5 Things Friday

5 Things you might or might not know about
Crafts I Miss:

(I say “Miss” because I haven’t been able to do any of them for quite some time.)

  1. Crocheting. I taught myself how to crochet in college after basic lessons from my mom when I was still in grade school. (She taught me how to do a granny square ๐Ÿ™‚ ) It’s one of my favorite crafts to do!
  2. Cross-Stitch. The counted kind. It’s probably a good thing I haven’t done this one in a while…it had started to hurt my wrists.
  3. Scrap booking. I believe that my scrap book is forever stuck half way through my honeymoon…
  4. Quilting. Okay, so I’ve really only done one quilt. And I haven’t even finished that one yet (*blush*) It was only started…oh, 6 years ago or so!
  5. Tatting. Okay, so I don’t actually know HOW to tat, but I had just started to teach myself how to do it after finding my Grandfather’s shuttle when life happened. (It’s HARD!!)

There’s talk of getting a Stitch ‘n B*tch “club” together at some point…I gotta get off my hiney and start that up! (I learned so much from the last one I belonged to – that’s where I started my quilt!)

  1. I’ve given up on scrapbooking. I tell myself that after the children grow up, I’ll have endless hours to work on scrapbooks, but by then I’ll have forgotten everything that happened, so what good will they be to me?

  2. Crafts…oh beloved aspect of my pre-mommy past…
    ๐Ÿ˜‰

Our local bookstore has a stitch and b*tch…but they REALLY b*tch from what I understand…I may be a bit too Pollyanna. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You’re not alone in missing the productivity in artistic areas! Hang in there!
    (You’re writing, that’s something!)

  3. Thanks for playing along! I also miss crafts, but I am more in the pottery and paint type than the needlework part. My mom does cross stitching though – did a lovely birth marker for the little Miss and busy with the one for The Boys.

  4. What is tatting….I’ve never heard of it before. I just passed along the fabric I had collected that I was going to sew into this…that…and the other thing….alas, it remainded a pile through 3 moves, so it was time to pass it along. I do scrapbook — I get together w/ladies and crop for a night or even a weekend now and again. We started a charity knitting/needlework group here at work — I am still working on my first thing, while other ladies have made enough hats for entire villages. ๐Ÿ™‚
