If you're gonna shop anyway, I'd really appreciate it if you'd click through my links to help support the growing needs of ballet slippers, art supplies, and soccer shorts. :)
I got a laugh out of these while driving into work and then sitting here at my desk, so I figured I’d share with you all my, uhm, diverse taste in music. 🙂
The last 15 songs heard on my iPod:
The Entertainer – Billy Joel
Behind These Hazel Eyes – Kelly Clarkson
Head Strong – Trapt
Mari Mac (live) – Great Big Sea
Forever in Blue Jeans – Neil Diamond
Where You Are – Jessica Simpson
Highlander Theme – Queen
Don’t Know Why – Norah Jones
Lullaby (acoustic) – Jack Johnson
Peter Gun Theme – the Blues Brothers version, of course.
Breathe Me – Sia (played twice, actually – LOVE that song. I have a kick-butt after-market system in my car that includes a remote attached to the steering wheel.)
Mommas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys – Willie Nelson & Waylon Jennings
In a Gadda Da Vida – Iron Butterfly
Ladybug Picnic – vintage Sesame Street
The Phantom of The Opera – Andrew Lloyd Webber
(Obviously, I have my 2700 or so songs set to “random” and “shuffle” 😉 )
Lately I’ve been on a Cream Cheese and Raspberry Jelly sandwich kick. Mostly because I made one for Logan while the twins were having PB&J (which Logan can’t have yet), and he turned his nose up at it. (The first time anyway. The second time I made one for him – hoping I’d be able to snarf that one too – he gobbled the whole thing.)
Growing up we had a lot of PB&J … but the “J” was grape, not raspberry…I can’t eat grape jelly anymore and I think it’s because of overload when I was little. Wonder if the kids will do the same with raspberry jelly now. Hmm. Something to think about. Probably not since this isn’t something that will be in their lunch at school as it was for me (no peanut butter allowed at school now.)
We also ate a lot of PB&F – fluff. YUM! At least, my taste buds remember yum. I’m not sure I’d be able to eat that anymore though – holy sweet. I think I’ll let my taste buds have their memory. I could never spread the fluff without ripping the bread – my Grandma had that covered though.
A few in my family liked PB&B – banana. I don’t remember ever eating one of those, and it sounds more appealing now than it did back then. Perhaps I’ll give that a try at some point.
However, as I’m not a huge fan of peanut butter, I’d rather have a roast beef and bacon sub.
What are your favorite sandwiches? Any strange combinations?
Please tell me what makes you so important. Seriously. I’ve been sitting in this *long* line waiting to get on/off some major highway, and you come zipping in from the next lane over and expect me to let you in. Are you kidding me?
Merging. Do you all know the meaning of this word? I can tell you that it is NOT riding the bumper of the car in front of you so that the merge lane cannot get in. C’mon – everyone’s line would go faster if you did what you should have learned in Kindergarten: TAKE TURNS.
If you cut me off so that I have slam on my brakes, at least use the decency to then step on your gas pedal. Seems you were in a huge hurry to get in front of me, but as soon as you got there – that fire under your butt went out.
And what’s with all of you going along side-by-side at the same speed so no one can get around you? For real. I’m actually wondering this. Is there some guide book that I didn’t read that mandates everyone in all lanes go the same speed?
On that same topic, stop riding my butt if I’m in the left lane and have nowhere to go. I cannot go any faster than the car in front of me. And there’s obviously a car right next to me. Where do you expect me to go to get out of your way? And for that matter – what makes you so important that I SHOULD get out of your way?
Oh, and I’ll let you in on a little secret. You know when you’re sitting there on that side road and I’m coming toward you? If there seems to be a lull in the traffic, more often than not – I’ll give you the space to let you in. Unless you try to take it from me.
Last night, Mike and I watched the Red Sox beat the Indians to clinch a spot in the post season at Fenway.
Why is this a great anniversary date? Well – a whole bunch of reasons!! I am a Red Sox fan. Mike is an Indians fan. Have I mentioned that the Sox and Indians played on our wedding day? And that the Indians KILLED the Sox that day? (Which meant that I had to wear a home-made t-shirt the next day to our BBQ…something about the Indians rocking or something…)
Anyway…we try to get Sox/Indians tickets every year. This year, we just happened to pick a KICK BUTT game! 🙂
Tickets
On my way out the door, I told the kids I was going to a baseball game and Burke started to sing “Everybody clap your hands!” CLAP, clap, clap, clap, CLAP, clap, clap, clap, CLAP, clap clap, clap, CLAP. (his favorite part about going to the Lowell Spinners game.) You know the song…it was a super funny McD’s commercial for a while. I can’t not embed it now… 😉
(1 minutelong)
I drove to the subway station, met Mike on the platform out by his place of employment, and then we rode in together. When we got there it was, as usual, a mob scene. Go to find our section to sit down, do the typical enter the right section, turn around and look at the rows thing…but can’t see our row. I must have looked a bit confused because one of the attendents came over to help out and said, “Oh – your seats are right here.” She then turned us around and lead us to our seats *5* rows from the field … and wiped the seats down for us. Holy froofie! But OMG! We were 5 rows from the field!! We could See Jacoby Elsbury’s face! Of course, all I brought was my camera phone (duh, Nancy)…so the pictures don’t really do it justice.
Jacoby Elsbury
And we were this close the the bullpens. Unfortunately, we could only see into the Indian’s ‘pen, but we could HEAR the Sox ‘pen. They all do this crazy drum beat thing. And they’re GOOD. It actually sounded like they had a snare drum in there…but they use water bottles and things and just bang on the metal of the bullpen. Not sure who started that, but my guess would be Timlin.
The Bullpens
As with most seats at Fenway, these were on the “special” side. If we sat back a faced forward, this was our view:
View From Our Seats
Ya. My neck still has a crick in it from looking left the whole time. heh
The Indian’s pitcher (Lee) has this incredible record coming into the game (22 – 2), and is pretty much a shoe-in for the Cy Young award. Meaning, he’s a tough guy to win against.
Mike was good enough to smile – even if his team wasn’t winning.
Mike
There was the requisite singing of Sweet Caroline. I have video, but YouTube isn’t cooperating right now, so perhaps I’ll add it later. I also have video of the bullpen cadence and of the final out…again – perhaps later.
And then the celebration!! I can’t believe we were AT this game 🙂 If you look REALLY close, you can see the gathering on the pitching mound.
Celebration on the Mound
And since I’m such a people watcher, I had to take a picture of this Henry Fonda look-a-like (in his On Golden Pond days) who was sitting right behind us.
Henry Fonda?
Mike and I couldn’t resist purchasing a little something on our way out of the park.
Baseball Hats!
(Although, Mike did state that he’d be requesting Indian’s hats for Christmas…)
It’s no secret that Mike snores. The man can snore while sleeping on his stomach. And I’m not even kidding. Burke does this hilarious imitation of him that’s a cross between totally obnoxious and right on (grinning the whole time, of course).
Before Mike and I got together, I was one of these people who took like, 30 minutes to fall to sleep at night. Wind down from the day, review stuff that happened, think about what’s suppose to go on the next day, etc… I’m also one of those people who sleeps with a fan on every night so that I don’t have to hear outside noises – Light sleeper and all that. Mike is one of those people who falls to sleep the second his head hits the pillow (sometimes before), and is snoring 2 seconds after that. And I’m not even kidding. Let me tell you, this makes for incompatible sleeping!
When we first got together, we tried everything…SnoreStop, those little breathe easy/nose strip thingies, aromatherapy. Ya – Mike’s immune. I even had him try to get into one of those sleep study things…but you have to have a doctor’s referral for that, and there’s no real evidence of sleep apnea, so they won’t let him in.
Luckily (?) since we’ve had the kids, I fall dead asleep the moment my head hits the pillow now as well – so most nights are all good. If I’m asleep before he starts snoring, it usually doesn’t wake me up. It’s the nights when one of the kids wakes up for a second or two – which means that I’m awake enough to be bothered by Mike’s snoring – that KILL me. (Like last night…) I poke him to turn on his side. Like that’s going to help. I poke him again after a few minutes to turn on his stomach. Like that’s going to help. I wage this inner war, “Do I poke him again? Do I go sleep on the couch? Do I just lie here and TRY to fall to sleep? Do I ask HIM to go sleep on the couch?” *sigh* None of the options seem very fair. Last night I opted for the just lie here and try to fall to sleep. About an hour and a half later I finally managed to…until Logan woke up an hour after that.
…it’s 10:30 and I’m on my 3rd cup of coffee. My normal intake is 2 cups – tops. Should be an interesting day 😉
I got my act together and posted the Wedding Story over there on the right-hand side. See it? It’s just under “The Story of Us – Meeting” 🙂
Kind of a Blah Day: Gio – I wasn’t around a Starbucks, but I did hit a Dunkin’ Donuts. 🙂 Thanks for the suggestion! ♦ Marie – I hadn’t realized you were a single mom. I bow to you; I can only imagine how hard that can be at times. ♦ Amy – With *two* sets of twins, I imagine that you have MANY days when things just pile up on you. I bow to you too 🙂 ♦ What a Card – As usual, you have a perfect solution for me. I will be helping out at the sale on Friday night (and shopping then too!!) Thank you, thank you, thank you. ♦ Jon – I’m so sorry to hear about Max, please keep me updated!!
Brightens MY Day: Cheryl – that huge grin at the top left is Burke’s (way back when). And yes, it makes me smile every time I see it 🙂 He’s such a ham!
Fx4: Thank you to everyone…way to make me blush (but like, in that good way). And yup…I caught a keeper! *grin* ♦ GrannyFrani – Nope, Aunt Cathy isn’t coming today. She IS coming over on Tuesday so that Mike and I can go to a Red Sox/Indians Game (for those of you who don’t know…Red Sox = Nancy’s team. Indians = Mike’s team…and they even played on our Wedding day! Just for us *grin* Indians won that day…*sigh*)
Dirty Laundry: GrannyFrani – I’d take paper over laundry ANY day 😉 ♦ Jon – Yup, that’s Tiger…and ah, ya…he’s always trying to help me with the laundry (if you count pouncing “help”)
Okay. So, it’s actually clean…but these are the piles I (still) need to put away. And dang it, the kids’ drawers are FULL of summer clothes, so I need to clean ’em out first.
Yes. That would be *8* bags/hampers of clean clothes…which means probably about 10 loads. *sigh*
Why am I posting this? I’m joining in on Heather’sKeeping it Real Blog Carnival. Are you brave enough to post unstaged pictures of what your house REALLY looks like at any given moment? Then head on over and link up!
Wish I could pin-point why…but it’s typically due a million little things. Let’s see if I can get it sorted out.
I’m at work and I don’t feel like working (not completely out of the norm)
My boss’ boss wants me to head to the opposite coast for a week next month (Are you KIDDING me??)
Lack of sleep (also not out of the norm)
Need to get more clothes for the twins – who just won’t stop growing. Perhaps I should hit the twin club sale next weekend, but I *HATE* that kind of manic, crowded shopping. Plus, Mike works on the weekends and I’m sooooo not bringing the kids with me
Feeling pretty poor at the moment
Think the twins might be back-sliding in the potty training department. We’ve been sending them to school in pull-ups and I think they’re getting lazy
ALL of my clothes are feeling tight and I just can’t blame the dryer any more – but I don’t have the energy/will-power/motivation to do anything about it
Behind in getting all of the twin membership renewals into the database – and those really need to be there for the twin sale!!
The house looks like a tornado went through
Logan stopped nursing, and I’m trying to figure out if I miss it (mostly no!)
More loads of laundry to put away than I can count (and more to do)
Haven’t done anything in a while for one of my side jobs, and I feel like I’m letting them down
Looks like the trend is to list what your DVR will be recording for the up-coming season…I’m all over that. We are now mixing two of my favorite veg things: Blogs and TV. LOL
I’ll just get it over and done with…Wonder Pets is taping, uh, whenever – for the kids. Cute crazy critter show. (Thanks, What a Card, for pointing us in that direction, the twins LOVE this show!)
Okay, now for the grown-up stuff. This is what I know so far. I’m sure there will be adjustments as the season progresses. I’m also going to have to check out which ones make it onto On Demand so that I may be able to better “tune” my DVR to those I can’t get at later…
America’s Got Talent is one we record, but that is like every freakin’ night, and should be ending soon, so I didn’t put it below.

When does Scrubs start again? Different network, right? What happened to Rules of Engagement? Anyone know if that one is coming back? And I have both Fringe and The Mentalist set to record, but I obviously haven’t seen either of those yet (Missed the first Fringe … oops!), so I don’t know if they’ll stay on the list.
