Highlights of a Wonderful Visit

If you read my blog semi-regularly, you know that my in-laws were here for the weekend. We had such a lovely time! Here are a few highlights:

  • A late plane! We brought the entire family to the airport to see Pop Pop and Mop Mop (as the kids call them)…waaaaaay past all of their bed times! The plane was about 3 hours late. Luckily, we don’t live that far from the airport and we knew it was late, so we waited at home – not at the airport.
  • A swing set put together! Pop Pop and Mike spent about a day (2 half days – they got rained out the first day) putting the swing together. The kids *LOVE* it. Today all three were sliding down the slide. Yep – all three. Maggie would slide down and wait at the bottom. Then Burke would come down and “kick” her (not hard) and they’d both wait at the bottom. I’d put Logan up at the top, hold his hands, and he’d scoot his little butt down to the edge and slide down into the other two “kicking” them. Lots of giggles, and LOTS of times running around to do it again.
  • YUMMY grilling from Mike…even though it poured half way through (and I mean poured – sheets coming down) complete with thunder and very close lighting. We had “Pig wrapped in Pig” (bacon wrapped pork chops), kielbasa, chicken, potatoes, and green beans. Have I said YUUUUMMMM yet?
  • YUMMY restaurant food. We hit the Summer Shack. That Jasper White knows what he’s doing. 🙂
  • Lots of great conversation.
  • Lots of hanging out in the back yard playing.

Thank You!

Thank you to those who commented on Crooked Teeth and getting Logan fatter. We had Oatmeal and smooshed bananas for breakfast yesterday (he loved it!), and then some avocado for lunch. Wow – was THAT a success. I should have taken a picture though…he looked like a happy little baby Hulk LOL! There was green everywhere 🙂

Crooked Teeth

Logan now has two (very crooked) teeth. They’re kind of in the shape of an up-side-down V. If you look closely, you can see:

I’ve talked with the dentist who says not to worry until more teeth come in…but geeez, how can you not? I guess there could be worse things, and they ARE kind of cute…but can you say CHA CHING when the braces are needed 😉

On a related but not totally related note, Logan had his 10 month appointment today. He’s average in head circumference and height, but only in the 5th percentile for weight (only gained 2 pounds in 4 months). And here we thought that he was getting huge 😛 Time to pack on the pounds kiddo.  Anyone have any pound-packing, baby-friendly food ideas?

Yard With a View

Front Yard

The festivities in town are less than two miles away at the local high school. Therefore, Mike and I put the kids to bed, had some dinner and then stepped out onto our front steps to watch the fireworks. My (cool) camera has a “Fireworks” setting! This is the first time I’ve used it…not *the* best pictures, but the following were taken from our steps last night.

Back Yard

Mike took today off from work (WOO HOO!) and we played in the back yard pretty much all day with the kids. We hit church this morning (it’s just not the same with no one working in the nursery!!) and then came home to the pool and fun in the sun. A good day was had by all *grin*

Fun Food on the 4th

Mike Grilled up some *really* tasty stuff: Steak, ribs, hotdogs, kielbasa, potatoes, peppers, onions, and zucchini. And we made some corn as well. The pan fried version of it all was darn good last night too. On the 4th, we also had watermelon…Burke’s 1st piece was almost as big as him! 🙂 (yes, he had more than one…and then more for breakfast yesterday!!)

Maggie enjoyed it too.

One last picture…Logan is playing with the BoredBoard Mike made for the twins a few years ago.

Steak with a Side of Hotdogs

Add some ribs and asparagus and you’ve got our dinner tonight. Yep. For real. Ask my family and they’ll know: Mike’s been grilling again! 🙂 The only thing missing in tonight’s fair was some sort of potato…and that’s just cuz we forgot LOL

Just had to brag, cuz it was GOO-OOD.
