Saturday Snapshot: More Soccer

Our town had a Kinder Soccer day today where all the Kindergartners get a taste of soccer (for free). Burke and Maggie were put on separate teams…and they both had a blast!

Soccer

Burke and Maggie had their first scrimmage yesterday… Pitted against each other 😉

The final score was tied at 1…Guess which two kids scored the goals? That’s right…Burke scored for his team and Maggie scored for hers!

Kinda Looks Like a Duck

I mentioned that Burke collided with another kid in yesterday’s post. The poor kid has a fat lip today. And it’s *really* dark under the top lip. The gums as well. He complained that his teeth hurt while eating dinner last night (noodles!) and when brushing his teeth, he made us promise to be gentle.

Luckily, this morning – while it LOOKS worse – he’s not complaining about it hurting. I’d take a picture, but that seems cruel … Since he kind of looks like a duck 🙂

Sleep All Day…

No WBW post today…I’ve pretty much been in bed all day. I got up to take Maggie to her dance class, and then again to let Nanny Jessica go home…but other than that, I’ve been trying to get rid of this nasty, nasty head cold. Sinus pressure galore. Lovely headache. Runny/stuffy nose (how is that even possible??). And raw throat.

All 3 kids have been hacking up a lung as well. If they’re feeling anything like I am, I’m surprised they’re not complaining more!

The nurse called from school today. I thought for sure she was sending Burke or Maggie home…but apparently Burke collided with another kid at recess (again). He’s fine, but the gums above his two front teeth look darker to me. Guess we’ll just have to keep an eye on it. The nurse also said that Maggie was sent to her that morning (for her lovely sounding cough), but that she’s fine and it’s just a cold. Good to know!

Dancin’ Fool

Maggie had a Girl Scout function today where the first hour they went through 4 different stations and then the second hour they just danced, danced, danced. Since her friend A was there as well, she had a BLAST!

Saturday Snapshot: Circus!

Waiting for the Ringling/Barnum & Bailey Circus to start!

Hangin’ With Uncle Jim

Uncle Jim is here for the day 🙂

Makes My Monday: Exploring

While at my Dad’s house, Maggie found one of my favorite spots to explore when I was younger.

Passing along exploration spots to my kids Makes My Monday.

Saturday Snapshot: Apple Picking

Apple picking (on my birthday!) with Grandpa and Nana.

Finished For Friday

I’ve been meaning to get in on the Finished for Friday stuff going on over at Lit and Laundry, but I just haven’t been able to get my act together to actually finish things 😉

And you’ve seen these modeled by my kids already, but they count!! I finished them!

I actually made Maggie’s a wee bit too short, but added a crochet boarder (which means it doesn’t roll now), but I think it makes it a little more girly anyway…

Knitted hats

Close-up

I found the roll-brim pattern online, but had to improvise just a little bit since it was for an adult (or larger child..?) Here’s my version:

Use circular needles

Cast on 75 and join (be sure not to twist the work!)
Add a stitch marker because you’ll be working in the round
knit in the round for about 6 inches (I think I knitted 45 rounds??)

Decrease as follows:
Round 1: *k13, k 2 together, rep from *
Round 2: k
Round 3: *k12 , k 2 together, rep from *
Round 4: k
Round 5: *k11, k 2 together, rep from *
Round 6: k
Round 7: *k10 , k 2 together, rep from *
Round 8: k
Round 9: *k9, k 2 together, rep from *
Round 10: k

Round 11 on: Decrease every round until 5 stitches remain.
Cut yarn and draw through last stitches….fasten off.
Weave all your cut ends into your hat.
