Highway Robbery

Is it just me, or is charging $18 for a 4X6 picture a bit … pricey? Seriously. We had over 200 photos taken of the extended family over the weekend…and now that the pictures are available, I’m SHOCKED to see what they are charging. Don’t get me wrong – they are great photos, and they were great with the kids…but WOW.

And of course, I’d love to have a copy of almost all of them…don’t think THAT will be happening. *grumble*

  1. Oh, that stinks! Why do they charge so much!?! I will never understand it, esp now that everything is digital. Grrrrrr

  2. I’ve been wanting “professional” pictures of the fam for a while, but I couldn’t believe the prices!!! Then, a High School friend I reconnected with (via FB) is starting a photography biz. He does mostly scenic and still lifes, but I asked if he photographs people. He sent me his prices…extrememly reasonable, and he uploads the best shots to Kodak, Shutterfly, whatever, and I ordered what I wanted in whatever size and paid very little. I rec’d my pix yesterday and they turned out awesome!

  3. I thought of something….while we were in England, the photography company the school used for school pictures gave us the option of purchasing the jpeg, and they put it on a disk and mailed it to us. I can’t remember if what I paid was per kid or per jpeg. But it worked out cheaper for me, because I didn’t have to pay their (extortion) prices per print and I could order what size/quantitiy I wanted. Could you check with your photographer to see if they offer somthing similar?

  4. I search for photographers these days that will sell you the images on CD – we were also caught like that a few years ago.
