds. Oh, and apparently you’re a cheater if you don’t edit the video and just take one that’s under 30 😉

So…apparently, OneTrueMedia puts watermarks all around your video if you don’t want to pay…I swear, the video itself is only 30 seconds…the crap around it added about 15 more though!
