Secret Blog?

A little while ago, one of the bloggers I read revealed that their significant other didn’t know about their blog. This made me pause a little since I know that Mike reads mine (almost) faithfully…and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I have to admit that I am sometimes a little careful about what I write because I know some of my audience (like, I try to not write about work AT ALL…), but for the most part – my blog is true to who I am. Do I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a super secret, no-one-in-real-life-knows-me blog? Sure … but what the heck would I write in it? LOL

And I have to admit … when my “worlds” (blog vs. high school friends) collided, my brain definitely skidded. It’s really strange to have an actual voice that you’ve known for years and years that goes along with a blog.

But what I’m wondering is…is this common? Do many of you have secret blogs? Does your significant other know about your blog? Hmm…I suppose if you have a secret blog you could comment anonymously *grin*

(Do you now have Secret Agent Man running through your head, as I do?)

  1. Russ knows about all of mine but he doesn’t read it every day. I think he figures he lives it. LOL

  2. Husband reads my blogs – mainly because he loves everyone’s comments. I will say that upon occassion it has led me to “hold back” about complaining about marital strife because I don’t want to upset him.

Most fun is meeting your “blog friends” in person – like you and Goddess!

  3. This hits home for me because word started to spread about my blog at work so I had to seriously edit my words- couldn’t talk about too much or someone would see.
Then I WANTED to have an anonymous blog so that I could be absolutely truthful about things that go on. But I am so glad I didn’t. I want to be authentic, and I want to HAVE to watch what I say and think about who I could be hurting if I say the wrong thing.
Though now and then I wish I could tell my readers something crazy that happened at work, it is better for me to learn how to keep things private.

    Good topic.

  4. M knows about my blog, but doesn’t really read it. Most of the rest of my family doesn’t know about it. I started it mostly anonymously when I first got pregnant. I do try to be careful what I say, to some extent, because you just never know.

  5. I admit, mine is secret – hubby or any one else IRL knows nothing about it – I have a seperate one that we do together.I have an inkling that a friend is onto it – have not idea how.

  6. No super-secret blog here, although mine hasn’t been “discovered” yet by my inlaws. They know I blog for a vegetarian site, but didn’t express any interest in reading it, which is fine with me, since it’d be pretty easy to get from the veggie blog to my personal blog! But just to be safe, I don’t vent about them. If I was going to create a super-secret blog, though, they’d be the reason 🙂

My husband does read my blog, but only about every other week or so.

  7. I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you 🙂

  8. Came across this randomly.

Mine is secret…and I’ve ended up moving my blog several times, because I accidently let it slip.

It gives me an outlet. A lot like a diary…except…more secretive.

Having a secret blog lets me vent my frustrations without hurting anyones feelings.
