I’ve been watching the kids and marveling at how ram-rod straight they sit. On the floor, in a chair, playing a game, eating…whatever. And I’m wondering when we “unlearn” this? I mean, we must have all started out like this, right? So – at what point is it that we start to slouch?
Is it when we figure out that we’re “supposed” to be self-conscious? Like…when your breasts come in before all of your friends…or if you think you’ve got a tummy?
Burke is a “leaner” – so I’m actually not sure if he’s a sloucher yet. Maggie is still pretty straight, unless she’s on the couch watching TV. Logan’s still little enough to not bend. 🙂

My poor Little man L is already a slaucher – due to his very low muscle tone.
I will tell you that if you always have very good posture, people mistake you for being uncomfortable in a situation. I think to a certain extent, a slouched posture gives off “comfortable” vibes.
I used to have ridiculously ramrod straight posture (I was “scared straight” by a doctor thanks to a medical condition that could have required a metal rod in my spine to correct). I’ve had to consciously relearn a less than perfect stance!
