It Was Horrible

…because it was supposed to be! ๐Ÿ™‚

Our town had its annual Horribles Parade yesterday. Apparently, they’ve had over 40 of them…I find that pretty cool, and it makes me love our new town that much more.

Anyway…we all lined up behind the fire truck. And when I say “we all” I mean, pretty much all of the kids and their parents in the town!! Or at least, it seemed like it.

All of the kids (and some adults) dressed up to march from the fire house to the high school (about 1/2 mile maybe?). There were a *lot* of really cool costumes.

As you can see, since pretty much everyone was in the parade, there were not a lot of spectators. I think I saw a total of 10 people watching…

Maggie insisted on walking down the yellow line. And she walked with her skirt in her hand – very princess-like.

Logan didn’t have a nap at all yesterday, but was – again – a very good little guy. He was just taking in the sights along the way.

When we reached the high school, we asked the fire men if it would be okay to take a picture of Burke in front of the fire truck.

Oh, and before we left for the parade, I just couldn’t resist this shot…

Twins, Twins, Everywhere

My mention of the twin mommy one street over got a few “wow” comments – I’m guessing from non-Massachusetts people. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I’ve gotten over the “wow” factor for a few reasons…before I moved to my current town, I lived on a street where there was another twin mommy two doors down. She’s the one who actually introduced me to the twin club I’m in now. (THANK YOU JOHANNA!!) Her boy/girl twins are about a year older than mine, and we had a good time being down the street. Sad to say that we BOTH moved away from there right around the time play dates would have been really fun for us all. Ah well.

In my new town, we see double strollers all the time. I run into other twin mommies (some I know, some I just stalk) at the grocery store, at school, at Burke’s speech class, walking down the street. In my club, there are 3 twin moms who live within 3 blocks of me – and that doesn’t include the one we saw walking the other day!

The other reason is – and I know I’ve mentioned this before – I’m the Membership Chair for my twin club. Our club services the Greater Boston area and has more than 250 members. Yes: *250* members. The wow factor for me is that our club is not the only one in the area, and I’m pretty sure it’s not the largest!

Now – don’t get me wrong…just because the “wow” factor isn’t as it was for me, does not mean that I’m not super excited to stalk meet new twin moms and know that they live just around the corner. I love knowing that there are so many out there who just “get it” – I’m a firm believer that you can always learn something new from anyone and everyone. I’m also a firm believer in passing along information that may have helped me when I went through the same thing – usually only when I’m asked though ๐Ÿ˜‰

The thing that DOES wow me? 50 sets of twins in one place. Yup: *50!* My twins club had a Halloween party yesterday and the kids had a lot of fun. I got some “crowd shots” – but they totally don’t do justice to the situation, so I’m not even going to bother posting them. My kids were *ahem* angels, of course.

Maggie wouldn’t get out of the bouncy house.

Burke fell in love with the police car Cozy Coup (even though we have a red one at home).

And he wouldn’t let anyone else use it. Well…he got really upset when we, ah, requested that he let someone else. (It did kind of match his outfit…)

We were able to distract him with the Bouncy House though.

Logan was his typical self…even though it was his nap time.

There was a parade at the very end, but our kids created their own when we first got there.

There was a kids’ music band that played for the second half of the party. Logan seemed to enjoy it. Or at least, he enjoyed his juice while watching…

Baby Picture Sundays – Pumpkins!

Debi is doing her Baby Picture Sundays. I’ve missed the last few, but here I am again!

The theme is babies with pumpkins…but I decided to post a picture of my baby as a pumpkin.

Way Back When-esday

Cheryl over at Twinfatuation hosts this one. Go on over to see who else is playing – and join in too!

This is another one from just before the twins turned 2. They received a play kitchen for Christmas (actually, they received two – and love them both – still!). Burke was playing with it and happened to pull it away from the wall…so Maggie decided to peek around.

And, like last time, I have the accompanying video. I think Burke is “playing” the doors along to some music we have playing in the background.

Logan had a good time trying to use the spoon and fork for the first time yesterday.

My mom is coming to visit for the weekend, so in honor of that, here are some pictures from 2007. She was letting Burke and Maggie help with the finishing touches on Logan’s new afghan (that’s “blanket” for all you non-crafty people ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

I’m actually not entirely sure when these were taken…probably a year and a half ago or so based on their surroundings. (Bad mommy.)

This one’s dedicated to the various ways in which Maggie used to fall to sleep. She still starts out on the floor (or wherever), but has started to tuck herself in to her own bed after about 1/2 hour goes by.
