So, I’m pumping gas today and the pump asks for my zip code before the pump can be unlocked. Seriously?? The only thing I can think of is that people are trying to use, we’ll say borrowed, credit cards to purchase gas. Are people really doing this?? And how can I get in on that action? 😉 I actually felt a little violated. And c’mon people – if someone is going to go to the trouble of borrowing a credit card, all they have to do is hit this pump once and know that they’d now need my zip code with it…so the next card they borrow, they’ll go to the trouble of getting the zip as well!
And on the subject of “huh??” And borrowed credit cards…we have this AWESOME Chinese/Thai food place near us that delivers AND takes credit cards. I called them to place an order last week and put it on my debit card. The woman then asks for the 3 digit number on the back of the card. So, I get that this number is to verify that I actually have the card in my hand…but I’m thinking two things here. . . what good is this number if I have to give it out to everyone and their brother WITH the card number anyway?? And if I were borrowing this card, don’t you think I’d have the good sense to grab that number as well?
Okay…I think I’m done with my rant.

Not been asked for my zipcode yet! Huh! Guess it is just around the corner. And yes, the three digit number…does not make sense to me, but oh well…
Were you pumping out of your normal area? We drove to D.C. from Mass. a couple weeks ago and all the out-of-state places asked for our zipcode when we used a Mobil Speedpass. Back in state, not a single query.
Nope, I was right in my own town!
I agree with you I hate to give out my 3 digit code too but sometimes you have to. About the zipcode here for gas, in the Seattle area we haven’t had to do that…yet.
If you can get a hold to the movie “1984” and watch it you will understand. But you have to be old to remember when that came out. 1984 is here and now in 2008.
Oh, I ment to say it is in Georgia lately they ask for your zip code.
