Wait for Me!

Watching Burke pick up on things quickly is not so easy for Maggie. Sometimes it makes her not even try…which *almost* happened with the bike…but seeing her pretty new purple sparkly bike sitting there waiting for her has been enough motivation to get her to try out the little bike without training wheels.

It took her a few hours to get over being afraid of the bike…and coming back the next day to actually be comfortable with it – but she’s getting there!!

We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Bike

Since Burke’s knees were touching the handle bars on his old bike, we ventured to Target to find a suitable replacement.

Oh the choices!! I didn’t know if I should get the 16 inch or the 20 inch…the chart said 20, but sheesh! The kid’s feet don’t touch the ground when he’s on that one!

When I finally noticed that the price tag for the bigger bike (pre-assembled) was less than the smaller bike (that we’d have to put together), I got the bigger bike.

He’s taken a few spills, and there are a few more dents in the van…and we need to work on his take-off and landing (or maybe he just needs to grow a few more inches) – but once he gets going, he’s golden! (And yes, he got it in under a half hour – again.)

Logan’s First Day of School

Logan started the first day of his 2nd year of preschool on the 13th.

He had told me two days before that he was going to cry every day that I dropped him off (oh goodie).

The morning of, he asked for a piece of gum – so I told him if drop-off went well, he could have some when he got home.

On the ride to school, he told me that he was only going to play with kids he knew. To which I replied, "Great! You know Jack and Luke and Matthew…"

Drop-off was just fine. He barely even said goodbye. And the day was great for him as well – he had a blast ๐Ÿ™‚

Look Ma! No (Training) Wheels!!

Burke asked to have his training wheels taken off his bike…so I did.

Within a half hour (probably less, even) , he was riding in circles around Logan. The kid is amazing.

And Continuing…

The nanny saga continues.

After I sent out about 15 inquiries through care.com, we interviewed two people last week (it was supposed to be 3, but the 3rd canceled the day of.) The first interview was awesome. We liked her; the kids liked her; Higgins liked her. We THOUGHT she liked us. She even made sure we had the right number for her reference a few days later. And then dropped off the face of the Earth.

The second interview was…okay. She was a little flat, and there was something……..I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. She was lovely and answered everything we asked, but … gotta go with your gut.

So…more inquiries through care.com this past week. Two more perspectives who are interested. I set up an interview with one for this evening…and she just canceled on us. Postponed to next week. Luckily – I hadn’t chatted with the second person yet, so SHE’S going to fill in tonight’s now-free spot. OY!!

Also, it’s been a long few weeks!! I’m not really getting much work done and will have to submit a butt-load of vacation time. BUT, with Burke and Maggie in school, I get lots of Logan time. In addition to just playing, playing, playing…we’ve been to the library, the zoo, and free time at his gym for bouncies time. I’m exhaustedย  ๐Ÿ˜›

Luckily, I discovered the perfect wine yesterday:

First Day of 1st Grade!

Burke and Maggie start 1st grade today!!

OMG, it's early!

"First day of school!!"

Waiting for the bus at the bus stop

Getting on the bus

I Swear They’re There….

Great Big Sea!!!!!!

Flag Football and Cheering

Today was the first practice for Burke’s Flag Football and Maggie’s Cheering.

It’s the first year they’re trying this level out in our town (through Pop Warner), so it wasn’t as smooth as Soccer…but it definitely looks like the kids are going to have fun ๐Ÿ™‚

Ms. Poppins?

I asked the kids what they wanted their next nanny to be like.

Maggie wants a girl. Burke wants a boy. Logan wants Grandpa and Nana.

Maggie wants her to speak Spanish.

Logan wants her to have scrapes on her legs.

Or, Logan wants Finn McMissile.

Now…to tear up the list and throw it in the fireplace….

Here We Go Again

The search for Nanny #10 is on. *sigh*

Nanny C – while very good when she’s here – decided to skip more than a few days without being very communicative about it. (Shades of our first nanny)…and when I finally DID hear from her, some of the reasons were, ah, fairly fantastic. Thank goodness for Nanny Jessica – who happened to have time off because her current family is on vacation. She came over for 2 days to help out so I could get some work done, but more importantly – so I could report to Jury Duty! (So, apparently, losing your nanny 2 days before heading to Jury Duty and being in desperate need of finding a new one is a great way to be excused from Jury Duty. I have mixed feelings about it though because I would have enjoyed sitting in on the trial. Ah well.)

Needless to say, I’m incredibly bummed. And Logan is going to be heartbroken when he realizes she’s not coming back.

It’s a really good thing I used to work for care.com and have a life-time membership there!!

Keep your fingers crossed for us.
