It’s no secret that I’m, ah, a bit bigger now after having 3 kids. Needless to say, I now need to shop from the larger size racks at departments stores. Not really a big deal…but has anyone else noticed that the larger the shirt size is, the more garish the material?? Ya. Cuz I want to ADVERTISE that I’m bigger now. In big, bold (usually ugly) patterns. Thanks.
The only other option on the racks? White. Are you kidding me? Did you not read my How To Wear White memo..? Ya. Thanks again.

Wait, you buy new clothes? I just wear my now-too-tight clothes, because that’s always a good look!
One of Mommy, Esq’s sisters here. I totally hear you. I just finally got back into regular clothes from my first pregnancy (yay for cute clothes!), and now that I’m knocked up again, I know I’ll be facing the same situation about 9 months from now when I go back to work. What is it about the heineous nature of larger-sized clothing??
As much as I hate to shop there (I did so when I was a teen, then got a bit thinner, and am now reluctant to go back…), Lane Bryant does have some hipper clothes. Old Navy has good stuff, too. The rest all bite. Blech.
Yeah, I feel if I say anything…..I will be able to hear the rolls of the eyes and “whatever miss size 0” ….though I do swear…..I have size 2’s too!
But don’t feel completely annoyed w/me. Most stuff is too big in regular womens that I’m forced to go to juniors! Yep, I really don’t want to bear my belly or wear sparkles on my but saying “JUICY”….or “BOOTILICIOUS”. That’s a bit inapproriate for a MOT. Don’t ya think?
I was just excited to put back on Size 14 pants – that means I can ALMOST shop in Ann Taylor. Of course once I quit breastfeeding I’ll have to actually watch what I eat and exercise to make up for the calories that flow out of me right now. Which is sure to go by the wayside when I go back to work in March. Sigh.
At Wrentham Outlets Ann Taylor has size 16 clothes – very nice pants, suits and reasonably priced. As Allie says Lane Bryant has some stuff but if you want to go get fitted for a really nice bra I’ll go with you to Newbury Street. I’ve been dying to go to get the “girls” fitted. I hear it makes all the difference (as confirmed by “What Not to Wear”).
For me, it’s not so much the size, but the distribution and flaccidity. Nothing like flash the consistency of a sack of wet kittens under a loudly printed top or pants. Delish.
Finally did the reading meme….thanks for the tag!
Or “flesh”….”flash” would be grosser still…
You know, I don’t think it is you or your size. Seriously, they just make all the good clothes for “average” sized women and there aren’t really any “average” women out there. We’ve all got our issues (too short, too tall, too skinny, to heavy, “problem” areas). I can’t find any clothes that actually fit me that I also willing to wear. Sigh! Sorry, I didn’t mean to steal your thunder.
