Silent No More

When I picked Maggie up from school yesterday, Mrs. Teacher made a point of letting me know that Maggie chatted the whole day!! Go Maggie ๐Ÿ™‚ Who knew that all I’d have to do is blog about it, and the silence would end ๐Ÿ˜‰

Random Logan Updates

  • His thumb looks just fine
  • As I was walking out the door to take the twins to preschool yesterday, he cranked his head around his high chair, waved his fingers and said, very clearly, “Byeeeeeeee!” (I almost didn’t leave ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
  • Brenda says that he’s now taking more than just a few steps. Except that every time he sees me, he BOOKS it toward me cuz he can’t get to me fast enough – which means that he crawls – so I don’t get to see it! Soon…he’ll not want to crawl at all anymore, so I know I’ll see it soon ๐Ÿ™‚

Mom of the Year Award

Ya. Sign me up.

Last night I wasn’t feeling well and had decided to not go to my moms of twins meeting – so I figured I’d get some dinner going. Logan was whining, so I decided to let him come into the kitchen with me. The twins were watching a movie.

Every time I glanced over at what Logan was doing, he seemed to be fine. Mostly just playing with the empty water bottles in the recycle bin. At one point I glanced up and noticed a mess on the floor. I figured he spilled something that was left over in one of the cans in the recycle bin. Ya. No. He was sitting there playing quietly while his blood was dripping from somewhere – all over everything.

Heart in throat, I started to check him over. Both hands were covered, his mouth was covered, his clothes, the floor, the cans he was playing with. He cut his left thumb on a can that had the tab popped off. It was pretty deep and I couldn’t get it to stop bleeding for a while. But the little guy didn’t even really notice! I had him sitting on the sink splashing in the water while I was trying to apply pressure on his thumb.

Poor Mike. I texted him that Logan had cut his thumb and he needed to call me (I had tried to call twice, but he hadn’t answered.) He ran the whole way home from the train station. And of course, by that time Logan’s thumb was only slightly dribbling by this point.

Needless to say, the recycle bin will be moving out of the kitchen.

Like Father…

…I’m sitting here listing to Logan SNORE through the monitor. *sigh*

“Ta Da!”

Last night I was holding Logan while looking for some PJs for him. I was just kind of chatting with him like always, “Okay…we need to find your PJs….wonder where they are…oh – there they are!” And pulled them out saying, “Ta da!”

Next thing I know, he’s smiling and said “Ta da!” right back. It was super cute.

We, of course, ran downstairs to demonstrate to Daddy.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

I just got a text from Mike:

Logan stood by himself and took a step toward me!:)

How cool is that?! And how neat for Mike that he was there for this first. ๐Ÿ™‚

Which brings up the typical question that people ask me: does it bother me that I miss a lot of “firsts” because I work full-time.

Honestly? Not really. I mean, there’s a little pang of “dang – I wish it happened when I was there!” …but my feeling is that he’ll do it again around me and it will still be MY first. And I’m still super excited that it happened at all!

I’m actually surprised at how many firsts I HAVE seen (of all 3 kids). Of course, they may have still been just my firsts with them if the nanny or whoever else neglected to let me know that they’d done whatever it was before…but like I said – it’s exciting when you see it for the first time no matter if it’s the kid’s first time or not ๐Ÿ™‚

I can’t wait to get home to “try him out” LOL

Still Backwards

Logan had his 14 month appointment today. He’s average height and average head circumference, but WAY below what his weight should be. He’s 19 pounds – which means he’s in the 3rd percentile.

This also means that he has to stay facing backwards in his car seat for a little while longer. It’s actually not such a big deal because that means he can still see Burke and Maggie – who sometimes entertain him while we’re all in the car. (Burke likes to make Logan giggle – it’s pretty cute.)

So…here’s the thing. Logan eats about what the twins eat – put together. So I really don’t get why he’s so little. The other thing is, he doesn’t really LOOK little. Sure – he’s no linebacker, but he’s not all skin and bones either. And he’s pretty solid. He’s not walking yet – but I’m fairly certain that’s due to lack of confidence rather than anything physical. He’s never crawled “right” (he lifts his right leg up to “stand” on it and then drags his left leg/knee along) – but he’s super fast with his own method, and the doctor isn’t worried about that at all. He cruises around furniture and climbs up the stairs…and has started to climb onto the kiddie chairs that Burke and Maggie have with their kiddie table. He’s babbling, but not really talking. (He does say “more” when he wants food though.)

The doctor isn’t worried about anything, so I’m just going to assume that he’s a little kid…just like his siblings ๐Ÿ™‚

Last week, I went for a walk with the kids. We rounded a corner that I hadn’t gone by before and went down a new-to-us street. As we were walking by a house, a woman was unloading her groceries from her car. Apparently, a stroller being pushed by two kids who are the same height is quite the site because she dropped what she was doing to come see everyone. The usual twin questions and all that.

While we were standing there talking with her, a double stroller comes up. Another set of twins! I’d never met this woman before, but she lives one street over. Her kids are just about a year younger than Burke and Maggie.

The grocery woman was in heaven. LOL She brought flowers to all 5 kids.

They were all excited to have the flowers.

The theme is babies with pumpkins…but I decided to post a picture of my baby as a pumpkin.
