Oh, The Drama!

When I picked the kids up from preschool last Friday I asked the usual questions. Among them is: “Did you have fun today?” Burke was his usual ‘yippie! School Rocks!’ self, but Maggie was quiet and just shook her head.

I tried to figure out what went on and asked, “Did you get into trouble, Maggie?” A nod yes. Oookay. “What happened? Did the teacher get upset with you?” She wouldn’t answer anything, but just looked at me – a very unhappy kid. I asked if she hurt someone. I got a nod at that. Oookay…”Did you hit someone?” nod. “Did you kick someone?” nod. “Did you bite someone?” nod. Clearly – she hadn’t really hurt anyone; and at around the second ‘did you’ I realized if she HAD hurt someone, the teacher would have mentioned something.

When I dropped the kids off at school today (Monday was a holiday), I asked, “Did Maggie get in trouble last week?” The teacher rolled her eyes and said “Well….” Apparently only 5 of the 15 kids helped pick up the toys on Friday … after having been asked 3 times and warned that they wouldn’t get a stamp on their hand if they didn’t help….and apparently 10 kids were *very* upset that they didn’t get that stamp. LOL If memory serves, Burke had a stamp on Friday! No wonder he is so protective of it – he won’t even let me hold that hand for fear of smudging it.

When I went to pick them up today, they’d all apparently done so well that they had a stamp on each hand AND a sticker! Nice. Go Mrs. Teacher! (As What a Card’s son calls her. heh)

My only complaint about those darn stamps is that now every stinkin’ sleeve (coats included) has BLUE smears on the cuff.
