This is Part 2. Here’s Part 1 (Meeting) if you’re interested.
Since we had 15 months to plan the wedding, I wanted everything just perfect. (Of course!) I even created a database of who we’d invited to what, who was coming to what, what gift we’d need to send a thank you for…etc. It was pretty anal, but it helped keep me sane. (or at least, mostly sane…) I also had a binder full of ideas and things.
We knew we were going to be married in my home-town church in Vermont by the minister who just happens to be my best friend’s dad (and my Dad’s best friend). We had to go through some “counseling” with him – he does this with all of the couples he’s going to marry – which included a compatibility test among other things, and he determined that we should already be married. LOL
As with everything, planning with Mike is a breeze. We seem to be on the same page on most everything – and when we aren’t, we are grown-up enough to compromise so that we both like what we end up with, and it was usually better than what we had originally thought of separately. (Okay, not ALWAYS, but usually.)
What we ended up with was a perfectly beautiful day. Oh sure, there were panic moments (the flower lady was no where to be found for a few hours – we weren’t sure if we’d have flowers), and Mike was pretty sick (he was downing tea with honey just so he could speak). But what a great, great day.
Warning! This is going to get picture-heavy, and quite long.
Yep. I did my own makeup. No reason to not look like ME on the day I’d have more pictures taken of me than any other in my life. (I didn’t do my own hair though…I can’t do that on a NORMAL day.)
The following are a few pictures taken before the wedding at my Dad’s house.
The following pictures were taken at the church before the wedding.
(Not sure why there’s a wife in the pic… heh)
The following pics were taken during the wedding.
These two were taken at the church directly after the ceremony.
(It’s a little fuzzy, but too awesome to not include)
We then headed back to my Dad’s house to get pictures of the entire wedding party. There were formal ones taken at the church too, but I won’t bore you with those 😉
Then we hopped into the Limo and headed to the reception.
Instead of that awful clinking of the glass when the guests want you to kiss, we made the tables sing … a song with the word “Love” in it *grin*. You can see one of those pictures from a previous post.
Since we had so many people come in from out of town, we had a huge BBQ in my Dad’s back yard the next day. What a blast that was. Not nearly as fun as the wedding day, but it was good fun too.
Two days later, we headed off to our honeymoon. Stay tuned for that post!
Ah memories, glad I was there to help you share your special day and glad we’ve kept in touch. I’m not sure how, but I almost forgot about the huge day-after BBQ.
(And yay! I actually did make it in one of the pictures!) 🙂
Lovely photos! Thanks for sharing your story!
You guys are so cute! Also, I really love your colors. Gorgeous! But of course, you know that I painted the wall behind my bed deep purple, so naturally I would approve!
You were a beautiful bride and such a stunning couple. Congratulations on the anniversary.
You guys look awesome. Husband and I rang our church bell together which was cool. And we were married in the same church my parents and grandparents were married in.
Isn’t it a little sad that someday soon Maggie will be looking at your album and say (as I did for my mom) – Mom, you look so young and beautiful? Of course we still are – just not to them!!
Wow Nancy, your wedding was REALLY beautiful! You look great! This whole website thing is SUCH a cool idea!
Very cool idea to post these stories! I too met my hubby online. Fluke thing, wouldn’t change it for the world! Maybe one of these days I’ll post something like this – and link back for ya! 😉
Oh, you look so pretty and so happy! I love wedding pictures. And I want to jump inside the photo of your cake and steal it. It’s awesome!
