Happy Birthday Kiddos!
I cannot believe you two are 6. *six!* Where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday that you were testing the waters figuring out how to walk and other things like that. And now? You are both learning how to read and write! It’s amazing to watch you sound words out and figure out how to spell things. I’m loving the way your brains are working – both very different, but both working.
Burke, you’re turning into such a little gentleman. Just this week, you got off the bus after school and noticed that the van hatch was open…and grabbed *the rest* of my groceries to bring them inside for me! Without being asked!!
Maggie, you enjoy helping out as well and ask me what you can do all the time (usually when I’m in the kitchen). You’ve taken an interest in feeding Higgins, so that’s turned into your job (much to the dog’s delight!)
We had a wonderful day today…not even chaning out of our jammies. 🙂 Card games and puzzles, books and chemistry experiments, pizza and Looney Tunes (your current favorite thing to watch). A lovely, lazy day 🙂

Seems as though Maggie is next in line for Strep.
Luckily, they’ve already canceled school tomorrow because of the snow predictions, so the 24-hours-until-she’s-no-longer-contagious doesn’t mean she’ll be missing MORE school.

There are some changes going on in one aspect of my life right now (nothing to do with family or my job), and I’m not sure I like these changes. Why are some changes so hard to deal with? I mean – things change all the time and I feel like I usually roll with the punches, but with this thing…it feels different. The changes haven’t even really started to change, but I’m already not feeling as “special” … and perhaps that’s the crux of it. I don’t like not feeling special. Dang. That feels a little shallow *sheepish grin*

Luckily, it wasn’t MY wedding.
Instead of going to my friend Kristin’s wedding, I ended up at the Minute Clinic for 3 hours.
I have Strep. And I’m contagious for 24 hours. Poor Mike has been in charge of this kids since I went to bed last night at 7:00.

I have a wedding to go to tomorrow and I *really* don’t want to miss it 😦
However…I’m having difficulties swallowing, and generally feel like crap.

Higgins has quickly become one of the family!
Logan likes to run from room to room because Higgins will follow him and lick his face. (LOTS of giggles!)
And Higgins spent all day with me upstairs while I was working. He barked a few times (mostly because he could hear Logan running around downstairs), but for the most part…he was just sitting on his blanket. (We did have a few runs out in the back yard…)
He’s such a good puppy!!

We got a dog!
He’s a rescue dog that we found through my Moms of Twins club. He’s just under a year old and is a Labrabull – part Labrador, part Pitbull…but not the aggressive, bread for fighting kind.
We named him Higgins (like, from Magnum P.I. – tee hee) because he kind of looks like he’s got a tux on. 🙂
The picture is one that was sent to us before we met him, but it’s a super cute one…and better than any I’ve been able to take yet.

Last Monday we had breakfast with Donald and friends. This is the professional photo they took of us. (He was so popular, you had to wait in line to get your picture with Donald *before* going in for breakfast…and only his friends made the rounds while we were eating.)
Sadly, I’m feeling kind of lazy, so this is a cell phone picture of the picture…perhaps I’ll get off my butt tomorrow and actually scan it in.
